Do you use straight stitch or zig-zag for the fold over elastic?

I tried to zoom in...looks like a straight stitch but hopefully it's the stretch straight stitch, it looks like she's able to stretch the elastic pretty well. I'd be terrified of using a regular straight stitch on one of the stretchiest garments lol

What type of fabric are you using? And the black thing is that fabric as well? Or elastics?
