I am hispanic and grew up in a liberal household, in a liberal city and went to liberal schools. When I first heard a Ronald Reagan speech on RUclips my mind was blown. It was so damn refreshing that my eyes started to water. I love this country and wish we had politicians like him today, who love America and talk about what a great country we are. TRUMP IS the current Reagan. Positive, clear thinking, innovative, problem solving. In his eyes there is no nation more important than the USA. If an Idea hurts the USA than the idea is NOT WORTH SUFFERING FOR.
The only state Reagan lost was Minnesota which was Mondale’s home state and he BARELY won it. Reagan won all of those states because he was the first politician to actually KEEP the promises he made when he was elected in 1980.
John F. Kennedy was the best President our country ever had. With his brother Robert right behind him. They worked together to give poor people money to survive and so much more.

Not having heard this speech before...within the 1st 5 min or so, the fact the parallels are so close, without much change. he pointed out right off the cuff a traditional marxist/socialist signal..the government knows whats best for you and your family..more so than you do for yourself and your family. He was a great, great man. I grew up in an all-Democrat family but I became a huge Reagan fan and a Republican because of Reagan and proudly voted for him with my first ever presidential vote for his re-election, and I especially loved him after he was shot. I lost my own father to violence at a young age and while it may sound corny, I saw Reagan as a superhero-like father figure who survived. The way that man, at his age, came back from multiple gunshots with such bravery and humor and grace, while reassuring the nation and the world that he was well and in charge, had an enormous impact on me. He was a great man and the best President of my lifetime, hands-down. I loved that guy and I still do. Godspeed, Ronnie!
Reagan is the reason why I am a conservative… grow up in : single parent, on welfare, a minority and Sacramento California..With a liberal mom… I would listen to Reagan speak with my grandpa watching TV.. I knew I was whatever he was because I believed like he did!!

Reagan was an actor, but through his career his actions have shown that he loves this country. His accomplishments have shown that he was a very smart leader, one of our very best.

Who really cares if he said 9 or 11, but technically speaking, it's not a math issue it is a grammar issue, and technically it is 11 words, not 9. The fact that he WAS an actor is actually incredibly important to Reagan's story. Being such a well-liked and positive human being, along with his keen intellect, he was elected to the presidency of the Screen Actor's Guild. The union for actors that was responsible for things like salaries, other compensation, and benefits for the Hollywood movie stars. It was here that he learned a diabolical truth: Hollywood is filled with communists, and EVERY union is filled with communists. You would think that something as frivolous as movies would not be that meaningful to a future statesman, but it was here that Reagan learned how communists, under the labels of "Socialist" and "Liberal" infiltrated and undermined organizations, and it was here that he learned that to stop them you have to expose them, shame them, and starve them of money. Get them out of the places of power or the organization will fall. This is how he rose to power in the GOP. This is the message that resonated with the American Voter, and these were the tools Reagan used to undermine the Evil Soviet Empire. The average politician today is completely clueless about how marxist cultural subversion works, they never had to deal with it in their industry. He certainly was more than just an actor, but being an actor may have helped him save the world.

