I love how outright kind and respected Raiden is in this game compared to other titles despite not being a demigod. He's honestly starting to become my favourite iteration of him so far.

His tower ending makes me think that he MIGHT become evil. Raiden was super chill and just friendly up until Liu Kang told him the reason why he wasn't reborn as a god. Started showing negative emotions although it *seems* like he's dealing with it in a positive way.

Its kind of funny and ironic how now that raiden is a normal human, he his loved by everyone, while Liu Kang is constantly seen in a bad light just for being a god in this timeline, it looks like goodhood isn't something you might want to have in the Mortal Kombat universe :U
People are always gonna be harder on the one in the greatest position of power.
When you have power and big decisions to make, no decision will have universal support. Tarkatans had to exist in some way for mileena and Baraka, Jerrod HAD to die in order for others to flourish, some characters would never be without bodies in the dirt to make way.
Everyone wants a good life
With great powers comes great possibility
Which sucks too because Liu is extremely humble, honest and respectful as a God and Titan. But maybe because he's so kind, people openly think they can view him with such contempt, despite having no idea the hardships he's endured for the sake of all others.
This Raiden is like the most likable dude ever, super humble, super caring, very friendly, super respectful, love his family/friends/village and was content just farming his whole life because it helped his village. This man would be one of the best friends you could ever have in real like, he’s a real one.

Dont forget: He's competent and thinks for himself KNOWS what He wants and above all DOESN'T CONSORT WITH THE ELDER GODS FOR GUIDANCE.

@@Tarpehg I was once just like you. Typing this feels like I’m typing to myself when I was a kid and is something I wish somebody else had told me. On the bright side, hopefully this helps you and others. Excuse the long read.
What you said may have some truth to it but is not entirely true. While there are people who are attracted to certain things, archetypes and certain qualities may be popular across media and society, everybody is different.
Life is more than that and people are vastly more than just your single experience/a single lens/perspective and what society/media dictates.
Do not seek anything from anybody. Don’t be a pushover either and let people take advantage of your goodness. Do not expect things in return. Be good and do good because you are genuinely good. Do not seek validation from others. You do not need it. I cannot stress this enough. You don’t need anybody’s validation but only belief in yourself.
Do not be dismayed if being good doesn’t get you chosen or doesn’t result in something that what you wanted. Be patient, be content and find peace in yourself. Do not dwell on what could have been and things that are not in your control. It is fruitless and holds no benefit. Reflect on your own actions and intentions but do not criticise yourself too harshly, everybody has something they can improve on.
Be good with others and most importantly with yourself. You will either be your best friend or your worst enemy. You’re taking yourself to the grave nobody else, do not hurt your one true friend that you see in the mirror that’s been with you since birth and will be with you at death.
If you seek good people to be with, be genuinely good. The right ones will choose you, my friend. Even if you’re alone, learn to love yourself and be content with being alone. You’ll find just as much great strength if not greater in solitude as well as a real, small social circle.
Whether you’re a spiritual or non spiritual person, just know that you will get what you truly deserve. The energy genuinely you give out in this world will come back to you in some way.

When I heard Raiden mention Kai, I had honestly been wondering what had happened to him. He never left much of an impression in the MK universe after 4 because everyone just thought of him as, "the black Liu Kang". I'd love to see him come back in the near future as a DLC character and have him fleshed out more.
He was originally going to come back in X but he got replaced by Bo Rai Cho, to be honest I wondered how he would have played if he was in X

In his many travels between earth realm and outworld he finds a young drunken fool and understands that both of them are more alike than different. Now Kai is imparting his new wisdom on a new pupil

I honestly wasn't sure how I'd feel about Raiden now being just another monk, but the role reversal between him and Liu Kang is so much better. Liu Kang seems so much more eager to improve people's lives and see them grow, and mortal Raiden doesn't seem to have a hateful bone in his body. The fact that we also get great friendships develop between the Earthrealm crew, Reptile, Ashrah, and Baraka included is so surprisingly warm hearted coming from a series where we gleefully tear out those same warm hearts is pretty impressive.
And Kitana as his possible couple

Liu Kang did Raiden a favor by stripping him of his demigodhood and making him a mortal. He's more happy, humble, and at peace with himself. Instead of vacillating between light and dark, his heart is at peace and is firmly on the straight and narrow path of the light.
Raiden in MK9 - unintentionally got everyone killed (and by extension, got everyone turned into Revenants) when all he could’ve told his past self was “Shao Kahn must win”
Raiden in MK11 - someone prone to hostility
Raiden in MK1 - humble, kind, friendly, etc.
I mean given his head got bashed in right as he sent the message to his past self there's not much info that could've been sent through, if we treat these time messages like Brain/Nerve activity.
To be fair to his past self he was on the verge of death
My guy if he said "shao must win" then he would have let him win the mortal kombat tournament with is NOT what the original raiden wanted and would be a way worse outcome for earthrealm

Shao Kahn winning the tournament would lead to Earthrealm being legally merged with Outrealm and without the Elder Gods stepping in which they only did because Shao Kahn forced an illegal invasion. Many more realms also would have been fucked if Earthrealm wasn't the last one Shao Kahn needed to conquer, and that would be quite a long while until the One Being came back.
Do NOT give God Raiden that instruction, dude will take it literally.

This Raiden is kind and humble, but the ending is a complete twist.
I dont like it
For me, he realized of his past reincarnation's flaws and maitakes. Ashe is also not let it happens, he needed Grandmaster Kuai Liang's help how to control his potentially devastating wrath even as a human.

Similar to Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung, Liu Kang actually neutered/nerfed Raiden in his new era. Dark Raiden usually stems from Raiden having anger issues, taking his responsibility too seriously and ends up crossing the line. In the new era he's basically like a golden retriever. Interesting that in his tower ending he seems to want hardness hise anger and aggressive side. Guess Dark Raiden, is always in his blood, God or not.
Hopefully he has more control of himself when he harness his darker powers later instead of giving in to it.
That's why he go to Kuai Liang so he could control his anger and master it so he can use it if necessary
Yeah. But I think he found himself a good mentor in Kuai Liang and the Shirai Ryu. Anger is a very human emotion, and I like to think Liu Kang made Raiden human so he could have a better chance of being an even greater god than his past self was. (I hope I made sense; that was a hard thing to phrase for some reason.)

I love how they are going with this "things are different" idea,here Kai is the old master guy,and Shujinko and Hanzo are Kung Lao and Scorpion's apprentice (much like Kai was to Liu Kang)

I'm going to be real with you guys. Every fighter in Mortal Kombat 1 is probably in their best iteration while Mortal Kombat 1 does have its problems it absolutely nailed its story and characters. They are the best they've ever been.

Not only did they do Raiden an awesome with this game, but mileena had a MAJOR redemption of her character too. Fire God Lou Kang is still the apex of masculinity imo.
Even in his ending instead of angry and corrupted when he learn that why liu kang didnt make him a god like previous era, he understand the reason and learn to use his rage for better purpose
