Dude , such an awesome video. I never had a Sega CD nor have I ever experienced playing one, but if I ever had the urge too, this video pushed me even closer to do so. Gotta love Earthworm Jim as an all time classic. I grew up playing it on the Super Nintendo, but furthermore all these era of games had peak soundtracks. Another awesome production from you my friend!

Silpheed, Snatcher, Dark Wizard and Shining force CD are some of my favorites from Sega CD. Demolition Man for it was... Surprisingly fun too. Nice picks man!
I got a Sega CD in 2014 at the Kane County flea market, I think it was like 60 bucks at the time, came with the box ( the box was in pretty terrible shape though, the pack in game was Tomcat Alley ). I sold mine a number of years ago just because I really wasn’t playing it. I always thought I’d get some kind of flash cart to play them on my Genesis, but I never did. The Batman game looks cool, I love that you talk about the Batman games so much on your channel . Can’t go wrong with final fight. Dog the bounty Hunter in macho man 😆. Yeah sonic CD is cool for what it is , but that’s one of those games I feel like I have so many modern ways to play it. Really great list Rob! Excellent video!
Great vid! just a couple of comments here. the FMV inside most SegaCD games were so grainy, they'd give me a headache (I'm looking at you Sewer Shark), and what was Disney thinking making a Mickey game for kids that's too hard for most adults? I tried so hard to beat Mickey Mania but I don't think I ever got past level 4. It's probably harder than Lion King. lol some classics like Popful Mail and Lunar. Nice little blast from the past. Thanks Rob

As a kid, I definitely did not understand that the Sega CD was an add-on and not a separate system. Not sure it would have made a difference due to the price tag, but I’ve watched a few videos that talk about how it wasn’t exactly marketed clearly. Anyway, one of the things I noticed in this video (and that you mentioned) was extra frames of animation in some games. I also notice smoother, more consistent frame rates overall compared to some I played on Genesis. Earthworm Jim is a great example, where this game controls feel a bit off to me on the Genesis I could never quite grasp why until now. There are a lot of games in today’s showcase that look surprisingly smoother. This Mickey Mouse game made reliving different eras so interesting. Disney partnered with some amazing developers who always seemed to execute the vision. Soul Star looks like one step away from StarFox greatness and I would have loved it. Once again, looks so smooth to control. I lean a little more toward Streets of Rage myself because I think the mechanics are slightly more robust, but Final Fight always looked better to me and had more iconic bad guys with those huge sprites. Could we get a mash-up someday? Batman and Terminator also each look fun, and so artistically distinct. I need to find the Lords of Thunder OST on RUclips ASAP! Great picks Rob. Thanks for the look into this library!
@@jasonkelly8419 amazing points my friend! Yeah Sega’s demise was always marketing sadly, amongst other things lol! I’m glad you liked this one Jason, thank you as always for watching and the support!!! ❤️🎮
Some stunning games you picked out i must say. I was hoping for Star wars Rebel Assault but it's not everyone's cup of tea. I sold my Mega Drive and Mega CD model 1 about 10 years ago which i regret too this day. Batman returns was a favourite of mine but god it was brutal, still i can play Rebel Assault on my 3DO which i enjoy...lol. Nice video.
Thanks my friend! And I do have a love Rebel Assault, I too had it on the 3DO and would also buy the early PlayStation ones also! And yep, it’s getting hard to find the systems and games cheap anymore sadly. Thank you for watching as always my friend, glad you liked this one!
Keanu/Rob you cut your hair we all loved the Sega CD we didn’t know how good had it back then I’ve been blessed to see and have all from 1980-Now every console and tons of games what a life of gaming throughout the decades
I did lol, I thought it would scale back the Keanu comments….but nope 🤷🏼♂️😂 And impressive my friend, love to hear that! Get thanks for watching and being here, means alot to me!
Right?!? So good my friend! My friend Jay from Square Pegs has a good master system vid on his channel if interested 🤷🏼♂️ And thank you for watching my nonsense 😉
I started late with sega cd. I never had it as a kid but recently got into it around 2019. I bought a refurbished and region free bios modded sega cd off ebay and started collecting the Japanese side of games as well as the us franchises. Final fight cd was probably the best port of the arcade game but with better music and superior to the snes version. Terminator on the sega cd is awesome with a good soundtrack and gameplay. I never played lord's of thunder on the sega cd but i do own it on the pc engine. Earthworm jim is great on the sega cd but expensive nowadays. I had to get a reproduction of it. Soul star is great but expensive which i also own a reproduction of. I have mickey mania on the sega cd and the European exclusive version on the ps1. Both versions are pretty much the same thing. The music is great and so is the gameplay. Hook is a good game on sega cd. I never played the snes or genesis version of the game but i like the soundtrack and gameplay. The adventures of batman and Robin is a good one too. I never had samurai showdown on the sega cd but own it on 3 other systems. I have the original arcade mvs cartridge, the snes version and the 3do version. Its a shame that they eliminated earthquake fron the sega cd version
I knew final fight was going to be in there. It's definitely the best home version. Don't feel bad you aren't the only one that wasn't a fan of Sonic. I remember when I got the first one cuz everybody was making a big stink about it. I remember spending $40 on it and saying to myself ,wow what was all the hype for .I really didn't like it. I had the PC engine with the CD so I never got the Sega CD. My friend had it so I was able to play at his house. As much as I love Sega, never owned a Nintendo system, the Sega CD seemed to have more stinkers and mediocre games then good games.Nowhere near as bad as the 32x but they could have done so much more with it. Just one of those systems that most programmers didn't know how to get the most out of its capabilities. 😕
Yeah this version of final fight looks awesome !! Way better than the super Nintendo version (but I still rented that a few times cause it's still great)
There's MUCH goodness to be had in the Sega CD library. Sonic CD, Final Fight CD, and Spider-Man Vs the Kingpin, is my personal trilogy of Sega CD Goodness. I prefer the Model 1 Genesis with Sega CD model 2 also.
Oh there definitely is, probably a part 2 in the future I’m sure! I really enjoy the Spider-man game! And that’s great, I honestly just like anything Sega lol! Hey I appreciate you watching my friend, it’s appreciated!!!
I owned everything sega and when they gave up yea i went to xbox. I had the genesis model 1 with the Sega cd model 2 and 32x. Looking forward to replacing my model 2 sega cd since i did sell it on ebay in the early 2000s. Yes i regret that. Sold my dreamcast collection also. I regret selling any of it. I still own my sega genesis 32x and saturn. Just wish i keeped the saturn games i did have. Why is everything sega so expensive.
Bank Left, Your Off Course!! 😎 MegaCD has some of the best video game music ever, Final Fight, Batman Returns, Wolf Child, Jaguar XJ 220, Thunder Hawk, Silpheed and many more. Proper game music!!! I'd swap Fifa with Sensible Soccer L⚽L. No EA Hockey 94 on the list? My holy grail is Dungeon Master 2, sure it's slow and could of been better, just I love the original game on Amiga. Great video Rob and it was nice to hear some tunes as well. 👍
Solid list and yes, solid music! Man I love sensible soccer also, those guys also made cannon fodder which is a huge favorite of mine! I love NHL 94! I couldn’t get it to work though 😔 Dungeon Master 2….oooh! I’m an Amiga fan myself, I should make another Amiga vid in the future! Thank you for the kind words, and watching!!! ❤️🎮
@@retrobelieverbtw I almost forgot Prince of Persia! It might be common, not necessarily the best looking version but it plays super slick and that intro, and again ace CD music! Another Win. 😉
Hi Rob! New watcher here. Really enjoyed your commentary, felt very much like sitting down with a friend and chatting about gaming. I also had a model 2 in the 90s which I did buy just for Sonic CD, everything else was a bonus. I have a model 1 now. I don't think the Sega CD's reputation and derision from modern gamers is entirely warranted, it was a cool sprite manipulator for its day and had some extraordinary titles when its capabilities were utilized properly. The FMV games make up about a quarter of the total library so I'd invite anyone to explore the Sega CD catalog further and not write it off like it's the CD-I or its ilk.
Well hello, and welcome! Yeah I keep it pretty relaxed on here lol. And I totally agree with you, it’ll always be in my top 5 of consoles 🤷🏼♂️ Thank you so much for watching and being here, it’s seriously appreciated!!! ❤️🎮

