Thank you both for replies tedwutang and saifani .I didn't carved a raw carrot yet but i did it to a boiled one :)) Was very close to this shape and it's much easier to do on a boiled carrot lol.I showed it to my family and told them to eat it but they didn't wanted to ruin the shape lol so i eat my work :))) But i will definitely do it on a raw one also to try your suggestion, tedwutang , sounds interesting :) Ty again
Yep, you're absolutely right there Froochie. I have seen this many many times. People will come along, take a look, maybe take a photo..then hump it into the garbage. Not only with food. I have seen it with stone and wood carvings, pastry decorations, clothing and flower art, etc. And it's usually IS some "shmuck" who's ABOVE all this, or some clutz who wouldn't know a piece of art if it fell on him. It's the way of the world, and we might as well get used to it.
Depending on the fruit or veggy being carved, a lot of the "scrap" is taken home by the staff or other people to eat. Some, where a lot of skins and peel are involved...pumpkin, watermelon, etc. it is usually fed to the animals. However, at a lot of veggie carving shows, and especially cooking or cutting utensil shows in the USA the food usually goes into the garbage.
That's really beautiful art, but I hope those shavings are going into a stew or something because there are people out there dying of malnutrition who'd do anything to eat them, and I wouldn't feel comfortable supporting art like this if there was so much waste involved. They're incredibly beautiful sea shells though, I won't deny....

look at it this way :) if he just slices carrot it goes into a meal worth not a lot and it might make enough money to buy another carrot but if he takes the time to make the same carrot look beautiful the value of the carrot goes up dramatically :) now he might be able to afford 100 for the same amount of carrot :) dont think so? when was the last time you saw gerkin sliced into art at mc donalds vs the high end restaruant that we maybe get to eat at twice a year?
I had a tought for you. If you managed to make one and wants to keep it. Soak it in preservatives. You will have your little snail forever. Similar to tropys of hunt.
