In the English language, we use the short scale for numbers, for every thousand, we have a new name e.g. Million 10^6 Billion 10^9 ... What you must be talking about is long scale, 10 10s (10^1), hundred (10^2) Hundred hundreds (10^2 × 10^2), thousand (10^4 here) Thousand Thousand, Million (10^8) Million millions, Bilion (10^16) ... Long form numbers are old now and short form is more commonly used. Hope this helped! Just google long form numbers if you feel unsure...
