    It was the biggest jumpscare when I heard the song playing at the Gnome's Legs - It is a Dutch song! The singer says "Let's show there's a party here!" before singing "We're all together now, with you all gathered around us". How on earth did Bill end up finding a Dutch song to play I wonder...

    Great 300th video, congratulations 😊. The J36 is an interesting loco, it was the last to run on your old layout and it was also the last steam locomotive to run in official service in Scotland. The NCB were using a J36 at Seafield colliery in Kirkcaldy and when the letter went out telling everyone to stop using steam locomotives from January 1st 1967, well nobody at the pit got the message so they continued using their J36 for 3 months before the authorities stepped in and stopped the use of it. On a side note I believe the loco ended up at Muirs scrapyard on the Thornton Road at the back of Kirkcaldy and it was picked for parts like the front beam and brake system, which ended up on Maude.

    I know nothing of locomotives, i've never even held a model train in my hands, but I absolutely love fixing things and always wanted to have model trains, never did because i've never had space to have a set, i really like your videos and watch every one when you upload them, i find them relaxing and always learn something, keep it up! Best regards from Portugal my friend!

    A nice selection, but you need a Deltic, I remember them traveling London to Sunderland in the 60's. And keep doing the repairs, great to see the mechanics and common problems.

    Great video, I love. Looking at the train run round some good memories from my child as well. I had some of the same trains. It’s funny you should say the class 37 was dead. On arrival. I remember as a kid in the 80s getting a class 37 for Christmas and a train set, and that also was dead on arrival, I remember my dad fixing it so it wasn’t too much for a problem. I believe one of the wires wasn’t attached. The Rahway is coming along great looks amazing

    Congratulations on your 300th video. It was a wonderful watch. The stories from your childhood and running trains with your dad brought back memories of my own, especially when you ran you "8H22" headcoded class 37: I still have mine, although it's a non-runner at the moment.
    I'd be very happy to watch more running sessions on your layout, accompanied by your entertaining and informative narrative.
    Here's looking forward to # 400.

    I think that you may need a make up brush for Christmas. Dust is a problem when we store our stock on shelves. A very nice collection, but for me Maud is my number one. I do not own one at the moment ,maybe next year I will pick one up from somewhere. Martin. (Thailand)

    Well done on the 300, Bill! Onwards and upwards!
    The stewards on the door of the Gnomes Legs wouldn’t let me in - inappropriate footwear, they said. Whats wrong with clogs?! 😆
    Looking forward to seeing the layout scenery progress and some more epic repair rescues!
    Best wishes from down here on Wirral.

With Christmas coming might be worth while taking your kind sisters along to the exhibitions they might be in a generous mood. I am so sure you treat them generously as well

    Congratulations on reaching 300 Bill. Thought you might surprise us with a spot the sheep episode, but this was fun too!😀
    I had some of the same locos as you on my childhood layout in the 70s/80s, including a BR blue class 37. It was my best runner and yes mine screeched a bit too.
    I've an Accurascale class 37 from the second batch on order, which is due early next year. They're £170, but all the reviews of the first batch say it's excellent, so you may want to look at one of those and they come in a good range of liveries.
    I love my big 4-6-2 pacific express locos like the A4s and Coronation class, but like you also have a soft spot for small tender engines.
    I have the other Hornby J36 in LNER black with red bands, a BR black J15 with red side rods and perhaps my favourite a 2-6-0 K1. All are excellent Hornby models with diecast boilers. J15s and K1s can be picked up for £50-80 secondhand if you keep your eyes peeled.
    Both the blue Bachmann class 812s are gorgeous, not surprised it's your favourite. The price put me off getting one, but they go for even more second hand and don't come up often.
    Rapido have also just announced an 0-6-0 too, the O1 for £170 in a variety of different liveries, including grey and a beautiful SECR green one. I may have to save up for that one.
    Not a tender engine, but the Hornby Pecketts are superb little engines. Some made their way up to Scotland, so if you fancy an industrial shunter I highly recommend getting one at some point. Again they're diecast and in a very wide range of liveries.
    P.S. Hoping we'll get a bit of sheep spotting as the new layout progresses!🐑😄

    Pleased to see a HD loco in the list. Apparently Pendennis Castle was loaned to the LNER in 1925 to settle an argument about performances. Whether it got as far as Scotland isn't stated but a Castle certainly did work on the East Coast mainline.
    Congratulations on 300 videos - think I've seen a fair few😀

    • @marmion150
      @marmion150 8 месяцев назад

      Pendennis Castle could only be run on the southern end of the LNER main line, King's Cross to Doncaster. This was due to structure gauge issues. Clearances more generous in ex GN territory.

Well done on getting to 300 videos, like the film/video from the train its' self, riding behind the locomotive.. 37s' are my fave locomotives I musth have about 14 00 ones and 2 in O gauge, I have even had a go driving 37025 Inverness TMD at York Railway museum for their 37's at 50 weekend. The layout is coming along nicely, keep up the good work, but always have time for yourself and family take care .

    Congratulations on your 300th video!! I always enjoy your videos they’re very informative and relaxing as well. I’m learning about servicing UK models, because I’ve always had a soft spot for the Southern Railway’s Westerham branch. I had an opportunity to visit my Mum’s side of our family in the Brighton area. I had the opportunity to visit an exhibition and bought a book of pictures of Southern Railway trains, which I still have, and I’m always drawn to the photograph of the signal box at Westerham in that book. And I’m contemplating building a model if that bit of railway. Keep up the good work from your friend here in Indiana US.

    Quite an achievement to reach 300 videos - well done. They are always a great watch. I have a Bachmann B1, though mine is the BR black late livery Haymarket based weathered version, and I have issues with the tender too. It is prone to derail occasionally, and even adding weights to the underframe hasn't cured the problem. Perhaps I need to open it up and put them on the inside!

    Ahhh Caley Blue , you can’t beat it . I love mine too. I liked it so much I got both versions in blue . Quite right with the nostalgia too . Just think of the fun you’ve had with your Cardiff Castle over the years . I’m the same , running my old models , like my 1971 Princess Elizabeth. Still nice to run . Regrettably I’m away for Falkirk because it was a very good exhibition last year . Heading to Paisley which seems to be quite big this year , maybe see you there . Congratulations on your 300th . Always enjoyable and I’ve learned lots

    I have a Bachmann B1 too, and it's a great runner - I've got some "Mayflower" nameplates for it.
    Also got a J36 'Maude' - facinating history - with some Hornby 4 and 6 wheel pre-grouping light-up coaches - awesome running in low light - it's DCC, and sadly the TTS sound chip completely ruins the performance...

  • @simonturner5450
    @simonturner5450 8 месяцев назад

    A lovely well put together video, thanks and I guessed the no1. Your derailing B1 tender might be caused by the middle wheels. There is a well documented issue on Bachmann tenders where the middle wheels of 6 wheel tenders don’t move up enough, cure is to open up the holes a little to allow a little more movement. Well done and lang may your layout run.

    Great 300th video Bill. Here's hoping Hornby get that green J36 out soon for you.
    The Wrenn Castle in BR Green is my own absolute favourite. My Nan bought one for me at the local model shop Froude & Hext when I was 14. If I recall it was an expensive loco at over £20. I always treasured it and renamed it Swindon 7037 in recognition of its, and my own birthplace.
