Making A HUGE Pork Tenderloin Sandwich From Scratch | Cooking The States (Indiana)

- The Indiana-style pork tenderloin sandwich is legendary in the state. Originally brought over and popularized by a German immigrant named Nick Frienstein of Nick’s Kitchen the restaurant in Huntington, Indiana started the trend sometime in the early 1900s. Sure, maybe this flat cutlet is reminiscent of schnitzel, but schnitzel is often made with veal and (usually) are a lot thinner. Regardless, the two are cousins... no, actually, more like fraternal twins. Let’s cook. 🤘🏻Adam

I was born and raised in Indiana, he really did that sandwich justice. Very nice.
grew up in huntington and used to eat at nicks with my dad for lunch all the time lmao
Dude from Indiana here. You nailed it.
Wooooooo. Stoked on that. Thanks for watching.
I seriously look forward to your videos every week Adam! Your humor is unmatched & I love the extra cutaway add ins you use for that lil razzle dazzle lmaoooo Had me cackling at the Odin/Thor comment 🤣
I can’t wait to see what you’ve got cookin’ for Louisiana!!
Just seeing this. Thank you!
Us Hoosiers need 3 things on a Texas Tenderloin: French's Yellow Mustard, Pickle, Onion.
You did a great job representing us.
Now, if you truly want our German heritage, come to SW Indiana and get a, yes, a Brain Sandwich.
First time long time… I must say that intro with the eagle, it gets me right in the feels every time. (I love it!!) Top notch work on the sando as well!
Indiana here we make a slurry of eggs, flour and buttermilk overnight and dip in crushed saltines then fry! Easy!
Good job. Enjoyed the video. When I was growing up, my parents & I would go to a local drive in for a tenderloin. Yes, one sandwich. Mom brought bread from home & the tenderloin was so huge we all had tenderloin sandwiches.
Thanks for the entertaining & informative video.
Bro, I need that sandwich. Looks fuckin' great.
I always love watching old episodes of this TV show.
So, it's chicken fried pork. No wonder it tastes like McChicken. 100% would eat.
From Indiana, moved away haven't eaten one in about 20 years currently looking up meet hammers and deep fryers.
Music is a bit too loud. bring it down a notch or 2
I grew up going to The Port in Chesterton after going to the Dunes... Amazing homemade root beer... kewl video dude
Very attractive and easy recipe. Anyone can make by himself/herself. Thanks for making this. Stay connected. 😍👍😋💚
I have never seen a pork loin that large in my life😂😂😂😂😂
Gorgeous plate sized pork my friend
Looks Very good! I wanna one.

Great channel I just stumbled on

Looks amazing man!
Thanks dude!
Absolutely love that Yankee Doodle remix. Headed on my house speakers it was kind of slappin on my baby subs!
top shelf 10/10!
Sandwich as tough as that eagle! SHEEEEsh
LOL
Amazing
Everything I see you cook looks so amazing...
Any idea what you will do once you get to New York?
It rhymes with tweeza
@@AdamWitt Ooh, so many ideas... thanks, Adam.
Nicely done. People tend to get all crazy for those paper thin tenderloins that are 2 or 3 times bigger than the bun. I'd rather mine be about ½ inch thick and closer to bun size. That mega big one I'd love to try!
Young Wesley Snipes? I'm more about one-armed Donal Logue. Great work as always!
It was so goooood.
Switch to butcher paper for pounding the cutlet. Check out the new info on micro plastics.
Not all chicken sandwiches are equal, neither are pork tenderloin sandwiches. Some are amazing 😍 some ok
Woooooa what’s up with them bread crumbs boy. Go get a sleeve of saltine crackers and mash it up.
You said big sandwich and my brain went to dogwood. Which i thought came from Indiana, but i guess not. I guess it's popular everywhere.
Thanks Adam. Hoosier by birth Boilermaker by the grace of God
are you using one of those rubber cutting boards?
Im loving your videos. But where did you go? You're lucky to have space to work in your kitchen. Your Kaiser rolls looked absolutely delicious 😋 Every kitchen ive had (except for one) has been so small that I've had to step outside to change my mind.
Just a note, the music audio is too loud when you're talking. It competes with you and makes it difficult to hear you.
Hey dude. Thank you and for the feedback. I'm still making videos. I paused the CTS series because my other videos do better, but I might revisit it in the future.
@@AdamWitt what/where are your "other videos?"
Nice. Here in Australia, the chicken schnitzel is most popular. I’m visiting the USA next march and planning on driving route 66. I’m hoping to try (amongst many other things) the chicken fried steak in Texas and some kind of pork schnitzel type sandwich in the upper Midwest.
I’ve seen videos of the place that claims to do the original Maxwell Street Polish. They also seem to sell a bone in pork chop sandwich. Is this mostly the same or a completely different cut?
It's different. I'm from Indiana and I also lived in Chicago for 20 years. That Maxwell St pork sandwich is more fried/grilled instead of breaded. But if you're going to be in Chicago, I would love to suggest you go to Ricobene's on 26th Street, not far from downtown. The breaded steak sandwich is similar to this but is breaded veal steak and covered with red sauce and cheese.
@@grewdan58 Thank you
a beautiful work of art

I'm from Illinois we usually eat it with ketchup mustard pickle & raw onion. Until you have one you don't know. Does NOT taste like a Mc Chicken 😂
Handy Foods deli Ottawa,Illinois is the best.Polansics too thin they use to be good but NO
Why do they call it a pork tenderloin sandwich in the Midwest if they are using the loin, not the tenderloin? I don't get it.
Ok, I think you’re entirely missing the point of all Hoosiers. The point is to not overcomplicate it. Cuz that’s what we do. Just cut some piggy, hammer it flat, then very simply bread it in cracker crumbs, and fry that $hit and put it on whatever bun is around. Done. #hoosiersimplicityandperfection
Man I was so into watching this. Hit like and everything. And then the music started and totally drowned out your words! It sounds like "advertisement playing in another tab" music. Just let us listen to you! We're hear, we're interested.
