as a woman with asthma this just makes me extra grateful for how careful male doctors I've seen have been about this (they often need to do that same stethoscope test but it's never ever been this creepy). The only weird thing that happened to me once was when I was 16 (and I look quite young, like often 4-6 years younger than my age) I had to have an x-ray on my wrist. the female tech asked if there was any chance I could be pregnant- as she had to- and I said no, and her response was "good girl." it really weirded me out... but if it had come from a male tech it would have been 1000X more creepy.
Every woman who watches these will get it, will cringe before anything even happens because she knows the way these things happen. I wish that men saw them, with women they care about present, that they saw the actions on the films as well as the reactions of the women.
A word of advice! If you are hit on at work, just take it and learn to like it! If not, get a new job! I shouldn’t have to be chasing pussy. I’m a man and I am expecting women to know their f%}king place!
I've had a similar incident happen to me as well, just recently in fact. My suggestion for other women out there is to speak up to the perp standing before you. I threatened him with 'repercussions' if I decided to tell my acquaintances in law enforcement what he had just done to me. Hope that left him shaking in his boots. If it were to go further, it would be his word against mine and he can't prove anything. I ended the interaction and walked out of the room - trust me, he knew I meant business.
When I was 20-22 I lived in Toronto and saw a Dr. for allergies. Brutal allergies my sinuses felt like they were going to explode. I was told to change into a gown so I did. The Dr then asked me some questions and apparently to "hear my lungs properly" with the stethoscope he had to remove my gown. I felt so uncomfortable, my heart was beating so fast. I felt so exposed. I was left bare on top with him doing this examination. It has stuck with me for almost a decade. I know it was wrong what he did. After watching this I have decided to call health records at that hospital and find out what his name was and report him.
This exact thing happened to me, I was 19 and I went to the doctor with swollen glands in my neck. He asked me to remove my shirt and tried to put his hand down my bra. I wouldn't let him and he said "you're fighting me on this" I said yes because I'm not comfortable. He stormed off to his desk and told me to get a blood test. I felt uncomfortable but thought it was all in my head. Several years later o saw him on the front cover of our local newspaper being accused of doing it to minors. I went to the police to help their cause but as I wasn't a minor my statement couldn't be used. He got off with a slap on the wrist and a 9 month paid suspension. It sickens me that he's back working again and those girls are painted as liars.
Nicole Doherty but in MED we have a "head to toe " examination . body is not that simple that the normal outfielders see. for example gallblader stones can have shoulder pain or breast cancers metastasis can spread to lymph nodes and cervicals as well
I would like to point out a few things he did before the obvious which he shouldn't have done: 1:20 he puts his hands on the patient's legs and leaves one of them there for several seconds 2:17 he rests his hand which isn't holding the stethoscope on the patient's belly while she breaths There are a few other things that I noticed which, since I'm not a doctor, I'm not sure whether they're normal or not, but these two I am sure about
These videos are hard to watch but it's a good thing. Many of us, men in particular, know these things happen, but the fact that it's almost never portrayed in medias makes it very unreal to us, as if it was uncommon or exceptionnal in both form and frequency; and so the victims around us feels even the less confortable to break the silence and request help or support. This is terrible because it is preventing us to react adequatly to it, as we would for any other immediate threat to the very lives of our neighbors, friends and family. And so I'm glad I felt unconfortable for a few minutes, because now I'll be aware for the rest of my life.
The breast exam part...my doctor asked me "are you comfortable with me doing a breast exam?" I said no. And then nothing happened. That's how it should be. This video is extremely important.
I don't know about elsewhere, but in India at least, a male doctor can not examine a female patient in the absence of a female attendant/doctor/nurse. well, if not, the doctor can invite litigation.
There is only one rule. "Never try to judge a doctor's instincts or intentions". Our symptoms and related medical knowledge may make us think that some kinda examinations or investigations while okay while some are not. The doctor's knowledge can be a lot more than us. A practical solution is to have a female assistant or attender nearby while a male doctor performs an examination. And the most important thing is to explain the patient the need of anything you(the doctor) wants to perform for the benefit of the patient.
When doctors behave inappropriately with patients, it can be hard to tell exactly what they did wrong. Unless you speak to another physician and they say "that's not how you check for sinusitis!"
just what i was going to say....most are outright sexual assault and not sexual harassment. defeats the purpose of the campaign if they can't get that right. i don't like how its making the men(of course, women dont harass) out to look creepy, a lot of the time these people are very good at being sincere and not looking creepy.
"Sexual assault is any type of sexual contact or behavior that occurs without the explicit consent of the recipient. Falling under the definition of sexual assault are sexual activities as forced sexual intercourse, forcible sodomy, child molestation, incest, fondling, and attempted rape." I would say in most of these videos there is definite fondling and sexual touching. Am I wrong?
These are an incredible public service. Every parent of a teenage/young adult should sit and watch every one of these with their child. And process what they see.

