Jack my man, I see your content evolving. You know youtube feels kinda of empty when it comes to ESO content creators. When I first started playing my whole view of ESO was shaped Deltia, Gilliam, Sypher, and You. However, those other creators are gone and there is a space that can be filled. Keep grinding man I want to see you dominate the youtube scene.
When I made that comment I was thinking about people I watched on youtube, but I have a soft spot for Feng rush, He's the first and only streamer I ever subbed too, until recently when I subbed to Jack.
Was listening to this in the background, so I am sorry if I missed it. Some helpful tips on breaking free:
1. For console - Press left trigger (block) first before right trigger to ensure that you break free consistently.
2. Some skills like javelin and meteor can potentially cause double stuns because of lag. Make sure you see the animation of you being hit by those skills before actually break free.
Just starting to get in PvP, so this is definitely what I needed.
PvP is the best, start off in the under 50 campain. Pc or console?
Careful, pvp can suck if your build isn’t compatible with you.
PvP is a lot of fun especially if you get into a group or are already there along some friends (I luv epic battles with lots of people on both sides and siege castle/forts or in defensive stance). Imperial City is fun two, in the sewers when you get to the center it can become a funny quagmire, against other alliances + those damned bosses..
except huge lag and terrible ping
feels like stamina chars are way better ... i mean the roll dodge is just to good.
0:40 The Basics
5:44 Mechanics/Animation Canceling
30:23 PvP Commentary
I don't see the point of having to cancel an animation so as to play the game on par with others. I mean, it breaks immersion... Like if there was a special move with you car's steering wheel so as to "cancel" the time it would take to get to destination, it doesn't make sense.
@@DelireWeb canceling is easy it's second nature once you learn it. I don't even notice myself doing it anymore
@@DelireWeb Seems like an excuse to not put the effort into developing your skills, leave immersion to your singleplayer/pve experiences, for example I play with UI off and in first person for ALL pve content, but put me in a competitive setting and I'm not gonna purposefully handicap myself for muh immersion because it's a competitive setting! A fair analogy would be wave dashing in super smash or drifting in a car, you don't have to drift to go round a corner and it's harder to execute then a normal corner but if you've built your talents then you'll be able to turn the corner faster and come out of it at an advantage over someone who hasn't got that skillset in their repertoire.
@@jacobbatchelor7877 sadly a lot of people feel like this cancel animation spamming thing after every move you do is way to much ...
@@DelireWeb its a game mechanic designed that way. Would you like it if you couldnt cancel the animation straight to a block when a party wipe is coming? You dont play obviously so dont comment
Wow!!! Where was this video one year ago when I desperately needed it. lol Best explanation of pvp mechanics I've ever seen. Nice job!
You deserve a million likes man) Love your builds and playstyle, but i didn't realised at this moment how were you dealing that much burst dammage. Thank you
Great guide but one critique that I think should be mentioned is settings. Default settings should be changed when going into PvP because resource management is imperative and the default settings don’t help with that. For example your buffs and debuffs are something you NEED to change to always on. A lot of the time a specific animation that’s associated with a buff won’t register making you think you need to use it again. For example: the molten armaments ability for dragon knights, when the ability is casted your weapon looks like its enveloped in lava. A lot of times the animation associated with the ability doesn’t register and it won’t look that way when you cast it, making you think you have to recast. That’s something I did a lot when I first started ESO, if you have buffs and debuffs on you’ll see the ability associated with molten armaments, major sorcery will be on your bar meaning that the buff is active. That way you won’t waste resources re-casting the same ability too early. Default settings have that turned off so that’s something beginners tend to do a lot and it can be detrimental in PvP since you waste resources. Another thing are DoTs you apply to players, with buffs and debuffs on you can see the DoTs you put on enemies below the enemy’s health bar so that way you won’t waste resources re-casting that DoT ability, because all that does is overwrite the pre-existing DoT meaning you used more resources to apply the same damage over time, it’s best to apply the DoT again once the pre-existing DoT runs out so you don’t use those resources too early.
