No, although these connections are beautiful, they are rather counterproductive in modern timber construction, as there are very good screws nowadays-so you avoid weakening the wooden beams by cutting them! You have to be careful with this, it's true, which is why we advise customers that the joints and drill holes should be additionally reinforced with several long wood screws / fully threaded screws. This is best done about 2 cm around the drill hole and with additional wood glue.