It is a big political issue that happened in Britain when the country voted to stop being a part of the European Union (EU). It happened closely to the time that Donald Trump was voted into the American White House. Both the people who voted for 'brexit' and the people who voted for DT were treated similarly, both groups were called many derogatory names for taking part in an election run and organised by their countries and for not voting a certain way: the way the media and the establishment wanted them to. For me brexit was an eye opener, I started to look at politics and the media in a very different way. I remember prior to the election in the US between Clinton and Trump, saying to my sister (who was over here visiting at the time from the US) 'How did your country end up with them two as the options?' because to me and from the little I knew then I did not think either was a good choice, my sister spoke to me about Obama, Clinton and Trump and why she was going to vote the way she was. Over here in the UK, most people liked Obama but if you were to ask anyone about any of his policies etc, they would not know, me included. I did take exception to him though when he came over here at the time of the brexit vote to talk to our then PM, he gave a press conference where he basically told the people of the UK we must vote to stay in the EU or we would be 'At the bottom of the list' from the US point of view, I heard a threat there and others did too, I did not take it kindly. After DT was voted into the WH, many of the people around me would talk about him in a very unpleasant manner, there were programmes about him and the media over here hated him. My daughter who in in uni learning performance had a class about him, yeah a British student who was doing music performance had a lesson about DT and about how his tweets were so divisive etc. I was caught off guard by a work mate who said how DT was the most divisive president America had ever had, I just said that I did not think that was true and then I had to put up with a rant about children in cages. I was not ready for that amount of passion from someone talking about an American politician where there had never been any in our country before. People over here HATED the president of the USA, what was behind it? I saw this change, and anyone on the right was now the enemy, I had to learn more. Now to clarify my political affiliation was always centre left, I had voted Labour most of my voting life but could see something wrong especially around brexit and although not a big fan of the conservatives felt I had to change the way I voted. Although Boris Johnson our present PM does say 'build back better' more times than I would like. I feel we have no-one over here in the world of politics who is truly on our side. I could see the difference in the way our media spoke about Donald Trump compared to other US leaders, I could see the affect of that on the people around me, the way people spoke, the way they acted, only the other day it came up in conversation that I liked Donald Trump as the president and bloody hell the reaction I got was astounding, yet you ask those same people about Bidens policies and not only do they not know, they don't care, that switch that had everyone so interested in the US president turned off along with our medias hate campaign. It really is amazing to witness. Through my learning experience of needing to know more, I have come to realise the two countries are tied together, what affects the US affects us, the US leaders policies in some crazy way influence ours and obviously the economic state of the US is crucial for all western countries although I would have argued against this not long ago. Ironically American freedom will decide ours. There are many more things I could say, I watch programmes like the LFR family because they are on a similar journey to me. I like to learn along with them and in some cases so I have an answer to counter with if I need them. This speech by RR is breathtaking I made my other half watch it too, I found it scary how relevant it is and made me more aware that we need leaders who think this way. I hope this answer is ok.

President Reagan spoke to us as though we are intelligent and capable. He did not talk down to the American people. He raised the bar and forced us to look up so that we may see and prosper.

I grew up in a family, economic situation and community that screamed Democrat. Broken home, eating USDA commodity foods at grandma's on Wed. nights, etc. I will never forget backing Carter during his first run, against Ford, though I was too young to vote. That all changed with Ronald Reagan. Reagan resonated a sense of truth to me in 1980 that has remained with me since. That was the first time I ever stayed up late to watch election results coming in and the happiness I felt inside as his count went higher and higher. Reagan, more than anyone else in my youth and young adulthood, taught me to think critically and reason through what people were saying on TV, etc. and look beyond the rhetoric for facts. He showed me that I could decide for myself and more (most?) importantly, I had a responsibility to decide and to act and to think for myself, not let others think for me. It's 2022 now and I was born in the 1960s. I say this without any doubt: in my whole life the only decade I would like to live again would be the 1980s. I saw and experienced the changes and felt the security and pride that was spearheaded by President Reagan.
I had the honor of walking precincts in Southern California for then-gubernatorial candidate Reagan in 1966. I can still remember the excitement of election night '66 when Reagan smoked Moonbeam's father, Pat Brown, and the Demokrat machine. I didn't think -- 50 years later -- that they made men like this any more; but along came Donald Trump. The best hope for this country remains Mr. Trump; he was cheated out of a second term which I truly hope he gets in 2024.
Our last great president in many years. I was too young to understand politics for most of his presidency but toward the end i started recognizing more and wish we had more like him. Our country would truly be great today, not the parody/mockery that it has become in my opinion.

It's easy to be fooled by people we trust. It took me many years to realize that my parents didn't know everything; none of us do. People are people and they pass to others what they perceive and believe, but those ideas are not always correct, even if they are well-meaning. I applaud this young man's channel because he is stepping out of his comfort zone and searching for answers wherever they are. I hope more people accept his example and do the same.
I served under Reagan in the military. Trust me, he knew exactly what he was talking about, Russia totally feared this man. He was a great President and an even greater humanitarian.
@@Coffeeology From what I could gather about Iran Contra, Reagan probably knew the broad picture but was kept in the dark as to the specifics of different tactics within the operation for plausible deniability, in the event that it was exposed. As for Russia this only made them fear him more. It signaled to them that Reagan was not afraid to operate in an unconventional manner. It also showed that He, with his XO' s could be successful in them.

