I picked one up for $75 at my local pawn shop. Played incredibly right from the pawn shop. Feels very much like my Schecter C1 40th anniversary. Solid as a rock!!!
Great! Thanks for for your video. Saw a Sterling SUB AX3 in a shop nearby and was wondering, what this could be. Didn't think Sterling comes up with a "new" model. I own Sterling, OLP and Original MM and I'm very interested in the AX3, because I really love my Sterling AX 30. The SUB AX3 is so unbelievable affordable with a price about 400 EUR. And: Good playing, especially the DT - Part! Cheers, Tom
Thanx a lot, man. At least I have more information on this guitar (specially regarding the sounds it produces). It seems like a really nice guitar. Nice color, too.
How's the neck? I really don't think I have a chance to test one because there's really no stores selling these here in Finland. I've heard it's a bit thicker than a standard Fender C-neck and I really liked that one. I'm thinking of buying this or a Parker around 400€.
them or Duncans. and it depends on what kind, if you do alot of divebombing or anything with the tremelo really, get ready to be tuning it after every song. I use it all the time live, but I try not to be too crazy with the tremelo.
is this a good guitar for playing some of muse's old stuff? (showbiz album) (muse as in the band) but also more of a kind of rock stuff like you me at six
This was really helpful. I'm on the fence and now believe i may buy a used one for $250. That would make the new pick-ups and locking tuners affordable. Any suggestions on purchasing used vs new?
Thanks for your review this model.. just found it from Guitars shop , so i really like it and then i m searching about details of this model and this is my choice for me now...
It's a good choice to buy, I just put some dimarzios in it about a month ago, hopefully (I'm so busy it's hard to find time to make videos) I'll do a review within the next week!
just recently fell in love with this guitar in the guitar center, but also I was using an awesome amp (don't remember the name but it was I THINK a gold Yamaha amp that was actually really nice...) I am getting new equipment and was just wondering what amp were you playing this through and what pedal if any? I need a new amp, wah pedal too lol its guna be a couple dollars
I've tried stuff like that before, but it makes the neck and strings too slippery for me, I like it to have that bit of friction in between my strings and fingers
It's very comfortable to do that. I usually play with the guitar up pretty high though, but that makes it easier for me to shred. But, it's light weight enough, to where you won't have a back ache after playing for two hours lol
It sounds ok for it, I don't use it too much for that, I other guitars for that style. But I'm sure that if you were to change out the pick ups and put a locking nut or locking tuners on it, and have it setup right, it'd be good for it. I kind of just like to use it as an all purpose guitar really.
it does very well for what it is. by no means is it a floyd but you can do dive bombs on it if you really wanted to but don't expect to stay perfectly in tune
awesome thanks! are the strings a low action like a lespaul or more like a stratocaster? I'm used to a lespaul and have played a stratocaster every once in a while but would prefer the action of the strings a bit in between the two.
It's tiny! Haha. It's lightweight, fits my body comfortably. I don't know too much about floyds to tell ya, I've always been a hardtail bridge player. I will say that the tremelo that it comes with, will do a dive bomb...not as good as a floyd, but it'll do it, if it's set up right.
Alrighty, so I just got one of these second hand. I am loving this guitar, however, I noticed that all the models I have seen have had the zebra color pickups and plastic, strat like knobs. Mine, on the other hand, has all chrome hardware (chrome pickup covers and metal knobs ((like a telecaster))). Is mine a special edition something or another or was that done second hand. Any help would be appreciated. Just got into sterling/musicman guitars and am so far loving them. Thanks
that's probably all second hand stuff, probably has some seymour duncan pickups or another brand similar to them, I would prefer that kind of hardware over the plastic
I did this video through a Roland 80x on the rectifier model ran through a burgers 4x12. However I’ve actually sort of changed styles of music to a little bit more classic rock so I blend an old fender champ and a peavey valve king, it actually sounds surprisingly good. I’ll have to make a video on it one day.
to be honest I haven't played a strat enough to tell since I don't own one. Mine was set up a little higher so that I would have more of a floating tremelo. I don't know if that answers your question or not lol sorry
He explains it: 1- neck pup, double coil, 2- neck pup, single coil 3- front and back pups, 4, back pup single coil, 5- bridge pup double coil. No other guitar does that.
oh peavey valve king just saw that! also I was wondering....I have recently been playing a ton of allman bros basically I wish I was derek trucks his band is amazing...do you think that you could get away with playing that style of music on this guitar? I also play reggae "grateful dead licks" funk and prog rock (Yes mainly). I mean I guess it all comes down to what amp and effects im using. I don't know much about equipment and what guitar is best for what music im trying to learn more abuot it I literally taught myself how to play in high school and I don't know if its cause im a girl but all I cared about was playing the guitar didn't care about the specs, what amp I used...have a strat now but this guitar feels better on my wrist I broke my left wrist metal plate 9 screws so this guitar being comfortable is my main draw, and the price
great cant wait to hear it . iv'e bought one for myself in blue for live gigs as a back up guitar im planning on putting some nice seymour duncans in it later .
Just ordered one in Trans Black and I'm very curious. (Don't really need another guitar though!) Worth a punt for the cash I reckon. Nice playing and demo....do you still have yours?
kkmspm I know I said I would do a review on them 4 months ago and never did, but it's a video that I really want to make, along with a review of the line 6 pod hd 500 and the roland cube 80, just haven't had the time to with my busy work schedule. I will say that the dimarzios are definitely worth buying, they make the difference.
+Michael Wilson I've had mine for 3 years and the only changes i've made are the pickups. I'd like to have some locking tuners for it eventually, but other than that, no complaints
Awesome, I don't use the tremolo enough to justify putting a Floyd on there but I did put some locking tuners on it and had it reset up, plays like a totally new guitar now
To be honest with you I have no idea lol. I had it done at a music store and told them I didn't want to hear an ugly noise when it goes back to full tension (aka didn't want the trem hitting the body)
@@cooper9563 which you more prefer for both clean and dirt, squier stratocaster or this one? I want a more versatile, can play any type of genre perfectly and comfortable... thanks
hafiz marzuki to me a strat is always gonna have a nicer clean tone hands down. But that’s just my personal preference. It also depends on what style music you play. Since I’ve made this video I’ve actually gotten more into country and blues rock, so I’ve picked up my strat a lot more often, but as far as versatility goes, this guitar will pretty much do whatever style music you want it to.
@@cooper9563 thank you. I thought it felt shorter at GC ....I'll stick with my standard but may pick up a Sterling if I can soon. Thanks. Excellent show.

