- Bernie's last haircut was last June, so he's a bit of a mess. about a years worth of coat. this video shows shaving down a matted dog. he's pretty good but can be a bit temperamental.

I think baby talk makes the dogs want to play and not hold still. We baby talk and play with them AFTER the dogs are finished. You are truly awesome. Don't listen to trolls
I really enjoyed watching you for the first time bernie is only on his second clip he might calm down after a few more of his claws being cut...self defense but you handled him so well and didnt even need a muzzle. ....well down to you...and he looked lovely

I've watched a couple of your videos now and I really like the way you are with dogs. I started grooming my own shitzu and I was nervous and was baby talking to him. Did not go well at all! 😂
Next time I was more chill and no baby talk and it went WAY better! So sometimes I don't think baby talk is the way to go. Keep up the good work 💪😊
Baby talk gets you no where in my opinion. I'll OCCASIONALLY talk goofy to mine but that's just for fun. I don't do it constantly.

So they adopted this dog as a stray and then didn’t get him groomed for a year? With no brushing either? I don’t want to be judgemental or unempathetic I understand with COVID or that they could be going through stuff it just hurts my heart, don’t adopt a dog if you can’t take care of it, and there’s at home grooming as well. It’s not too hard to bathe, brush, and trim him down once a month. And these breeds need to be brushed often too.
When you are sick is hard to cut their hair alone. Mine has a year without haircut. But I try to cut with scissors.
@@Michelle36200 yeah I understand that, but at least try your best or ask a friend or family if they could help out. And it’s easy to buy a brush and brush your dog on your lap. They can also choose to adopt a short haired breed so you don’t have to groom them as much
It's a shame that any owner would neglect their dog to this degree.
I think people drastically underestimate how much time and money dogs are to take proper care of

"Just as good"? She is waaay better than Mary Beth. Lauren is much nicer, & doesn't get frustrated with her job like Mary Beth does. Mary Beth's "that's as good as it's gonna get, guys." is not exactly complimentary to her grooming skills.

Another channel I liked more than MB I subscribed to because of the individual's location and how he treats the dogs.
If he was a rescue and the people that rescued him are not taking care of him he needs to go to a better home. Only obvious that he runs around the yard is not in the house never brushed or bathed. This absolutely breaks my heart. And I think you do a marvelous job of taking care of these for babies no matter what anybody else thinks. Hugs

Those who complain about baby talk are clueless with animal behavior. Baby talk excites the animal making it dangerous for the animal and groomer. You have the perfect demeanor.

Talking in a calm tone or not speaking at all is the best way to deal with dogs under stress. Baby talking or high pitched sounds only increases their energy and anxiety. Clearly the people who told you to baby talk haven’t a clue about dog behavior or grooming. Dogs pick up on people energy and the low laid back demeanor you have is ideal for what you are doing.

Bernie is a feisty one! I miss my Diego he was a Shih Tzu terrier mix and looked like Bernie without any white fur! Good job he’s beautiful!
So far is the best groomer I have seen. Removed the mutts so fast. Very good with a dog. Great job!

I don’t believe in baby talk. That’s ridiculous. I have a 28 year old African Grey parrot. He has a 600 word vocabulary and sounds like an adult human talking. You don’t get those results with baby talk. You’re doing amazing. So for the thumbs down people….. they don’t have to watch you. I’m thoroughly enjoying this video. ❤️🇺🇸

At the first snap he attempted to do, you should have muzzled him and shortened his table leash, so you didn't have to spend so much extra time evading getting bit-You did an incredible grooming job on a four-legged disaster! I know because I have been grooming animals for 35 years and I know an excellent groomer when I see them

I watched you for the 1st time groom a dog tonight and you did a fine job. I know a lot of groomers that would have a muzzle on that dog before he even looks sideways.

Funny you should mention that about groomers baby talking to dogs. I have yet to hear a groomer baby talk to a dog on RUclips. 😂 I don’t see what the big deal is.
Dogs need to know who is the master. You can be firm and clear and still be loving. I find my dog feels much more secure knowing I’m the boss and I will take care of her. I’ll have her back when needed. I also make sure she follows rules I set up, like how to behave around humans. She feels more secure when she follows rules. I give her plenty of direction and plenty of affection. It works for both of us. I think it works for all dogs.
You showed you were the boss to that dog and still showed some sensitivity when it was nervous as you were working on its legs. Kudos to you. I think you are a good groomer. I’d be confident taking my dog to you.
BTW, my wife and I never baby talked to our kids either. We always spoke proper English. Now they have pretty much the best vocabulary skills among their peers. 😂

First video of yours I’ve watched. No clue why people think you are mean....you can’t really baby talk the dogs because then they get overexcited when you are trying to keep them calm. I really like your style! Calm, sweet and sometimes firm! I would def take my dogs to you. Oh yea....also...subscribed now :)
Agreed, there's nothing mean about disciplining a dog not to bite / nip, it's just as much for them as it is us grooming them. Some dogs end up being a fortune eg; Vet Anesthesia grooms because no one trained them, people just baby talk to them which makes them think it's okay to act out.
Agreed. She is really good. Professional and considerate. I think sometimes people cannot deal with women who are not always smiley and 'soft'. If she didn't have a good heart she would not be in this business.

Wonderful job and your patience with this dog is evident. Actually I think this sweet dog was patient with you as well. My dog will get knots sometimes and they pinch him and he doesn’t want me near them to try and cut them out.
