People think its “easy” to get a journalism major. Good luck, they put sooo much pressure, and you can never please everyone. You have to be mentally tough because a lot of ppl will throw crap at you in this industry. ALOT
Journalism grad speaking, this was a fun major to do in college. I just had a talent for writing and I saw Journalism as my best way to use that skill.

Thanks for this amazing informative video Katie! I currently want to be an actor but journalism is something that I am also interested in. I want to be able to interview actors and singers for magazines and TV and hear the amazing things they have to say
Thanks for the video Katie! Im a freshman here at MTSU and I am a Journalism Major and recording industry minor, and I found this very informative, so I appreciate it.
My advice to you: consider your passion. Can a career be made of it? If not, can something involving your passion be of interest to you? Also, test the waters to find new passions. I came to college dead set on Journalism and that is my major, but I've taken two psychology courses that I really love and understand well along with environmental issues. I'm also very good at gardening and understand the science behind it. I have an unhealthy obsession with donuts and hope to open up a shop as a second job in the future. God gives us many gifts, we just have to find them and utilize them. You don't have to be a lawyer or doctor in order to be successful. If you don't love what you're doing, you won't do it right. May God bless you and guide you in this time.
You are so well spoken and very articulate and intelligent! which is totally mesmerizing for your age , we just have to watch you we can’t help it you’re awesome young lady your future is bright❤️
This gave me an idea! Yes, I'm a journalism major at an hbcu. My idea is to take a picture with one of those cameras that print the film after snapping a shot. Then placing the photo in a journal and then writing about it. Screw online blogging lol #deletedtumblr
What career can be chosen if one has a journalism degree and wants so be a journalist who specialises in writing? So confused by the terms Also do someone need to be extroverted to become a news presenter or anchor?
Hey, I'm a second year student pursuing my Bachelors in Journalism and Mass Communication from India. As for your question , if you want be be a journalist who specialises in writing, you could become a content writer for a television news channel , a newspaper or you could even write scripts for radio programs. Not only that but you can even work for a top magazine. Just know that if you hold the specialisation in writing skills , the door of endless opportunities gets opened up for you because there's no media company that could ever work without content. Also, as for your second question, it's not necessary for a person to be extroverted so as to be an anchor. There's alot of actors, singers, standup comedians etc who are actually extremely introverted in real life but they still manage to do their job because they like it. So, if you have the passion for it , nothing really matters. You could do absolutely great at a job that requires you to be an extrovert, doesn't matter if you're an actual extrovert or not. [Out of context, but I just came through your comment three years later and I'm curious as to whether you did pursue media or not :) ? ]
I think it depends on the school. At my university I am a multi-media journalism student, which falls under the umbrella of communications, but it it's still called an MMJ degree.
Hey are u in NYC? I am into journalism, but i want tp also be an actor, and model. Is there a way u can contact me and possibly work together? Im starting college in the fall of 2019