Before he entered politics, he was an actor and a radio broadcaster. That being said, his talent for speaking was just a tool he used. He wasn't an empty suit with a gift for gab. He was a serious thinker with strong convictions that were based on principles that he actually believed. So many politicians will do or say whatever they think will get them an extra vote. Reagan truly believed in the things he said and invited the people to join him rather than pandering to them.
He might have started off that way, but are you sure he stuck to them? If he were to run today, as he ran in 1980, and 1984, he would have been kicked out of the current GOP for being a lefty commie. He proposed amnesty for all immigrants already here, legally or illegally, called for an open door policy between us and Mexico, was famously anti-gun, and passed sweeping anti-gun laws after Brady was shot. After 84 though, he changed his stance on boarder security to please the base, changed his mind about helping the needy and created the narrative still used today about welfare queens. He ran on small government and low taxes. After passing the largest tax cut of all time, he realized how bad he screwed up and had to raise taxes at least once in 1982, 1984, 1985, 1986 and 1987. And "the government" grew exponentially under his watch, except for corporations, Wall Street and big business, which ran amuck through the Clinton years culminating in 2008 mortgage bubble burst, although that had other factors, that led to that too, not blaming that entire recession on Reagan. IMO, that and several other policies and decisions he made impacted this country negatively in a deep long lasting way, and are one of the main reasons that our country has gone down the toilet the past 30yrs. That's weird that you say that. I personally liked Ronald Reagan, though I was in elementary school when he was president, I have thought he was the best president we've had in my lifetime. He was also the last president that I have actually felt was genuine, not motivated to increase himself or using the office to gain advantage for his family and investments. I say your comment was strange because my dad says the exact opposite. He says that Ronald Reagan would change his stance according to what would get him votes, he says that's why he switched from Dem to Rep, because it was the best way for him to win political favor. My dad has been a dem all of his life, so I suppose he may have been a bit upset about Reagan switching up.
I was a teen in the 80's sitting in front of the TV listening to Reagan. He spoke to you not at you. Yes, he was not perfect but he was best I have seen in my life so far.

Reagan was a great communicator and a great president. The thing I took away from this speech was the honesty of Goldwater. My aunt was apart of his presidential campaign. She passed away in 2016. The Goldwater family had a family member present at her funeral. That blew me away. After all those years his family came to show respect to her. My family is not a famous family. We are a humble native American family from a small reservation in AZ. Just a small footnote into the honesty and belief in which Reagan speaks.
I served in the navy during the cold war under Reagan. We all would have gladly fought to the death under his leadership. He was a visionary whom loved his country and believed in our system of governance, as well as our economic model. Unlike most politicians, he didn't have a phony bone in his body. We sure could use him now.
My dad voted for Goldwater because of Reagan's speech. I remember him having an argument with my mom over her support of Johnson. My dad was a career Army officer, and he told her that if Johnson won, he'd be sent to the war. And, he did serve in Vietnam shortly after the election.

I was in the air force when Reagan was elected. I was 19 years old and he was the first president I had the chance to vote for. Under Jimmy Carter, a democrat, the morale of the military people around me was notably suffering. Bad pay was definitely contributing to that. The day that Reagan was elected, it felt like we all took a deep breath. We finally had a Commander in Chief that it felt like we could respect. He passed one of the biggest pay raises at the time. He also displayed a level of respect for the military members that really made us feel he had our backs too. He was one of, if not the first, presidents that actually would return our salutes, showing the return of respect to us that we were required to give those of his office. He became the Icon of what being a conservative meant to be. He was willing to make the hard choices and take the less traveled path to fixing a problem. Not just the easy way of the lefts, just throw more money at the problem.

