The witch and the wardrobe movies were really toned down to not scare 10 year olds or younger, the books however are perfect for a 13 year old. I agree with Tolkien, that used to chat with C.S.Lewis - that the christian themes is a little over the top, but at the end of the last book, i was bawling my eyes out. " This is not the end. This is not even the beginning of the end. This is the end of a beginning. " I hope people find comfort in those wonderful words.
An example of how this show worked best for a young age is Alexei Sayle talking about the French film "Mr. Poo Poo Goes to the Lavatory" - I was 9 when I first saw this and wss in hysterics at that As for the "half time score", one thing that's really missing from context is how frequently this show would break the fourth wall for the Hell of it... almost Brechtian. It seemed really different at the time, but 40 years later it just seems odd
Hey man! Do yourself a favour after you’re done the reactions and rewatch this series. It took me a few times to get all the subtleties and absurdities. Needs a couple watches. 😎👍
I remember seeing another person in the background when I first saw this back in 1990. I thought it was just a production error. I only recently discovered that there was a mystery 5th housemate in the background of the early episodes as a running joke.
@@mijmijrm Well no it wasn't a panda... It was a hippy who you only see if you look carefully. I never discovered him in forty years til I saw a RUclips video on it
@@danieleyre8913 humour is subjective so I can’t tell u you’re wrong but for me PERSONALLY ye series 2 is a lot better. That said Bambi is next and my money is on this guy telling us it’s the best episode he’s seen from the show. Which suggests its not actually THAT subjective. Let’s see. Series 2 being better is also an opinion shared by a lot of people including Lisa mayer and cast members. Series 1 was so crazy and original that it was more experimental. By the time series 2 came about they knew how to make the whole thing tighter
@@danieleyre8913 I know, and I’m open about it. I’d like to say the right thing like “it’s subjective. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion etc” but when most (but not all) agree ESPECIALLY the creators. Then your boarding on fact, with a few outlier opinions
A lot of Brits who recommended Josh the young ones must be a bit stupid. Of course he would not get all the jokes as it’s 40 years old and was very deliberately contemporary of its time. Most British people born after 1985 would also miss most of the jokes. I saw it as an adolescent when it was rerun around 1990 and I missed a lot of the jokes too. Honestly; he would probably find the first Blackadder funnier.
The peoples poet has always been a hero of mine
The 5th character idea is genius I didnt find out about him for over 20 years!
Probably foots most of the bills, but gets even less recognition for it than Neil. Typical!
Not even Nigel Planner knew about the fifth housemate.

SPG seems indestructible too...
Nasty and Bambi are the bomb.
He’s never heard of Bamber and University challenge. He won’t get the joke.
I’ve got a Porsche

If you can find it, shooting stars with Vic and Bob would be a good watch, it’s a panel show
Yeah it the lion witch and the wardrobe but the BBC TV show from early 80s.

Even though he's supposed to be the cool guy, I've never thought that Mike was an important part of the show.
He is important. He’s just not over the top like Rik & Vyv.
I always thought he was pointless. Neil was the best.
😂😂❤
So having got to the end of series 1, have you spotted the 5th housemate yet? Very few do. Blink and you will miss him
Crazy how easy they are to miss - until you have them pointed out then they're so obvious :)
I only discovered this a year back. Freaky as shit
was the 5th housemate the panda?

I’m not into series 1. Series 2 is far superior. I’m glad you’re nearly there
Not really. The two series are about as funny as the other.

You are being generous by saying there are jokes in The Young Ones
Rik t really wanted to play grab ass
I mean, with all those skintight costumes in comic books… 😏
Love Bottom but never found this at all funny.
I agree
Most of these episodes just consist of Rick Mayall's & Ade Edmonson's characters shouting at each other.
Have you given up on Men Behaving Badly?
Fucking hope so
Of course he hasn’t…
MMB is not great but it's better than this sh*t.
Dude, wait until you react to The Dangerous Brothers!!! HOLY SHIT!
LOL I am looking forward to it.
You're misusing the word Bogus.
