It's 6/13/2022 so pumped ! Picked up a HK p30l lem . Took it to the range a hour after purchase and love it !. It's not heavy but it feels like it's built like a tank. I really appreciate build quality and great fit and finish. The trigger does feel like a striker fired gun just with a long pull. Reset is good in my opinion. I feel blessed to have a weapon like this...
I drove a couple of hours one way to pick this particular model up. When I pick it up and compare it to other pistols I own I can tell H&K put some engineering and thought into it. Some people don't like hammer fired pistols. I don't mind either way. This is one of my favorites in my collection. You found a gem there as I find mostly V3 models in the wild. Thanks for watching and enjoy the P30L.
I see by the amount of subs you have you are new to YT..Great job with the review. Keep it up.There are many gun tubers who are not half as well spoken and present good info as you do..Peace.
I carry P30L V1 everyday in a JM Custom Kydex. You will never wear an HK barrel out. Cannon grade cold hammer forged Polygonal barrel. HK’s aren’t built to a price point, they’re built for a purpose. No Compromise.
Do you carry this? How is it after a year since this video was made? I too love the P30. I have two P30’s, two P30L’s and a P30sk. One of them is a bone stock V1, the rest are custom by Lazy Wolf, Gray Guns and Langdon Tactical. I carry the stock one for legal reasons and warranty reasons. LEM takes a bit of getting used to for sure. I carried Glocks for my entire police career, so I have probably put more rounds through Glocks. Now that I’m retired, I shoot and carry my HK’s primarily.
Man nice piece,I have the DA/SA and just installed the Trijicon tritium heavy orange and U small two dot and wow what a difference. My first and last HK it does have some heft to it full mag and yes I use it for EDC. Great video and new subscriber, have a fantastic day
I would still pick up a V3 version of the P30L if I saw one for $800 or less. Definitely a worthwhile pick up. I hope you enjoy it. I appreciate the support brother.
Thanks for the review. Being left handed the paddle release is just as awesome as the trigger. This is the favorite pistol I own and had to get the compensator for the John Wick look. Makes me at least 5% faster in my mind lol. I only wish it came with an optics cut like you said but I’m looking at one of those dovetail optics for the 1911s because they have been out long enough to be worth a try.
I was hoping H&K would release an optics ready slide like the VP9 got. Unfortunately, H&K does what they want and doesn't really listen to customer demand. Maybe in 20 years. I'm a big advocate for ambidextrous firearms. Not just for lefty's but for those who want to train weak side or practice unconventional drills. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I have the 30SK DA/SA and just purchased the 30 LEM. Love both. I am a lefty and my thumb was keeping the slide open on the last round occasionally- I did remove the right slide release, problem solved
I've got the sk v1, and love the LEM trigger for carry. I will be getting a full size eventually, just need to decide if I'm gonna Lazy Wolf tune both full and sk, it just the full 👍
I keep hearing about the Lazy Wolf triggers. I know H&K parts.net has trigger shoes but honestly, I helped a friend install one and we had springs flying everywhere. It's not easy. Probably worth having someone do it as H&K pistols are a little more intricate than most.
You can mount a red dot but you have to send it to have the slide milled and not many people do it. Because of the slide itself it also is pretty expensive. Wright armory can do it though. I just ordered a P30L and I’m planning on having that done at some point but I’m also going to do the gray guns LEM upgrade just to see how good it is because people rave about it. If I end up not liking it it will still be a nice piece for the collection.
Interesting. I was told by some boomer that the slide wasn't able to cut (including the Vp9) then H&K releases the optic ready VP9L. Those slides are $700 complete if you can find them but also come with the recoil spring and barrel. I would actually be interested in that service. I'm gonna check it out. Thanks for the info.
Any issues with it? I am looking at buying one from Langdon and having them do their magic dust on it so I can mount a red dot. Also the trigger kit and flat faced trigger from Gray Guns is great.
None. I've been eyeing that Langdon treatment for this as well. No reliability issues but probably just like you, having a better reset and ability to mount a red dot would be great features. If you have the money, I'd do it. If I have any complaints it's that changing parts is definitely not as easy as other pistol weapon systems. I helped someone change a trigger shoe in there P30L and it was not easy. We had springs flying around, a lot of cussing, it took us 2 hours to change a trigger shoe he bought off of H&K parts. It's definitely something to leave to the professionals.
Do you need to rack the slide for the first DA shot? After shooting a few shot and putting in the holster, the next shot will be DA automatically, right?