Excellent, excellent advice and ideas. I would have loved such a guide as this when I started. New players absolutely need to be bookmarking this! Keep up the excellent content Kris mate! :)
Excellent video, Jack! I absolutely love all your content, and this guide is a great source of information for pvp. I've been playing for 14 months now and at times I feel extremely strong and can 1v1 a rank 50 player, and then at other times I get totally wrecked. Blocking more and using defensive animation cancelling like you mentioned in this video are huge areas of improvement for me. Thanks for putting this out there, and hoping to see some further guides soon! Templarlifebb ;)
thank you for taking the time to do this video. I actually got better watching your pvp commentary videos by listening to your explanations of what was happening, why it was being done. and the usefulness of its timing. this just took it to the next level. i better understand how animation cancelling works and even on NPCs I'm seeing an improvement in my combat performance. 11/10 video I'll be linking this to all new players asking relevant questions for sure.
This is actually very helpful. Not just anoter build guide, but a guide on how to actually play when you're in PVP. Thank you!
dude the pvp commentary is so well done im so happy i've discovered your channel as a new player
this was a great video. Both the tutorial style and the commentary were very useful to help understand how pvp works in this game. I would love to see more commentaries like this for different builds and classes :)
Amazing video. Even for veterans some very nice information and tips! Thx a lot Jack :3
Man your content is just unreal. Keep it up please damn you’re so helpful
Great tips and advice, especially on blocking which I never use. Purging too. I use a stamblade for PvP and find that the main cause of my deaths is being rooted and snared preventing me from being able to stealth out of danger. I think I will try switching out my siphoning strikes for the purge ability.
I also barely use animation cancellation consciously in a way that its used in combos. I usually rely on stealth opening with the snipe +injection + light and then I gap close and .exe with the 2H sword. I think I would be much more successful using the animation cancellation technique you talk about here with the bashing too.
Best advice given don't mess with organized groups when solo
this may just be the most useful video anyone has done for this game. good job man. cleared up some things ive been clueless about for a long time lol
Great vid!
I especially liked the advice on using block against heavy attack builds. If you could make a vid on countering different builds would be awesome.
this is a hell of a run in PvP! nice work!
One of the best vids yet JD! I'd enjoy seeing more. I learned a few things for sure. ESO pvp can be deceptively intricate with a lot of subtle things going on.
worth a watch even for people who have been playing a while, I learned a few things nice one man
Nice video, just what I waiting for. I'm new to the game and really want to learn PvP
Great gift to the ESO community. :)
As a returning player this was great for me. Thank you!
This was very informative and helpful. Thank you
How to fight another Player
Step 1: Make a Stamwarden
Step 2: Done
Meldo LOL fr tho 😢
Stamblade DoT build is stronger :)
Ryan Stekken over time yes but a stamden catches you with it’s burst and spins your toast
@@lawse9393 I don't know one stamden, they can burst me. Maybe because I played non cp. Or maybe because EU servers got no good stamden 😁
Ryan Stekken either bad players or you actually know how to block 😂 stamblade is always strong 1vs1 but like I said a stamden catch’s you with its burst you will die
Yay, Jacks back! Super stoked to actually appear in the video at the end with my frost mage as well. I still remember that fight.... Fabulous fight that we ended up in and I will always remember community nights with the nord army fondly.
Worth to mention : bind bash to a specific key so you don't have to block first
That work if you're holding the block key already?
@@Ozaiyajin yes
These instructional videos are so great! Keep up the awesome work!
Dude you changed the way i play this game, before i didn't know anything about canceling and ppl would just burst me down instantly and i didn't understand why or how, I always thought it was lagg cuz i never see them do the skills animations lol, turns out they where doing cancels all along hahaha. Now Im doing much better in pvp and understanding everything much better, Thx for the vid bro!
Great video Kristofer, keep doing what you're doin, much love
Great content as always! Miss your streams. Take care
this guide was grate seems as though no one else talks about this stuff thanks
Just wanted to say that your video was so well done, clean and informative that it's got even an old, disabled grandma like me intrigued. I'll probably get repeatedly splattered on the proverbial concrete, but I want to at least make an attempt now. So thanks for that...brat. 😉
As an older woman with a neurological disease that affects my hands (I can't feel them very well - if I get stressed, at all) I have avoided PvP for a long time. I just did the bare minimum to get Assault 3 for the speed bonus. 😺 I wasn't even curious before boredom(being totally alone in a 1br apartment for close to two years will do that - immunocompromised during a pandemic SUCKS!!) and this event caused me a small spark of curiousity. A search of RUclips had your video at the head of the class, and now I know why, you're good at PvP and do a great job at educating us newcomers. Thank you so much, and have a safe, healthy & happy day/week/year!
