Just ordered one to keep in my survival box in the back of the Jeep. I also have pruning shears, a saw and an Axe along with many other survival implements in the back. Looks like a well made tool. Thanks!!
The key to splitting wood like you were is use wood as long or longer than the axe and small enough in diameter to grip it and axe. Using both hands so your hands are completely clear. Great review
James, you and I appear to share the same sort of sinus issue. . . runny nose out in the cold, cause yeah, my nose is off to the races when I'm out in the cold. That is a great review, my friend! I think you probably covered all the bases on the review, except maybe I missed the price (I looked it up for my locale and found it at Home Depot for $34.97). Again, great review, and be careful with your wielding skills, brother! 🇺🇸💪🏻
There was a 3 minute video at my home I deleted I told the price but the video was long as is so you know yeah my nose is always running lol thanks brother have a great week a head.
James I am figuring like everything we purchase as we get it fine turned in to our liking it will be perfect. It doesn’t take the mega expensive tools to get the job done even though it is nice if we have the funds to put out for them. Often it is just knowing a good quality budget friendly tool and then working it and modifying it to our needs. You’ll get it going on as time passes. Thanks for share 👍🏻
It looks ok, not terribly bad not great. Time will tell, keep us updated ok man, that sheath...agree with what ya said. Like you I just dont feel comfortable with hatchets or axes, I have always just used a big ole strong knife to process lil stuff. Looked like some shroomage on that log lol. There ya go now you're getting it brother, ok its doing pretty good now. Check out axe pucks man, BYX Co Arctic Fox Sportsmans Puck is one amazing puck...thats what I was told anyhow. Great review James!!
@@JamesGOutdoors You're welcome brother!! I love videos that involve the bushcraft and outdoors stuff. Hell Im fairly new to it all also, but its fun regardless of mistakes made ya know. 46 and still learning, never too old ya know lol
The biggest advantage of this ax is that the ax handle and the ax blade are one piece. If you look at Swedish or German axes, the blade and handle are all detachable, so accidents can happen.
Seems like it's a decent enough hatchet. I heat my home with wood and have processed thousands of pounds of wood through the years and wood standing on end is easiest to split no doubt about it. Once you put a good edge in her I'm sure she will serve you well
I been wanting to get a nice one. I use cheaper ones all the time. I never use a knife to batton so I use them alot. You'll like it when you get more used to it.
Don't know if I would waste money on a Dewalt hatchet...they should stick to power tools and leave camping and bushcrafting to the regular makers of hatches. Last thing I want to think about is work when I'm sitting around a fire and seeing Dewalt stamped into the hatchet sticking into a stump. You know what I mean? Anywho thanks for your review. Cheers, Jerbs.
I'll be curious to see how it takes an edge and holds up afterwards. I had a couple Shrade knives with coated blades.. first thing I did was strip them ... Not a fan. An axe is different.. maybe just strip the edge...
Ok so it doesn't work real well on rocks. lol I do like DeWalt products, but had no idea they made these! Pretty cool. I've got an old Easwing that I use and it does a great job too. Thanks for sharing.
Yes estwing I really like it was advertised as a camper's axe so I figured I'd try it out I bought it at home depot for $35.00 thanks brother have a good one.
Didn't know Dwalt had that, I'm a Milwaukee man myself lol wonder if they build an Axe, I like that one and that's one thing I need to add to my camp out gear list.
What I know now no I wouldn't get it for myself. For my kid's I would for some beginners learning of the hatchet. Shit will get the job done I like Fiskars tools they ain't bad at all. Start small and go big if you like the tool's. For the price there badass. 👊💀
@@JamesGOutdoors Yeah I always like to have both one I can go ham on and not care and one that's badass but I love so I take it easy on them, not to easy but a little lol.
To be honest, I don’t like the looks of it! Lol! In my opinion , for camp choirs, you can’t beat a Estwing camp axe if you ask me! What? You didn’t ask? Lol! Thanks for sharing brother!
Thanks for the effort, but I had to stop watching at the 5 minute mark. I think the way you are using the axe is really dangerous. Please at least put on a pair of good leather gloves. Best wishes.

I need an axe for my Quad trips , not too big not too small ? can you recommend this one ?
The Dewalt axe or the husky axe at home depot their both the same size.
Great video thank you. Ordered on after seeing this.

"This can be a very dangerous tool. I'm still not comfortable with it." **Flips it into the air and catches it multiple times**
James , looks like a good axe , thanks for sharing, God bless !
Thanks brother I like it and it works well have a good one.

dude you need of my axes.I dont know how i feel about that axe
I'd rather learn on a 30 dollar axe first it's really not that bad.
Didn't know Dwalt had that, I'm a Milwaukee man myself lol wonder if they build an Axe, I like that one and that's one thing I need to add to my camp out gear list.
the first and failed hit realy made me laugh
How do you feel about this axe after a few months?
It works great.
@@JamesGOutdoors haha already bought pong ago
