Looking very forward to this video.. Was using pcmagic iso from one fo your older videos You showed to using it.. Brian from myself and others a huge thankyou for all these videos so helpful ❤
@@prodigys9823 According to everything I've read, the "clean all" command line will completely erase all disk partitions and content on the drive at once. It will make all partitions and data unrecoverable. But if in doubt, you can always smash the drive with a hammer.
The erase method used on a mechanical hard drive is the same method used for a solid state drives, you write zero to the entire drive, a software tool I use is called kildisk, I have the paid edition but you can download a free edition, it’s also important to use recovery software after erasing your data to make sure no data can be recovered
is there a better way to wipe the free space in an nvme or ssd? would like to hear if there's something other than a damaging wipe or using trim. or is trim plenty? thanks!
Data rescue labs made a video on this, once you delete a file normally and the SSD is trimmed, not even a data recovery lab is able to retrieve it. This is also confirmed by other big data recovery lab articles.
Is it true that Trim is done automatic once a month? Was looking how ro do yhis myself so thanks for that. In Linux you can change the trim command to run weekly or daily. Is this possible in Windows 11 too?
I usually do a Full Format on secondary drives or USB Sticks. One can also do a Quick Format and then use BleachBit to delete the Free Space. I really don't think that anyone reading this comment has data so sensitive where something more advanced is required...
Redo has tools, just boot into it. Also an oldie but goodie, KILL DISK. It lets you wipe using alpha numeric instead of zeros… like FO-nsa….. for the entire disk.

You're so welcome
Thanks Brian. I'd been wondering how to do this recently.

Thank you for sharing this
You are so welcome
Great Tips, Thanks!
No problem!
nice video thanks again for sharing
I tend to use an object of blunt force 🔨 😉
Adata has SSDToolbox which works for other brands as well.
I've always just used Diskpart's command Clean All to totally wipe my drives.
Thanks for sharing
Actually ay data recovery tool can still find the data

@prodigys9823 clean all overwrites it to zero, how can it be recovered?

As usual great video bro
Appreciate it

You're welcome
What if i want to erase my only ssd drive available on my pc? Obviously there is windows 10 installed.
if you were happy to reload windows via disc or usb, and it allows you to delete partitions and format the drive, is this doing any data deleting?

WD doesn't recognize it's own drive through my external nvme enclosure

if this is over writing the ssd isnt this the same as dban ?
dban is not good for SSD
Just encrypt drive and throw away the password. Bitlocker or Veracrypt are both good.
And wipe it after? How about selling or recycling it?

I wonder how to do it on Linux 🤔
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda
But BE CAREFUL.
you can also use gparted or kparted or gnome disk utility.
Im using Hardwipe for securing erase my data i don't uses
Once again, trivial on linux with the dd command
Linux is trivial to Unix 5😂
I just use EaseUS Partition Master, to delete the partitions.
Just use good old DBAN lol
DBAN is not suitable for solid state hard drives they are a totally different storage technology to a mechanical hard drive.
@@fredfenwick7047 it was a joke
@@fredfenwick7047 Exactly. Use ShredOS instead which will blitz SSDs
You've made my life easier _every day this week,_ Sir.
Do feel free to take the weekend _off._
