The patients it takes to set up fine cutting machinery I find takes a special man of ture talent. Many can make it work few can make it right.

    Hey, Keenan:
Easiest is to adjust for back-to-front level at both ends of the bed. Once that is good, look at the headstock-to-tailstock level, and adjust both feet at one end by the same amount to get that correct. If you're lucky, back-to-front won't have changed.

i started that way and the lathe didn't like that. its twisted. shimming is next after it sits for awhile.

Getting down on the floor is easy as we age, getting back up becomes an experience

What model Jet lathe is this? It looks a little big to be a 1236py.

its a 13" lathe with a 40" bed. anything smaller would not be all that useful for harley work.

The lathe needs to sitting on the concrete and not plastic floor tiles. Also if it has twist in the bed you can remove the twist but it takes time some times days or weeks, small fine adjustments. Also being level from from headstock end to tail stock end not as critical as is the twist. IMO

so i guess you are ok with the rubber pads then. the tiles don't matter.

@@TatroMachine No the machine needs to be sitting on the concrete no rubber or plastic. nothing to compress under the leveling screws

It appears that there is no concrete. That heavy machine seems to be sitting on a wooden floor. In that case, leveling seems to be a fools errand.