ps. I just got my second vaccine dose, so 2 more weeks and I'm free (ish😺) to be my regular whirling dervish. I'm sure my (adult) children are bolting the doors as we speak. 🤣
Kristofer, I have a personal question. I'm dying a fair amount (ok, a lot...but still having fun :). How much did you die when you started, and do you still die (now that you are a PvP god)? 😺
11:19 dont know if this was introduced by a later patch but dodge gives you a brief snare and immobalize immunity. I testet it once and it was quite short, dont remember the exact value it was something between 2-4 sec and im quite sure it was 3 sec. It likely must be as long as you have the green circles around the feet. Or maybe you get the immunity only after you actualy did brake an immobalization, dont remember exactly, but you get an immunity to it at some point. Thanks for the great guide!
Watch out for the recent Fiord + Shacklebreaker scroll stealers, we got surprised by them on Midyear Mayhem's final day and when we noticed them, they alone already took all scrolls from both factions.
Kudo's for mentioning the importance of block
btw when you block an attack you start generating ult aswel and there are many abilities you can use while blocking so for most builds (mostly close range and especialy with sword 'n board) you are just better of holding down your right mouse button firmly while you are being targeted instead of weaving in light attacks. In close combat you won't see the inbound projectiles like that.
weaving in bashes is only usefull for interupting, the dmg it does is not worth the stamina that it costs!
make sure you have enough sustain and penetration these are key in pvp so is resistance for most builds. Heavy attacks are hard to land for a stam tune and you cant use skills while charging it. mag tunes with staff could Heavy attack from a distance but mostly you just want enough sustain in your build so you won't have too
If you possibly can: USE MAYOR BREACH!!!!!! and if possible even minor breach aswel (puncture skill has both) when used together that gives you like 10.000 pen against your opponent it is by far the greatest debuff you can use in pvp. when used against you cleansing it is essential!
This debuff will turn the battle around in your favor when you use it
I have no idea how you’re so good at blocking these attacks, can you do an advanced guide on that? I guess I can learn by studying class combos more but I figured you’d be the best coach for it
Thx for the hard work. Its exactly what u must know to deal with pvp.
That was a really great video. Great insight and educational. Thanks
AMAZING video.
competent commentary and you really can speak.
definitely gonna sub ;D
Cheers dude, I am good have strong selfmade build however I starting to use block more and defense animation cancellation and see good improvements in my gameplay
Good stuff. Would like if the commentary was a little louder though. Usually I have to turn it down when watching others.
Love your content man!
U should honestly do a combo tutorial with S&B & Dual wield as well. Thx for ur work.
Great and informative vid. Not many like that are out there. Thx
Great content!
Man, thanks! Lets see if I can learn something from this. I can solo a pve Dolmen but I have never won a pvp match :v
I can Solo a Vet HM Dungeon. And I still struggle in pvp sometimes.
great vid...lots of life saving/life taking tips!
Wow man thank you, and i was wondering why the fk am i getting destroyed in pvp, now i get it these animation cancels are op
Best pvp tutorial.
Great video. Thank you very much. I'll need to watch it a few times though i think to comprehend it all.......
31:43 that was me on the tower LOL when i first started pvping.
Some good and helpful tips there
How to fight in PvP rules !
Switch sets per situation per person you fight.
Switch CP to expose the player your fighting.
Switch Class and know what class will beat the other person.
Switch race for sustain per Argonian.
Switch Abilities to counter what the other players or player is running.
And remember ... be as toxic as possible, shame good Thoerycrafting and call a build that kills you cancer - aids - or cheese.
Do these things you are on your way to be an ESO PvPer good luck and don't forget to send hate mail in the whispers. 👌
Well you aint wrong. ESO is Spicy ;)
U forgot most important:
Change different food buffs& pots in the fight, depending on whether you decide going offensive or defensive.
The mechanics guide is perfect, exactly what I needed. Is this all still relavent current day?
