I usually have a Morgan dollar in my pocket...nothing too fancy, just a common date, lightly circulated coin worth perhaps 25 bucks, tops. I like to hold it and know there was a time when money was real and valuable; my grandfather once described the big old large cents as feeling "proud" and I found myself struck by the truth of the word. My silver dollar reminds me that people once appreciated real wealth in a time when life was simpler and less distracted. Maybe someone carried it to buy food at a local market or to tip a coachman. Maybe it purchased a train ticket for someone to visit a friend. It's history, it's art, and it's a piece of honest money.

I assume his dad carried a constitutional coin of some kind as a tradition; I don't think it sounds strange because I've started doing it myself a few years ago, because I like having God's money on me. It's nice having something that is real in your possession and it can become a good way to introduce uninformed folks to constitutional money and the difference between FRNs and real money. I like your idea better than the one ounce suggestion. Half dollars aren’t used much in circulation, so it isn’t very likely to be *accidentally* spent - like a junk quarter or dime might be. Yet it is also more recognizable to non-collectors as a genuine US coin and can get you into a conversation about clad verses real silver coins.
You could also more easily explain how you got it. (I’d use a Franklin half, I think, because it’s different from the clad Kennedys but not *too* old like the Walking Libertys.) Anyway, then you could say you “accidentally” stumbled upon it in a till where you once worked years ago or in a bank roll of halves. So you bought it out of that at face value as your “lucky coin!” (To me, carrying around a one ounce Silver Eagle screams “I’m a *stacker* and I *definitely* have much more then just this!”) That’s because you aren’t going to accidentally stumble on a Silver Eagle. You purposefully had to buy it. Whereas, a junk half is still a fanciful story, but it’s at least *possible* - if not fully plausible. You were just “lucky.”

And the road goes on forever,
And I've got one more silver dollar,
But I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no
Not gonna let 'em catch the Midnight Rider.
And I've gone by the point of caring,

And I've got one more silver dollar

I carry a silver coin with me for the ferry man, Chiron. If I die and some greedy stranger takes it from me. They will be cursed with delivering me to the after life. EMS can keep it, it’s their job to deliver the injured, dead, or dying. I consider them to be the modern day boatman anyways.

Started collecting coins for sentimental reasons and that got me loving how bullion coins look.
I bought a very dirty/tarnished 1993 (my birth year) ASE to keep it in my wallet to fiddle with.
I experimented and cleaned it up. Looks new except for the buff and scratches I made. Purposely damaging it makes it easier for me to casually carry it and show it around.
It serves to remind me of wealth building and how we grow and change over time.
I also splurged on a 1993-proof ASE to add to my US 1993 mint coin-proof set. It's the contrast between something frozen in time vs living in the moment.

It's honestly not a bad idea to carry either a silver or fractional gold round on you. If you ever get into a tight pinch (I mean a very tight pinch) having 1/2 ounce of gold or an ounce or 2 of silver can help you get some quick funds from a pawn shop. For instance your car breaks down in town and you don't have any money to get it towed home, walk to the nearest pawn shop, sell the coin, and boom, instant funds. It's real wealth. It's a hedge against inflation, and honestly, it feels good to have a precious metal which has been trusted MONEY for hundreds of years. Paper currency and modern coins are simply that. Currency. A promise. Losing value day by day as infinite amounts can be printed. You can't print more silver and gold.

At work I actually found someone who is a stacker. He does not buy as much as me but I think that was kind of cool. Then I found another guy at work who said silver and gold is a good investment and he said the family has a sack of 90% that was left in the family. This I found out in just one conversation. You never know who is stacking or who has what. But if my co-workers really knew what I really had I think it would turn out bad.

When i was young , an old man that lived down the street ( Mr. Price ),Gave me a completely worn Morgan dollar. At least i believe that's what it was , hard to tell.
anyway, he carried that dollar, in his pocket, for 40 plus years. He Met Henry Ford with that dollar in his pocket, among other, less notable experiences. He gave it to me, only a few days before he died, when i was very young. I returned the coin to his son,( Mr price as well, lol) in the form of a metal sculpture --many years later. it is now hanging on the wall in the cabin that original Mr price built, by hand,,,,, with- you guessed it, he built it with that coin, in his pocket. I love to stack because of this experience.
However, i do not carry a silver dollar in my pocket as of now, i think i will. Because of this video,, and i like it!

Why i love silver coins in my hands or in my pocket ?
Because of SOUND, shine and feelings what it’s worth something ( not like my country currency made of wooden junk ) !
At age 28 I can hear frequencies up to 19.5 kHz and a lot of people don’t understand me what I’m talking about...
Recently I bought Morgan dollar 1921 and this sound is the most exiting what I hearing !
But to be honest, for me it’s a bit ridiculous to wear something what is almost 100 years old...
Aaand i had replaced it with Eisenhower dollar (1971 S), not too big and sounds great.
I’m really happy what I’m not alone wearing and flipping coin when everyone shaking pens and other fidget stuff in their hands.
