I don't see how he did this soon after having a heart attack...he supported so strongly...it sounds like it was a great muscular exercise and very passionate...it's a wonder this did not kill him.
His second heart attack took his life in Jan. 1975. He was advised to 'tone it down a little' after his first one, but he just couldn't...he had to give 500%.
But he has no accent! It's perfect Italian. When he made his debut in Italy, everyone thought he was Florentine...and when the found out he was American, they asked him, "Where did you learn Italian?", and he replied, "Brooklyn!"
From his biography he was in the hospital for a week or so and checked himself out to go to Jan Peerce's father's burial service. He then went to Italy to record Madama Butterfly with L. Price. Trust me a real heart attack is not something you get over in hours I've had one I know. Bjorling had irregular heart beat attacks and angina which you can get over with nitro. I was scared to sing after mine until the doctor told me that I should to learn i could cope with it.
@ali1082 With all due respect to your right to have any opinion you wish I feel that I must comment that RIchard Tucker NEVER SCREAMED!! At the end of his life he was 61 years old and still in prime voice. You do not sing into your sixties with the beauty, power, and ring that Tucker had abusing your voice.
His heart attack was in the Spring of 1962. This performance is from 1964!
Yes, this was a performance he did hours after having a major heart attack...something that eventually took his life at age 61.
Very good thx!!!

Do you think he supported stronger than many other tenors?
Do you have the "O Lola" from this performance?
when was this recorded?