I would say yes. I would say PvP in Cyrodiil is harder now because casual players avoid it (except during special events) so you are often facing people who really know what they are doing and have the best gear. The techniques here are solid. The problem is that it is much easier for players to be very tanky and dish out serious damage. I was fighting a Dragonknight earlier and it was 3 of us versus 1 of him and his health bar barely ever went down, he never cast Vigor of Dragon Blood, so he was managing to shrug off our damage and passively heal somehow. And I don't even think he was a great player because he targeted me, who was clearly very tanky, and ignored the necromancer who was specced fully into damage. But we just couldn't hurt him. I admit to not being a great PvPer, but I can get off a dizzy swing combo. It didn't matter, he was invincible.
And that is not a one-off. I run into these super tanky DKs all the time and I don't know how they do it. I mean, I was a DK and I was taking tons of damage and couldn't keep my healing up. That said, against "normal" players in Battelgrounds the techniques taught here are still relevant.
This is a great video!!
this is sooooo helpful!
Awesome video mate 👍
LOVE IT
great video!
Allright. Great video. Now tell us how to deal with a stamina cancer build that puts bleeds, sload and defile on others whille being able to heal all hp with Vigor.
Git Gud!
That was so helpfull. Thank you very very... not
Ok fine, Use an Argonian or Stamplar happy? No Defile no bleed dots and great heals.
lmao play this for years if you could see my KDA that D would be sinking the boat its difficult to get a hang of animation cancel or to block when im in the heat of a fight no matter what build i got i feel as if i never kill anyone i may have stopped playing a million times frustrated :( days before resource management was a thing i had fun :D all gone now
Great content Kristofer! Liked and subbed. One of the best videos out there! It helped me a lot! One question, a friend and I are returning after a long time and we're not looking for the FOTM classes but the two classes that synergyze the best with each other for 2vX in cyrodiil. We don't have any problem in playing either stam or mag. We would love some advice from an experienced player like you.
A nightblade (stam) and sorc (mag) combo is very giod for world pvp. Both classes have great mobility and damage, the sorc can be tanky and the nb can use stealth for solid defences.
Another strong combo is templar + anything. Templar has allot of great utility skills (purge) and synergies that help out any other class regardless of how you build the templar.
But i must say that any combo can work well and synergy between you and your freind is more based on your specific builds and playstyles vs class choice.
@@KristoferESO Thanks for your quick reply Kristofer! By templar do you mean Stam or Mag? Our play style revolves around simply being able to 2vX. Hold our own against the maximum amount of enemies possible and kill fast before they pile up. I know PVP is mostly about burst so I guess DK is not necessarily a good option? If one of us go templar does the other class has to be Stamblade or Magsorc? I appreciate your input man.
Also you can get the efficient purge without being a templar. Doesn't that compensate for it? Also my concern with the Templar is that isn't power of the light easy to dispel thus neglecting its damage? Everybody seems to say that the Stamina warden is a pvp monster for some reason. I've seen people recommending two stamina classes to line up Dawnbreaker. Do you think that's the case? sorry for the many questions!
I had a very difficult time following this. I've tried many different builds that others have suggested and the only thing I managed to do was drain my bank account and crafting resources. My DPS still sucks to the point players can just stand there and I barely hurt them.
Hi what you running on that build as looks amazing and me a Templar
here is a link to the build! ruclips.net/video/N3v1EJwHTS8/видео.html
this man is godly
Love your vids! please do more non cp builds!
Hey guys, i just got into the game again, i stopped playing at lvl 32 when the game came out, i got a nord templar and im looking forward to pvp since that is what i love the most. I feel kinda lost atm, im lvling and such but there are so many builds around that its hard to pick from, i love melee characters and using a 2h would be a plus. Is there any list or link you guys could give me with the best templar builds around, or the best 1 or 2.
Thanks alot!
OH YEAH YEAH
I've been playing ESO for 5 years with average 300-330 ping and 90+FPS. The more I play this game the more frustrated I get. If your latency is above 300, cancel-anime will not be your cuppa tea. Especially facing multiple enemies, HP desync probably is your worst enemy if you have high latency.
Off topic but how much fight footage do you need to submit a build video? Jw because I find it hard to record long fights on Xbox.