Very nice job. Just picked up mine in trans black. Thanks for the review.

I'm really considering to have one of these and this video helps a lot, thanks!!

I'd use it for anything, it's pretty diverse, and good for gigging too.
How does the quilt top look...cheap?
how does the guitars body feel like? is it heavy.. do u think its good to add a floyd rose bridge on the guitar just to get dive bombs etc..?
I've tried stuff like that before, but it makes the neck and strings too slippery for me, I like it to have that bit of friction in between my strings and fingers

how bout metal?? does it souind good for that genre??
very cool, thanks for this video and demonstration brigde. What are you think about original floyd fose for this guitar? or this floyd good too?
it does very well for what it is. by no means is it a floyd but you can do dive bombs on it if you really wanted to but don't expect to stay perfectly in tune
Thanks for the review man. I'm planning to buy that guitar. It's still out of stock here in the Philippines. Are those made in China?
Guitar Center in Dayton, OH
would EMG's do?? would you recommend it for live gigs??
thanks man~I will buy this guitar today^^
awesome thanks! are the strings a low action like a lespaul or more like a stratocaster? I'm used to a lespaul and have played a stratocaster every once in a while but would prefer the action of the strings a bit in between the two.
its only available in red or blue now, what colour is yours?

the dimarzio cliplock has 2 screws and it seems ur using the stainless one on the body.. Does the other black screw fit on the body?..

