The Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor... some like it, others not so much. While it is reportedly the most advanced fighter aircraft in the skies today, it has had it's problems. Detractors point at massive cost overruns and technical glitches, while proponents say it is needed to maintain the United State's air superiority. The truth is it has yet to be tested in battle, and until it is we may not fully know just how good or bad it really is. Like it or not the F-22 Raptor is here to stay.

The US purchased a few Su-27 from Ukraine. If you know anything about that aircraft, aside from a different computer system it is the exact same as the current Russian SU-35. Russians most advanced fighter jet. In a live simulation, the F-22 went head to head with the SU-27 and was never seen once. They also did maneuvering simulation's to see how the F-22 could react when fighters are on its six. The F-22 was so agile it was able to always regain the upper hand. The Russian SU-50 prototype doesn't even currently reach the standards of the minimum maneuvering the F-22 is capable of. The SU-50 is more in line with the F-35.
To my knowledge just about every new item in the inventory had initial bugs that were eventually worked out. Even guns had their issues. I don't think many guys cared to much for the M-16 when it first was used in battle. Speaking of 16's, the F-16 certainly had its growing pains as well.
Such smooth flying with the refueling. I think this aircraft is a work of art. Coolest vapor cone out there and turns on a dime. Still think the F-16 and F-14 are visually the sexiest aircraft, but the Raptor is in a different league of engineering.
The future of aircrafts, is a plane hub that can launch multiple small unmanned drones, either with small rail guns for killing infantry, or small explosives to self detonate in precise locations (buildings, bunkers etc.) The advantage is that they are small and would be by default stealthy, and bring no harm to a pilot. They are probably also quite cheap, and the software side of things, as well as general computing hardware is coming of age for this stuff. They could be very smart and hard to take out due to it's small mass and size being able to do far more agile reflex-like manoeuvres.
PAK FA looks pretty good and I think it has a potential and one day may truly rival the F-22. J-20 of the other hand is truly a piece of crap from the get-go. Utter garbage. good target practice.
Russian aircraft are well designed, but the electronics in most of their aircraft are archaic when compared to American Aircraft. F15 pilots reported not being able to find the F22 on radar, nor could they find the aircraft when in visual range. You can't shoot down what you can't find. The F22 would shoot down most aircraft before they even knew the jet was near them.

The thing is that it's just not important--they're all fast enough. The Su-35 does not turn faster than the F-22; well, maybe in certain very slow airshow maneuvers, but anyone who fights that way is an idiot who wants to die. The F-22 can match even the Typhoon in most areas of their envelopes, and starts to pull away the faster and higher it gets. Both can turn faster/harder than the Su-35 in a real fight. The F-22 can also sustain fairly high supersonic speeds without using afterburners--Mach 1.76-1.82 (depending on conditions) at full military power (max with no afterburners), and about Mach 1.5 (design spec) for greater fuel economy at well below max power. Additionally, to compensate for its weight the F-22 has a lot more power--nothing in service in another fighter can match its engine performance.
S-500 is a formidable system, for sure. Here's the problem though. Let's say the U.S. wanted to overfly an area protected by a super duper S-500 system. All they have to do is send in cheap drones as sacrificial lambs to the S-500 radar. The moment before impact those drones transmit back a triangulated position of the lock-on radar signal. Or there is a second line with anti-radiation missiles. Either way, the minute those S-500s light up a target, they are sitting ducks and their positions will be broadcast to the rest of the world.

Okay here's to all of you Murica haters and all you raptors haters...A year or so back 1 Raptor piloted by Col Tim Merrill took on 5 F15's in simulated combat the F-15's were takin out in no time the F15 pilot's said the only time they seen the Raptor was when the Raptor flew over them after they were shot down...Another simulated combat exercise there was 2 F-22 Raptor's against 16 F15's it was over in a couple of minutes the two Raptor pilot's said after in a interview that it was getting boring shooting down the F-15's after a while because it was so easy...And these two exercises did take place it's documented...So again to all you Murica and F-22 Raptor haters I would say that this pretty much sums up the capability's of Murica's premier fighter...Oh and incidentally that term (like clubbing baby seals) was said by one of the Raptor pilots in the 2 on 16 engagement...And to all of you American guy's out there that say Russian equipment is trash well you could not be further from the truth the Russians build top notch equipment it is very rugged and dependable and not to mention very sophisticated and I hope and pray that these two mighty Countries never clash because it would be the end of the world as we know it or out right end of civilization... The ones we need to worry about is the sneaky Giant in Asia and quit letting them have all of our technology we are creating that monster but so is Russia and it's going to come back and bite us right in the ass...