I live in a very liberal part of the country and have had many conversations about Regan with my liberal friends. I never understood the extreme hate they have for him as President, until now. I had the pleasure of being at three Ronald Reagan speeches when I lived in Miami, and I've been to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Ca. four times. In June of 2004 I attended the viewing of his casket at the Capital Rotunda. He was a great man, president and an extraordinary storyteller.
I met him once. I was on a Washington DC field trip from Florida in fifth grade . They marched us into the oval office and in waked Ronald Reagan he introduced himself and held out his hand to shake ours . But I hid my hands behind my back because I was terrified of him.

Got to speak with Reagan when I was 16. Also spoke to Thomas Sowell after one of his speeches when I was 12. Both gave me advices I didn’t quite understand until I was older.
When I was a young Marine stationed in California, my girl came by one morning and suggested we go to a political rally that afternoon. I urge everyone to listen to that speech and learn why it was so important to people that had lost their freedom. One person can make a difference.

Reagan's cabinet didn't want him to say the "tear down that wall" line. They kept cutting the line, and Reagan kept adding it back in. He knew his speech so well that even though the copy he had at the podium didn't have that line he knew where to insert it in his speech from memory.

I remember what America felt like during the Regan years. It was proud. It was confident. It was industrious. We were proud Americans. I’m listening to this at work and want to cry with hearing his words.

I'm in high-school middleclass through military and working classes. And this speech is so much more important today for our HOMELAND then ever before. FUN FACT: Peter Robinson, host of Uncommon Knowledge, was a speech writer for Reagan in the 80s. He said Reagan read ALL of the drafts and frequently sent them back for corrections. Because he was so good, the speech writers really had to step up.

I lost my own father to violence at a young age and while it may sound corny, I saw Reagan as a superhero-like father figure who survived. The way that man, at his age, came back from multiple gunshots with such bravery and humor and grace, while reassuring the nation and the world that he was well and in charge, had an enormous impact on me. His accomplishments have shown that he was a very smart leader, one of our very best.
A time of prosperity in the Reagan years and I remember even back then the push back Reagan always got from the more radical democrats. Apparently democrats aren't looking for us to prosper in America. 😢 as someone who was fooled for so many years....my eyes are open now....and it's pretty scary.🤯😳

The fact that he WAS an actor is actually incredibly important to Reagan's story. Being such a well-liked and positive human being, along with his keen intellect, he was elected to the presidency of the Screen Actor's Guild. The union for actors that was responsible for things like salaries, other compensation, and benefits for the Hollywood movie stars.
It was here that he learned a diabolical truth: Hollywood is filled with communists, and EVERY union is filled with communists. You would think that something as frivolous as movies would not be that meaningful to a future statesman, but it was here that Reagan learned how communists, under the labels of "Socialist" and "Liberal" infiltrated and undermined organizations, and it was here that he learned that to stop them you have to expose them, shame them, and starve them of money. Get them out of the places of power or the organization will fall.
This is how he rose to power in the GOP. This is the message that resonated with the American Voter, and these were the tools Reagan used to undermine the Evil Soviet Empire. The average politician today is completely clueless about how marxist cultural subversion works, they never had to deal with it in their industry.
He certainly was more than just an actor, but being an actor may have helped him save the world.