You don't have to rack the slide to pull the trigger in double action. It is a much heavier trigger pull however like a standard SA/DA or DA only pistol. Once the slide cycles, it still acts like a DA trigger pull as the hammer isn't cocked. It's more of a half or pre cocked mechanism that substantially reduces the trigger pull weight that still need the hammer to move the entire action like a DA. It's definitely a unique feeling and looking action for a pistol. So both trigger pulls are DA but the action of cycling lessens the trigger pull weight but will still need a full movement of a trigger pull and full movement of the hammer to fire. They do make a standard SA/DA version of this V3 which has a de-cocker and a non bobbed hammer that can be pulled back and cocked like a standard SA/DA. Yes, once fired and holstered the next shots will be DA but with a lessened trigger pull weight. You can actually put your thumb on the bobbed hammer when holstering to ensure there's no ND or AD as the hammer is down. I hope that made sense.
Just bought a V1 for 650 new.. I was surprised to see it in my local store..Have seen a few P30 V3 `s over the last couple years but rarely see this one..
You're the second person who's mentioned that Gray Ghosts/Guns trigger reset in the comments. I think there's something to that upgrade. I'm seeing a trigger job in my future as well.
Waiting on my W2 so I can get my return and hopefully... Hopefully, God willing I will be able to purchase an HK pistol (or a Kriss Vector, I've wanted one for years). But I want that HK quality for edc
I found my local state gun trader website and even pawn shops have had some for reasonable prices even recently. I drove 2 hours one way just to get mine at a pawn shop that had one and they said they had it for years but finally posted it on Florida Gun Trader and it sold (to me) within a few days of posting. Just be patient and if you really want something, don't settle, just wait and one will come along for a reasonable price.
@@2amichaelj it is done right. I have one. That said, it comes with the LTT trigger job which is better than the stock LEM but not great. I sent mine to Lazy Wolf and now it’s fantastic. I wouldn’t carry any of my HK’s that have trigger jobs due to liability, so I carry a stock p30. But the other 5 I have in the P30L, P30 and P30sk all have modifications.
I have to say I have a love/ hate relationship for the lem trigger system 🤣🤷🏻♂️ I have 4 hk handguns an 2 have lem triggers The hk45 an the p30L which is weird because I have the p30sk with double single action an can't really say the trigger seems that bad as they say well to me of course Then the vp9 which is striker fired an my daily carry 🤷🏻♂️🤔
Ever tried the gray guns trigger upgrade? I heard that makes this a much more pleasant experience. Training makes some difference and yeah I kinda hated the trigger at first then learned to appreciate what H&K does over time. I also own 4 H&Ks with the p30sk V3 but really see the quality put into them.
....Dude, get the Gray Guns reduced reset kit for this pistol... Makes a huge improvement on the reset.. it’s the best upgrade you can do for improvement on the reset... it reduces reset by like 50%... it only cost like 90bucks, and is easy to install... takes 10min to do max, and you don’t need to be a gunsmith to install it... plenty of YT videos showing how to install it...
@@2amichaelj Yes it will👍... You will have a choice to choose from when ordering it from their website... one is for the SA/da and LEM no safety, and one for with safety... I would highly recommend this to everyone who owns a P30... it makes the P30 just about perfect... if you love it now, just wait until after you install that kit.. everyone I know who has installed one is more than satisfied with the results 👍👍....
I bought this trigger reset kit from Gray Guns, and I don't do ANY gunsmith work myself except changing out hand grip stuff. I took it to a local gunsmith who then had my P30L for approximately 6-7 weeks, only to then tell me I needed another type of hammer to make this short reset trigger kit work. The part that he needed was on constant back-order. I ended up taking the gun back, he had installed the kit, but it now only fires in DA only, no more SA. You have to rack the slide to fire after every trigger pull. I'm basically slamming the Gun Smith, because all I hear out here in YT Land is it's s simple install, and I see nothing in Forums, or on Gray Guns site saying you have to change out the hammer for the P30L V1 LEM when installing this short reset kit. I have since taken it to another local smith and am awaiting a response to see if he can fix it or not. If not, then I guess it goes to Gray Guns Smith.
Hk handguns are the "Cadillac" of handguns. I have a the USP45 LEM, and it's a pleasure to shoot. In th process of buying this one.
Picked up a P30L in Lem absolutely a work of art! Handles my +p 147 and +p+ flawlessly and laser accurate

Thanks so much for your input. HK p30l lem is a special gun for me, it's unique.
I have an H&K LEM P30 SK, and it's a phenomenal pistol. I definitely would like to add the P30L in LEM.
I'm not into Red Dots/ RMRs on Pistols but, if you like it, go for it! I do, really like the durability and style of the P30 and P30L. Great video!

Look at John Correia’s P30 (ASP)… he has a recommendation for mounting a red dot…
