    CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! Man. I’m so so happy for you dude. After so long. A proper, modern sports car.
    Great choice over the Porsche honestly this looks so so much better and still drives just as great with a good enough reliability. Hope you have loads of fun🔥💯

      I was in your factory on Wednesday - I was quite impressed - it was far more slick than I was expecting.
      Also - and important for me - watching people assemble your car really appeals to me - it's all part of what fished me in in the first place.
      You'll be building mine this April ('24).
      You should all be seriously proud of yourselves.

    Congrats on the beautiful Emira! You and I have similar milestones and I am ready for my first "brand new big boy sports car" as well. Have a Cayman GTS 4.0 currently in production. I hope to take delivery in 2-3 months. I also originally had the deposit down on the Emira but ended up turning down an allocation to get the GTS instead. It's such a fine line between the two cars though. I truly believe that you can't go wrong with either!

      @Jay-xr3sb 9 месяцев назад

      @@pawpabare. it was direct to you sir, just wondering how you would compare the 981S/gts to the emira. I liked the 981 base but found it underpowered in regular driving, 981S has plenty for the street.
      I loved the gts 4.0, but found the 981S to sound a bit better in the uk (gpf filters). Both emira and 4.0 are double the cost of the 981S.

    • @pawpabare.
      @pawpabare. 9 месяцев назад

      @@Jay-xr3sb I agree with you that the 981 S does sound better than the 4.0 and as good/better than the Emira depending on the exhaust. As far as comparing to the Emira, the 981 S does not feel as special of a driving experience and the steering feel in the 981 platform is its weakest point.
      That being said, the 981 S is still one of the best sports cars you can buy. The value for money on a 981 S is amazing. The engine in the GTS 4.0 feels much more special and the low down torque is very nice to have but I don't necessarily think it's worth double the money. Neither the GTS 4.0 or the Emira are double the car compared to a 981 S even though I think both of those cars are worth every penny of their price.

      I can't bring myself to buy a new car that will fall in value so fast. The gr86 new costs the same as a low mileage (30,000), 981S in the UK.
      It's half the price of the GTS 4.0 or Emira.
      Just as fast as the emira, sounds better than the 4.0 (gpf filter). It will cost more to run but try the 981S and get a warranty for piece of mind.

    Congratulations! I think there's a satisfaction in obtaining your dream car in a financially responsible way. Lets be honest most cars depreciate, the last couple years was an anomaly where you could literally buy any car you want drive it for a while and possibly make money or break even. That's definitely over now at least for the vast majority of cars and I feel like the used car market is being flooded with cars people realize they can't afford with their 10% financing. That said, wow where did you get 4.7% financing?

    Debt math:
    If you have $100k and use it to buy a car in cash, you will save the cost of interest, which in this case is 4.75% of the loan balance per year (let’s not be pedantic about monthly compounding).
    Alternately, if you have the $100k, but you put it in let’s call it the S&P 500, you will on average *EARN* 10-11% per year on that $100k. And you will pay 4.75%.
    10-11% is more than 4.75%. Weird, I know.
    So over time, on average, based on historical performance of the stock market, you will clearly build wealth faster by leaving your money invested and using debt for the car.

    • @jubbalandcars
      @jubbalandcars  9 месяцев назад +4

      Issue there is there is risk. People like to claim SP500 is a guaranteed known. It’s not. Look at the lost decade

    • @GTC4cam
      @GTC4cam 9 месяцев назад

      The historical returns since 1871 are almost 10%, and that includes both the great depression and the lost decade. That’s 153 years of data. But losses loom larger than gains, that is human psychology. If you need proof that it is flawed logic, just ask yourself this. If there were 153 years of losing -10%. No one would even question the stock market, they would say it is awful, you’re insane, 153 years of data, it’s a guaranteed loser. But 153 years of +10% returns and people say that 153 years means nothing, it’s a casino, you’re taking crazy risk, you’ll lose everything. Asymmetrical assessment of risk driven by fear, not logic.

    • @jubbalandcars
      @jubbalandcars  9 месяцев назад +4

      I’ll be including your take on my upcoming video on the finances of it, including why I don’t fully agree with it :)

    • @GTC4cam
      @GTC4cam 9 месяцев назад

      Apologies if this posts twice, I posted it but it disappeared. I don’t know what happened.
      Short version, since 1871, the returns on the stock market are roughly 10%, and that includes both the great depression and the lost decade. Anyone who claims there’s no risk in the stock market is not even worth talking to, they have no business talking about money because they don’t understand simple concepts.
      But it’s a grossly asymmetrical *assessment* of risk to say the stock market is risky to the point that you shouldn’t invest. If you tell a person there’s 153 years of data showing that the stock market *loses* on average 10% every year, they would say the stock market is an insane waste of time, you’re guaranteed to lose money, the proof is 153 years of losses. Guaranteed loser. But if you say it’s 153 years of positive returns, they’ll say “nah man, the stock market is way too risky, fools game, 153 years of data doesn’t mean anything”. So the assessment of risk is purely emotional. If it’s a ton data showing losses, they’ll say it’s proof. If it’s 153 years of gains, they’ll call it a fluke, a crap shoot, a casino. It’s fear pretending to be logic.

      @@jubbalandcars not strange at all. Like you, I'm financially responsible. The 981 had a short run and it's the same platform as the 718. If you want NA then the new gts 4.0 costs double.
      The 981S with full options is just as fast as the emira. The Emira is wider, has a longer wheel base, a tad heavier, has a lower rev limit, does move any faster with the extra power, no dual clutch option, lotus build quality, less storage but yes probably better steering.
      The 981 had the first version of EPAS, if you update the software it's as good as the gts 4.0 steering...same hardware.