Do you know anything about 'brexit'? It is a big political issue that happened in Britain when the country voted to stop being a part of the European Union (EU). It happened closely to the time that Donald Trump was voted into the American White House. Both the people who voted for 'brexit' and the people who voted for DT were treated similarly, both groups were called many derogatory names for taking part in an election run and organised by their countries and for not voting a certain way: the way the media and the establishment wanted them to. For me brexit was an eye opener, I started to look at politics and the media in a very different way.
I remember prior to the election in the US between Clinton and Trump, saying to my sister (who was over here visiting at the time from the US) 'How did your country end up with them two as the options?' because to me and from the little I knew then I did not think either was a good choice, my sister spoke to me about Obama, Clinton and Trump and why she was going to vote the way she was.
Over here in the UK, most people liked Obama but if you were to ask anyone about any of his policies etc, they would not know, me included. I did take exception to him though when he came over here at the time of the brexit vote to talk to our then PM, he gave a press conference where he basically told the people of the UK we must vote to stay in the EU or we would be 'At the bottom of the list' from the US point of view, I heard a threat there and others did too, I did not take it kindly.
After DT was voted into the WH, many of the people around me would talk about him in a very unpleasant manner, there were programmes about him and the media over here hated him. My daughter who in in uni learning performance had a class about him, yeah a British student who was doing music performance had a lesson about DT and about how his tweets were so divisive etc.
I was caught off guard by a work mate who said how DT was the most divisive president America had ever had, I just said that I did not think that was true and then I had to put up with a rant about children in cages. I was not ready for that amount of passion from someone talking about an American politician where there had never been any in our country before. People over here HATED the president of the USA, what was behind it? I saw this change, and anyone on the right was now the enemy, I had to learn more.
Now to clarify my political affiliation was always centre left, I had voted Labour most of my voting life but could see something wrong especially around brexit and although not a big fan of the conservatives felt I had to change the way I voted. Although Boris Johnson our present PM does say 'build back better' more times than I would like. I feel we have no-one over here in the world of politics who is truly on our side.
I could see the difference in the way our media spoke about Donald Trump compared to other US leaders, I could see the affect of that on the people around me, the way people spoke, the way they acted, only the other day it came up in conversation that I liked Donald Trump as the president and bloody hell the reaction I got was astounding, yet you ask those same people about Bidens policies and not only do they not know, they don't care, that switch that had everyone so interested in the US president turned off along with our medias hate campaign. It really is amazing to witness.
Through my learning experience of needing to know more, I have come to realise the two countries are tied together, what affects the US affects us, the US leaders policies in some crazy way influence ours and obviously the economic state of the US is crucial for all western countries although I would have argued against this not long ago. Ironically American freedom will decide ours.
There are many more things I could say, I watch programmes like the LFR family because they are on a similar journey to me. I like to learn along with them and in some cases so I have an answer to counter with if I need them. This speech by RR is breathtaking I made my other half watch it too, I found it scary how relevant it is and made me more aware that we need leaders who think this way. I hope this answer is ok.

I grew up in a family, economic situation and community that screamed Democrat. Broken home, eating USDA commodity foods at grandma's on Wed. nights, etc. I will never forget backing Carter during his first run, against Ford, though I was too young to vote. That all changed with Ronald Reagan. Reagan resonated a sense of truth to me in 1980 that has remained with me since. That was the first time I ever stayed up late to watch election results coming in and the happiness I felt inside as his count went higher and higher. Reagan, more than anyone else in my youth and young adulthood, taught me to think critically and reason through what people were saying on TV, etc. and look beyond the rhetoric for facts. He showed me that I could decide for myself and more (most?) importantly, I had a responsibility to decide and to act and to think for myself, not let others think for me.
It's 2022 now and I was born in the 1960s. I say this without any doubt: in my whole life the only decade I would like to live again would be the 1980s. I saw and experienced the changes and felt the security and pride that was spearheaded by President Reagan.

I can still remember the excitement of election night '66 when Reagan smoked Moonbeam's father, Pat Brown, and the Demokrat machine. Our last great president in many years. I was too young to understand politics for most of his presidency but toward the end i started recognizing more and wish we had more like him. Our country would truly be great today, not the parody/mockery that it has become in my opinion.
Ronald Reagan also taught me as a high school student to pay attention to the facts. The 80's were great. I really do wish we all could go back to that time with the knowledge we have now. What we could do with that, for this wounded country we live in today.