Predators are counting on us women not making a scene. I bet every woman has had these encounters multiple times. Only, who do we tell? The nurse who rolls her eyes, but depends on the doctor for a paycheck? A lawyer, a police officer, a therapist, another boss? No one does anything about it. We freeze up in disbelief as a person whom we trust, breaks that trust and uses us. A simple encounter turns ugly and we are less of ourselves because of it. Men can never understand it unless they were harassed as children and then their denial is ingrained. “Men take action”, so this child was supposed to know how to fight abuse, but, of course, could not.
That is a classic creep move. I cannot tell you how many times starting age 12 I received this and knew it was wrong but felt powerless to stop it. F.n infuriating.
+Deleted Account that part shouldn't make you uncomfortable, it's part of building rapport with the patient. please note that male doctors touch me like that too, but i'm a man and very unattractive. if a doctor touches you that way, try not to jump to the conclusion that he's sexually harassing you (especially with older doctors, who are from a time era when friendly touching of other people was a lot more acceptable).
+sotampacane no, i'm not kidding. here's a few examples... - male doctor asked me to remove my trousers and underwear to examine my groin area. i had asked him about a lump in my neck. - another male doctor touching my arm in a friendly way after taking my blood pressure. - female doctor rubbing and squeezing my hands. all three of these incidents would probably freak out a female patient, but all of these incidents were completely innocent. the first doctor was simply examining my lymphatic system- there are lymph nodes in the groin. the second doctor was a kind, gentle man, who touched my arm simply to build rapport with me- it's completely innocent. the female doctor who obsessively rubbed my hands was getting a feel for my body temperature because of endocrine problems. you have to remember that doctors touch people day in and day out, so body contact that freaks you out is probably nothing in their eyes. i think women (american women in particular) have a tendency to view their bodies as being temples that should never be touched. sorry, but that's a bad attitude to have. obviously, there are lines that shouldn't be crossed, and a doctor should never examine your breasts without obtaining consent, and they should actually explain the breast exam to you if they said that's what they were going to do, instead of mumbling to themselves. but thigh touching? honestly, that's absolutely nothing.
Nothing like that has ever remotely happened to me. I've never heard of anything like this, but if it happened to you I'm sure you are telling the truth

Never thought not to trust a doctor. whenever I've had checks like that the male doctors always get nervy and seem to insist a female nurse being present for me but ive always laughed and said im not fussed but perhaps its less about a female companion and more about covering yourself. might have to think twice next time.
A doctor of (someone of I know) I’m so afraid to speak out groped someone the other day. It wasn’t a big deal, but they scared to go back and they are an adult. And he or she did it in plain sight. I don’t want to give any facts, as I’m scared.
I knew from the beginning these were actors, but this was so very uncomfortable to watch (I cringed). If this were a real doctor he should have had a nurse in the room, plus have her medical chart in front of him, not asking her age and info. We can be so eager to please, and follow directions especially of a doctor; whom we're suppose to trust. I was once her (no, twice). Sorry to say I was very impressionable and trusting. I look back on that now and still feel rage and confusion.I never told anyone back then. I was scared because it was my family doctor, my dad had a temper, I feared if I told him he may go and string that doctor up against the wall. I didn't want my dad in jail, didn't tell my mom until after my dad died. The last doctor was 4 years ago, I actually worked for him besides being his patient. After what he did I left the clinic and him as my general practitioner. All I can say is I know how I felt inside when it was happening, but unable to stop it. (It happened so fast..it mostly just shocked me). Now I make sure a nurse is always in the room. And Not do anything I'm at all uncomfortable with. Thank you for posting this.
You see there doctors they can make it look like there doing there job but if you ever feel uncoufterble always tell them and if they dont stop are argue scream at the top of your lungs
I have a funny story, my sister church group teachers kids a song you cant touch me where my bathy suite should be, he 5 so when he went to the dr and they had to touch him he throw a fit. GOOD JOB kid, it was ok my sister was in the room and he had to do it. but kid did a good job.
I am a female doctor...the things that are wrong with this video are two fold. As a doctor there are indications that this doctor actor oversteps some boundaries..first it is his hand on the top of her legs. A stupid doctor might do this to reassure a patient he has never seen before....when he is about to get up close to her ...examine her throat and facial structures. It is a stupid thing to do. He needs to believe in the respect the public have for the profession. He does not need to be his patients friend. Second he seems to linger a little when examining her breast. He does not teach her to examine her own breasts as he promised. As a medic he should have examined the “normal” breast first. But I think many male doctors are not well trained to perform intimate examinations. As female doctors are not confident manipulating broken or dislocated limbs...there is sexism in the education of junior doctors. We must talk about proportionality here. This doctor needs some retraining. But I get it...if the intention of the doctor was to harass this lady , the shift between professional role and personal gratitude and back again are very subtle. But I think we. Need to stop thinking of doctors as Gods...we are learning on the job all the time. I think it is not until you have practised for about 20 years , if you are capable of it, that you get that clinical professionalism that patients expect and clinical instinct that saves lives..I used to hate been a junior doctor..I felt like an imposter...a medical degree does not make you a saint. And many junior doctors and their bumbling may be described as walking where angels fear to tread. Perhaps the shift in atmosphere was so subtle that is has obscured the fact that doctors do need to examine patients. The video of “The boss” was less confusing.
Ladies, how do you know that a doctor is harassing you while doing a breast exam? Look clinical breast exams are important and are done annually to women above 50 alongside mammograms. Don't ever refuse them, but if you are going for one or if the doctor talked you into one he should always bring a female chaperone (a female nurse or female medical doctor).
Jojoseahorse Ok I understand then try to go to a female family doctor or a female surgeon to get checked. We advice you to get examined, its up to you to take the initiative.
Not your business to "advice" someone else, is it? Clinical breast exams aren't even recommended for asymptomatic women any more, read the guidelines. And why do you think it feels different for a female to do something a person is not comfortable with? And believe me, there are plenty of women out there who see the treatments breast cancer patients go through, and decide it is not worth it. I would never advise someone else not to get any kind of exam, but I am not going to be condemned for my choices.
Jojoseahorse Please know your limits. It is my business. Get me the new guidelines with the class of evidence ( any class of evidence other than A or B will be crap to me.) Unless you have medical training or have read Scwartz or an oncology Journal then don't yap on the net you can hurt someone. And yes you are adviced to get examined, if you refuse it is your decision and I DO HAVE the privilege of giving medical advice. Read the new guidelines she said... What guidelines ... The google guidelines LOL
If you would not use these inappropriate behaviors on someone of the same sex (or other sex if homosexual) , then the actions are clearly wrong. That is why it is harrassment. A heterosexual man would not stroke another man’s hair, touch his thigh, feel his breast, kiss him and then apologize and attempt to kiss him again, show his erect penis and ask for a look. It is not rocket science. If you would not do this to a casual aquaintance of your non-sexual gender preference, then STOP!!!!
Wow this happened to me I was young alone it was when I ran away from my home! Seems like everything is sexual harassment these days, I find it hard to watch that a person just has to be accused and automatically they are guilty. Awkward yes, but harassment during a check up after consent? The is a dramatization, but I want to see a clip when the roles are reversed.