Whats all gear you use man? Sounds cool

why does it have a 5 way switch what does the back look like
He explains it: 1- neck pup, double coil, 2- neck pup, single coil 3- front and back pups, 4, back pup single coil, 5- bridge pup double coil. No other guitar does that.
Hey how comfortable do you feel playing this guitar standing up? Are you able to move freely on the fretboard?
that's weird, mine is the trans black, wonder why they would've gotten rid of it
Mayby squier strat to be better?
I'd call that a downgrade lol. Tremelo on the sub stays in tune a lot better, and you get some of the same kind of tones and more out of it.
+snapon1993 _
i prefer a squier, i dont really liked this sound
that sucks man, its only red or blue in the UK and black looks killer!

Great review, keep doing it.
it came stock kind of low now that I think of it and no problem!
great review mate !
Thanks! Having the dimarzio John Petrucci set of pickups put on it now so I'll do another review as soon as I get it back!
great cant wait to hear it . iv'e bought one for myself in blue for live gigs as a back up guitar im planning on putting some nice seymour duncans in it later .
realkidrage so far I like them, still kind of getting used to them, but they do give the guitar a lot more clarity, not quite as beefy sounding
cool guitar, looks like Paul Landers s Music man in Sehnsucht album.
Just ordered one in Trans Black and I'm very curious. (Don't really need another guitar though!) Worth a punt for the cash I reckon. Nice playing and demo....do you still have yours?
I sure do, I'm actually about to put the John Petrucci set of Dimarzio pickups in it before too much longer, I'll do a review on them too

Sure thing! And thanks, keep playin!
i have one for over a year i use it stock... no issues
+Michael Wilson I've had mine for 3 years and the only changes i've made are the pickups. I'd like to have some locking tuners for it eventually, but other than that, no complaints
I have one, put a bone nut and a real Floyd Rose trem on it. Love it.
Awesome, I don't use the tremolo enough to justify putting a Floyd on there but I did put some locking tuners on it and had it reset up, plays like a totally new guitar now
How do you set the tremolo?
Floating?

How would you describe the scale length compared to playing a standard strat? Is it that bad? Or close
Robert Clark my strat is definitely longer. Not a huge difference though.

Sry bro! What distortion effect did u use?
That's the rectifier amp model on a Roland Cube 80X
Nice sound like milk mix honey ..I love it
I'd call it in between a Fender and a lespaul, that's about the easiest way to describe it lol
They're OK, not really the best though, I would get some that lock
thanks! that would be awesome, or maybe even a JP model ;)
haha personally I prefer Dimarzios. I'm not really that much into active pickups, but if I had to choose, Duncan would come second.
cool video bud
wow. ...thanks you
hay man dont change tuners get this string lube called big bends nut sauce. i know it sounds gay but works! you wont go out of tune and it cost $10
4:50 DT- home :D
Do more by all means great playing
it might be, whatever it is, the pictures and my video don't do it justice.
You're welcome! If you have anymore questions about it, let me know!
someone should just give you a music man axis for free, cause you`re playing is awesome
they are noiseless still, thanks for watching!
I think I want a second one haha
thanks!
ok, thanks man
sure thing! I'm probably gonna start doing more videos like this with other stuff that I have, thanks for watching!
yeah that helps a bit though;p thanks! ^^
I like you.
I didn't think you were haha
I've seen better, but I'd say it's pretty good
ernie ball and it comes with crap strings. ? the indonesian cort factory makes everything ibanez,squire,cort.... all top quality..
those pick ups are microphonic. And never demo a guitar while not in tune.sound so bad :-(
EMG's suck. Go for Seymour Duncan.