As for Russia this only made them fear him more. It signaled to them that Reagan was not afraid to operate in an unconventional manner. Before he entered politics, he was an actor and a radio broadcaster. That being said, his talent for speaking was just a tool he used. He wasn't an empty suit with a gift for gab. He was a serious thinker with strong convictions that were based on principles that he actually believed. So many politicians will do or say whatever they think will get them an extra vote. Reagan truly believed in the things he said and invited the people to join him rather than pandering to them.
He might have started off that way, but are you sure he stuck to them? If he were to run today, as he ran in 1980, and 1984, he would have been kicked out of the current GOP for being a lefty commie. He proposed amnesty for all immigrants already here, legally or illegally, called for an open door policy between us and Mexico, was famously anti-gun, and passed sweeping anti-gun laws after Brady was shot. After 84 though, he changed his stance on boarder security to please the base, changed his mind about helping the needy and created the narrative still used today about welfare queens. He ran on small government and low taxes. After passing the largest tax cut of all time, he realized how bad he screwed up and had to raise taxes at least once in 1982, 1984, 1985, 1986 and 1987. And "the government" grew exponentially under his watch, except for corporations, Wall Street and big business, which ran amuck through the Clinton years culminating in 2008 mortgage bubble burst, although that had other factors, that led to that too, not blaming that entire recession on Reagan. IMO, that and several other policies and decisions he made impacted this country negatively in a deep long lasting way, and are one of the main reasons that our country has gone down the toilet the past 30yrs.
And then there's always this tape of him talking to Nixon, that hasn't done him any favors as far as his legacy goes. .

That's weird that you say that. I personally liked Ronald Reagan, though I was in elementary school when he was president, I have thought he was the best president we've had in my lifetime. He was also the last president that I have actually felt was genuine, not motivated to increase himself or using the office to gain advantage for his family and investments. He says that Ronald Reagan would change his stance according to what would get him votes, he says that's why he switched from Dem to Rep, because it was the best way for him to win political favor. Reagan was a great communicator and a great president. The thing I took away from this speech was the honesty of Goldwater. My aunt was apart of his presidential campaign. She passed away in 2016. The Goldwater family had a family member present at her funeral. That blew me away. After all those years his family came to show respect to her. My family is not a famous family. We are a humble native American family from a small reservation in AZ. Just a small footnote into the honesty and belief in which Reagan speaks.
I served in the navy during the cold war under Reagan. We all would have gladly fought to the death under his leadership. He was a visionary whom loved his country and believed in our system of governance, as well as our economic model. Unlike most politicians, he didn't have a phony bone in his body. We sure could use him now.

My dad voted for Goldwater because of Reagan's speech. I remember him having an argument with my mom over her support of Johnson. My dad was a career Army officer, and he told her that if Johnson won, he'd be sent to the war. And, he did serve in Vietnam shortly after the election.

I was in the air force when Reagan was elected. I was 19 years old and he was the first president I had the chance to vote for. Under Jimmy Carter, a democrat, the morale of the military people around me was notably suffering. Bad pay was definitely contributing to that. The day that Reagan was elected, it felt like we all took a deep breath. We finally had a Commander in Chief that it felt like we could respect. He passed one of the biggest pay raises at the time. He also displayed a level of respect for the military members that really made us feel he had our backs too. He was one of, if not the first, presidents that actually would return our salutes, showing the return of respect to us that we were required to give those of his office. He became the Icon of what being a conservative meant to be. He was willing to make the hard choices and take the less traveled path to fixing a problem. Not just the easy way of the lefts, just throw more money at the problem.
He was the first president that I was able to vote for and did so and I am proud of it. Yes I miss him.

In the Navy we suddenly were taking small ships into the middle of Russian fleet exercises and taking video of everything. They buzzed with helicopters and jets over and over and were just ignored. Fearless under Reagan and the Soviet Union knew it!

I had the pleasure of being at three Ronald Reagan speeches when I lived in Miami, and I've been to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Ca. four times. In June of 2004 I attended the viewing of his casket at the Capital Rotunda. He was a great man, president and an extraordinary storyteller.
I met him once. I was on a Washington DC field trip from Florida in fifth grade . They marched us into the oval office and in waked Ronald Reagan he introduced himself and held out his hand to shake ours . But I hid my hands behind my back because I was terrified of him.

The video transports you back almost 60 years, but the message is appropriate today. Give it a listen.