@Abyss ESO ✔
cus u suck
Coming from WoW im totally confuswd on what a player cast or is doing cuz everything is like instant cast and not much visible animation or graphical representation of an action..im confused af even though i high kills on bg but most of the time i just hack and slash everyone and not being tactical really..sorry for being noob but thats why im here.
My biggest problem the MagShields! I dont know what to do when he shield himself :( after that i did no damage anymore
i like your videos, but the volume needs to be increased by 300%. to watch while anything else is going on i have to use my volume mixer to drop everything else to around 30% just to hear you at the same level.
Damn you’re good
I feel like double tapping WASD to roll dodge is ineficcient.
Not if you're using some gear Well-Fitted trait. It's always better to not take the damage instead of tanking it. It's also beneficial if you're using the Eternal Hunt set
I just realized you're not talking about dodging itself but just double tapping to roll dodge and now I feel stupid
Can i ask a semi dumb question i know this is old? But does this video support the current harrowstorm meta?
Do you just use crown food in Cyrodiil? I want more recovery on my magblade but I don't wanna chop my stamina down for obvious reasons
Do you not use food or something because you run out of stamina soo fast an also you get hit once an are about dead
brilliant guide, are you a teacher or something?
what do you do when someone hits you for 7k everytime, doesnt take damage and has heals stronger that a templar?
Is there areas that are pvp oriented or are they all just modes?
do you have a stamina warden build?
Just run arround stone use all possible bubble shields
Whats the glow around his hands?
Been playing eso for years. I just can’t dps combo on Xbox. Is pc easier?
This is all good and stuff but it still does not address the main problem I have with PvP... as a new player (who by the way played other MMO's extensively) I really can't understand what the fuck is going on in a PvP combat.
I mean, in this video you tell us for example that you got a curse on you and you purged it.. how or where did you even see that curse? I have enabled my buff and debuff icons on top of my HP bar and I still can't follow or identify it like that either. You also say you're blocking the heavy attacks from that sorc but I can't tell which attack he's using, what ability he's casting and what you're blocking. Damn, I can't even tell if he's a sorcerer or a templar or a dragonknight or whatever...
Yes I am a noob at this point but I want to get better and jumping straight into animation cancelling tricks won't help me if I can't read what is going on around me. I want to learn how to read what the fuck is happening around me first.
How do you trinket? Mine never wants to work it’s so random. I’ll get stunned will ha e the stamina for it and I’ll press LT+RT like it says and it never does it
Lol trinket. Someone's a WoW player.
i could never get any practice 1 on 1 because i get one shotted in both cp and non cp... okay i admit, i was using pve characters but im afraid to prioritize a stricly pvp build because it seems like the meta and bis changes every couple of months, so by the time i finish farming good sets or gold for a strong build, its not good anymore and i wasted time... i would love to try pvp now except im too slow in reaction and i have anxiety sooo idk, everyone... moves... soo.. fast... should i start leveling a new pvp char now or wait till the new update for changes?
It’s easier to just use the same character for pvp and pve but it’s going to get annoying switching from one build to another, honestly you should just make a new character. I was in your same position but don’t worry you’ll get better with time. Also, maybe the main reason you’re getting one shotted especially in no cp is because you have no critical resistance which is absolutely crucial in staying alive, so if you’re making a pvp build you need to use impenetrable traits
Is animation cancelling the thing in TESO pvp...? It is something legit or some sort of exploiting?
It’s legit and the devs encourage it as it heightens the skill ceiling and makes the game overall more fun
@@PK-uj8mp The devs are fucking morans who can't fix their game. Encouraging skill isn't the excuse.
Champion 1124 🕵
In about 37 minutes into this video you explained why I always get zerged.
Very good guide, Thank you, this is why I have stared away from BG's, There is so much to fu@king do and remember , for F@ck sack I just want to hit buttons and kill stuff :-)
This... doesn't look fun. Is animation cancelling an ENJOYABLE challenge or just a challenge?
All you ever say is, get someone to make it for you......... Like people give out shit for free or help people on games.
Believe it or not, but it`s common in ESO to get free stuff from other players, like sets, dungeon runs, even expansions for free @Reddit.
Hit or miss? I guess they never miss huh?
make the advanced guide bruh
I hate pvp cyrodiil because of the f***ing lagg.
