If you play them well, they can put out more kills and damage than proper damage champions while also making loads of space. The problem isn't that tanks are too strong, because tanks need to be strong and fun otherwise people won't play them. The tank class is in a very healthy spot right now regarding balance - it's the damage class that's the problem. There are a few outliers like Willo, Lian, Bomb King, and Drogoz who are genuinely strong characters that outperform tanks, but besides them, many damage champions are too weak. Evil Mojo needs to continue buffing weak damage champions so that the entire class can be as healthy as the tank class. They started strong with Lian and WIllo buffs this year, and they should focus on helping underperforming champions like Kinessa, Strix, Tiberius, Betty la Bomba, and Cassie going forward.

In overwatch every individual tank is just superior to the awful and often recycled abilities In paladins. In overwatch they can actually out damage their supports healing output but in paladins it's hardly the case when most characters can shrug off damage with Dr cards and get increased healing. It's a bad way of balancing a game when there's a solution to every problem yet the real problem is a over reliance on teamwork in a small game. Paladins is a 5v5 teamwork game with a huge roster of characters which have massive power gaps and mediocre systems. And in both games you did not see how the tank class is actually just more management then anything else and that's why people don't want to pick tank,it's too much to manage for what little reward you can get for risky gameplay and most often then not the tank could only shine becusse someone else shined for them and they could just walk in and take kills or have a talent that pushes them slightly over the edge.

Expectations from other players really turns me off. Like bro I'm already playing the role you guys can't play, at least let me have some fun with it. Some people brag that they've been playing for awhile but they don't even bother checking online guide, forums, etc. I once team w a Nyx that refuse to buy rejuvenate because "cauterize make it lose its value".
For the longest time I stayed away from Fernando when playing tank. I didn't like seeing only 30s as my dps with the flamethrower and that was my biggest mistake. Khan and Fernando are my favorite tanks because of their dps and shield value. Love seeing more nando mains makes the games 10x more fun!
Been sliding lately being forced to fill with characters im not great at (my fault a bit need more champion variety) but had someone say lian and khan were trash in a pre game lobby and then he just sat afk after we lost first round push

Rein is nothing without his shield (you explode when it breaks), rammatra is nothing without his nemesis form, mauga is nothing without his E, junker queen is nothing without her shout.... Tanks in paladins are all in a pretty balanced state and they can actually play the game without relying too much on their supports/dps. Sure they are reliant on their abilities (which is a dumb argument cuz any character is reliant on their abilities) but they do not get blown into ashes when they have a slight down time. About the getting kills part, the DPS passive is exclusive to the DPS which means tanks cannot apply it on the enemies. With the introduction of the passive, they have buffed many healing numbers (which were already blown out of proportion) so the Time To kill for tanks has significantly increased. On the other hand, tanks in paladins do apply cauterize and they deal dps amounts of DMG so they feel impactful

A majority of that game alone proves abilities aren't always a way to balance characters,sometimes it's actually in how you apply damage or based on how you can react to up close threats. In garden warfare every supposed "hitscan" is actually a projectile and it's alot more effort to hit then a fucking koga spamming their smgs into a crowd of bundled up enemy's.
i always feel like playing off tanks like azzan rather than some of the terrible “damage” champs. I only use willow and lian in dps now i feel like almost everything else is just garbage to play now

How the hell do people still play this? Solo queue is trash. The community is made up of either sweats or idiots. It's not getting talked about by anyone and the lack in new champions since omen drop is kind of embarrassing. Vgs is useless unless you're on PC plus the Matchmaking is garbage