You will hear Reagan in a 1964 speech for then-candidate for President, Barry Goldwater. When I was a young Marine stationed in California, my girl came by one morning and suggested we go to a political rally that afternoon. I had never been involved in politics before, but thought - why not check it out. It was Reagan in his first run for President and I became a fan instantly after his rally speech. Like you said, he sounds like he knows what he's talking about. That's why they nicknamed him The Great Communicator while he was in office. Thanks for bringing this to us!
I saw Reagan speak at the National Jaycees convention in San Antonio in 1981, just over 3 months after he was shot. Was a vigorous, humorous, motivating speech.

I was 17 when Reagan was voted in the first time. My father was a democrat, my mother a republican. The coversations, lol, if you could call them that around our dinner table for over a year was educational to say the least. Ive been both a registered democrat and republican during my life based on age and experiences. Ive voted for both sides at different times and for different people based on their ideas. I do not recognize the govt today but damn if it doesnt remind me of the times prior to Reagan's time. I hate both sides equally for their corruption and their elitism. Very few politicians uphold the rights of the individuals these days. I miss Reagan.

Ronald Reagan was inspiring at home but was also one of the great world leaders of all time. His speech at the Berlin Wall was one of the great moments in world history. I urge everyone to listen to that speech and learn why it was so important to people that had lost their freedom. One person can make a difference.

Actually, the Berlin Wall didn’t come down until Bush Sr. was President, but that doesn’t take away from the power of the speech. My favorite moment from the speech (which occurred shortly after Hinkley attempted to assassinate him) was when a balloon popped loudly during the speech…Reagan flinched briefly, composed himself, and exclaimed “missed me”. 😆
Reagan's cabinet didn't want him to say the "tear down that wall" line. They kept cutting the line, and Reagan kept adding it back in. He knew his speech so well that even though the copy he had at the podium didn't have that line he knew where to insert it in his speech from memory.
The deep state tried to kill him. They killed JFK and may try to kill Trump as well. We have been at war for a long time. The left is the enemy and no matter what you thought you knew, the left has been trying to bring this nation down since JFK. I remember what America felt like during the Regan years. It was proud. It was confident. It was industrious. We were proud Americans. I’m listening to this at work and want to cry with hearing his words.

I consider it a privilege to have been alive during Reagan's presidency. This man put pride back in America again. He truly believed that the thing that made our country great was when government got out of the way and unleashed the individual to be free to do his very best! When his presidency ended I remember being in tears watching him and Nancy board Marine One to return to civilian life. Thank God for the great Ronaldus Magnus!

I thought of the 5 years stationed at Hanscom AFB (Lexington & Concord MA) and how I enjoyed being where the Revolution was started. I loved Reagan's reference to those citizen soldier's courage! I'm stirred by hearing this message again. Keep up the good work! Blessings!
Ragan was an actor, a Hollywood guy. Not a politician, not a lawyer, not a judge, and yet he's one of the best communicators and presidents ever.
Well, he was an actor, combining the talent of reading a room and presenting your cause with passion is something any qualified actor would be capable of doing. Now mix in his genuine patriotism and common sense agenda and you have an exceptionally strong president.

Not the best actor, but he was a good speaker.
Funny thing is in my opinion the other greatest president is Donald Trump who was also an entertainer as well as a businessman. Crazy!

I found this speech illuminating. I was struck by how true his words were then and how they still hold true today. An intelligent man who spoke from the heart and stood behind his words despite what other people placed in his path to stop him. Thank you for sharing this speach.
Reagan also banned high power assault weapons. he also signed laws for abortion. he also was found recorded calling Africans monkeys. Reagan destroyed the middle class the Reaganomics. he created the Taliban in al-Qaeda. he put drugs in the inner city which created The gangs was created crack kids was created lawlessness in the inner cities. so Reagan is the devil.

And this speech is so much more important today for our HOMELAND then ever before.

FUN FACT: Peter Robinson, host of Uncommon Knowledge, was a speech writer for Reagan in the 80s.
He said Reagan read ALL of the drafts and frequently sent them back for corrections.
Because he was so good, the speech writers really had to step up.