When you go to a doctor you expect to be feel up.
If sexual assault continues repeatedly over a long period of time, does it become sexual abuse?
They should mostly use woman doctors for woman and men doctors for men it just makes it less acward
Omg he is crossing the private zone
In some case You need to inspect the Breast for example an Abscess or a Tumor
No man would ever touch Cynthia Nixon
This would be okay but he never asked for consent before showing her how to check for lumps and the tone in his voice is eek.
And the comment about her breasts oh god
This is assault.. not harrassment...
i was like ohmygodstaaahhhhhhpppppwu the entire video
You see there doctors they can make it look like there doing there job but if you ever feel uncoufterble always tell them and if they dont stop are argue scream at the top of your lungs
Is that a movie? What name of this movie
I'm surprised there's no female nurse around. In some countries, it is mandatory for a female nurse to be around for such examinations.
Cynthia Nixon is Incredible
Seemed normal at first. Then all his professionalism went straight out the window.
3:21 she's like "oh my GAWD why is he doing that?? And most importantly... WhY aRe YoU fIlMiNg Me
I have a funny story, my sister church group teachers kids a song you cant touch me where my bathy suite should be, he 5 so when he went to the dr and they had to touch him he throw a fit.
A video had never made me more uncomfortable. This is wrong on so many levels.
I like this one
Ladies, how do you know that a doctor is harassing you while doing a breast exam?
Look clinical breast exams are important and are done annually to women above 50 alongside mammograms. Don't ever refuse them, but if you are going for one or if the doctor talked you into one he should always bring a female chaperone (a female nurse or female medical doctor).
Anyone can refuse any exam they want. No means no.

When something like this harassment repeates every day, it becomes familiar and no one will see this is Wrong way! You will use of it.....
Doctors can get away with this stuff
If you would not use these inappropriate behaviors on someone of the same sex (or other sex if homosexual) , then the actions are clearly wrong. That is why it is harrassment. A heterosexual man would not stroke another man’s hair, touch his thigh, feel his breast, kiss him and then apologize and attempt to kiss him again, show his erect penis and ask for a look. It is not rocket science. If you would not do this to a casual aquaintance of your non-sexual gender preference, then STOP!!!!
Nice

Seems like everything is sexual harassment these days, I find it hard to watch that a person just has to be accused and automatically they are guilty. Awkward yes, but harassment during a check up after consent? The is a dramatization, but I want to see a clip when the roles are reversed.
This video was made for you.
Jaja así es
My goodness
