  • This is a great Documentary Film about the Asian Hornet - Vespa Velutina.
It's quite long, 41 min but well worth it if you want to see and learn about this ferocious honeybee predator.

Oh wow.... Radical Dreamers. I haven't played Chrono Cross in so many years, and hearing that playing in the beginning just gave me such nostalgic feels. Thank you so much for that.

In Japan they make the opening to the hive just big enough for bees to get go through so the giant hornet can't get inside.

A little liquid Advantage or Topspot that you treat your dogs for fleas ona piece of raw chicken diced up , the wasp will carry back to the nest and it will be dead in a couple days not to come back. Make sure you put the chicken under mesh screen only the wasp can get thru

I've seen an old portuguese beekeeper doing a similar strategy, except he would catch the asian hornets, cut their back legs(so they don't clean themselves) , and then brush their thorax with some insecticide like that mixed with glicerine. Seems to work for him.

A lot of these looked like mandarinia? Are all mandarinia also classed as velutina just bigger?

I guess Europe needs a few Japanese bees so the Japanese bees can teach their cousins on how to kill a hornet by surround the Hornet and kill the hornet by heat.

apis cerana also has other parasites that affect them. that strategy could backfire by bringing other mites, similar to varroa but even more deadly to the bees.
