  • Jury selection in the RICO trial of Atlanta rapper Young Thug and his co-defendants has been anything but dull. From an alleged drug deal in court, to a juror being assigned a 30-page written essay, the trial has kicked off to an unusual start. The Law&Crime Network's Angenette Levy discusses six of the strangest moments in the trial so far with Atlanta Journal Constitution Crime and Courts reporter Shaddi Abusaid. They talk about how this could end up being one of the longest trials in Georgia's history.

I heard of a Judge in Manhattan NY that would tell a defendant at sentencing to count the numbers of buttons on his shirt and would give him the amount of years he says. Also, ask the defendant to look at the window and state "Do you see that tree?" Defendant states; "I don't see a tree there, Your Honor" Judge states; "Well. by the time you finish your sentence, there would be one." Mind you, the court house is on the 8th or 9th floor.

Love this judge’s approach to reinforcing the procedural rules around jury selections. A 30 page essay is a lot - but it’s more productive than a potentially career-ending sint in jail or trying to find $1000 you might not have. And it shows that he cares about the rule of law and the importance of the rules imposed on jurors. And it would be a bigger lesson to other jurors because the punishment isn’t just a one off thing you can shrug off but something that exposes you to ongoing public disapproval. especially when he reminded the essay writer that people who looked like them were prohibited from sitting on juries in the past, you can just tell he’s outraged that a civic duty is being trampled on.

The girl or woman who took the short video is in my opinion, the perfect example of how people today especially young people think everything should or needs to be recorded and posted to social media. I don't think there is any other reason for why she did it other than wanting to get something she could post and get attention from at some point. It's crazy how people today think they need to record every single thing they do or see in their daily lives as if the world needs to know. Lol it's like those people who go to concerts and by expensive front row seats yet instead of enjoying the live show they record and basically watch the show through the view of the camera wtf

Also the judge probably doesn't want an average Joe sitting in jail for 20 days losing there jobs and having a record. It does make sense but a 30 page paper is a bit much.

With all respect don't like the way shes talking like against the judge for punishment of that court lady plus people saying rather go to jail 3 days yeah then she gone messed her record up because the judge essay rather to the essay and done with that💪🏻😅

Jesse Weber ruined her moment lol Angenette thought she could just bring up Trump’s name regarding what the co-defendant said but Jesse had to squash her little moment and say dude also said Joe Biden and the governor’s name.

Guess what, I don’t care about “Shaddys” thoughts on anything. Dude is literally streaming from his bedroom located in the basement of his parents home. I’d bet $100 dude is in his boxers and there’s a 6ft bong to his left off camera. Ain’t nothing funny about any of this Shaddy.