I’ve contemplated getting one back, I just love the way the model 2 looked! I’ll always have a love for this setup with the model 2 Genesis! I hope you do get one back my friend, one day! 😉 And thank you for watching and being here!

I have seen hook on the shelf since it was new and never saw it in action. Me thinks it may be good for me and the family. I will have a peek-a-boo! Definitely a few in here I like!
I think what hurt the Sega cd the most was the price. My dad worked for AT@T and while the AT@T store did not have much in terms of video game they did have SNES, Sega Genesis and Sega CD and they were all half price cause my dad worked for them. My dad got me the second version which I believe was $229 for $115. My library includes NHL 94, NBA Jam, Sonic CD, Final Fight CD, Fatal Fury Special, Snatcher and the pack in game Sewer Shark. The games he got for like $20 a piece.
Yeah the original price was a killer! I was only to get one when they were on sale for $99 and even that felt like a lot lol! Some great titles you listed my friend, and thank you so much for watching and sharing that story! Sounds like a great dad!
@@retrobeliever I thought it was a pretty good deal at $115. It was a pretty good sounding cd player and my first cd player as well as game console and I remember cd players by themselves were going for around $60. I also think I lucked out on the games I chose. I also got Tom cat alley. I forgot about that one. And yeah my dad is awesome.
Hook and Mickey Mouse are a couple on there that I haven't played. I agree with you on Sonic. I've never been a big Sonic fan either. You literally had me lol when you said "Hamburger Helper glove" Great video!!
Absolutely. Been looking forward to this one since you mentioned it last week. Curious to see these terrible games in the next one as well. I'd say the worst game I've ever played is Power Serve 3D Tennis for the original Playstation.
😀 A few others, also original Playstation, Criticom and Rise 2 : Resurrection. You see a lot of people out there say E.T. and Pac-Man on the 2600, but at least those two are playable.
I loved Final Fight, when I had the chance to play it. My cousins had it on their SNES. I thought that Genesis/Sega had Streets of Rage. I didn't know it was cross platform. I never knew anyone with a Sega CD. So these were all new to me... Except final fight. 😁
Oh wow! Yeah hopefully I lucked out some good ones here lol, I don’t always have the best taste 🤷🏼♂️ And thanks for watching Jared, always appreciate you my friend!

Yeah the systems I think like everything right now is pretty expensive, but you could go the emulation route also 🤷🏼♂️ I’m hoping Sega will release another mini but with more Sega CD titles on it, the last one had some decent tiles on it!
We like to hang out in couches to! Hehe I remember seeing the sega CD and thinking sega was going to last becuase they always tried to pioneer but we all know what happened. Btw you sit perfectly on that couch to fit with the background hehe some great games here from action, platformers and shootem ups. Man I dont think I need more consoles to collect for. Quick, someone call a medic this dude is cut!! 💪😎 I would really like a Model 1 Sega CD, a non-functional unit just so I came have the tower of power. I have a 32x but have not used it yet. I mainly bought it so I could play Virtua Racing Deluxe. isn’t Mickey Mania brutally hard? You saved the best for last. Oh wait, where’s Cadillacs and Dinosaurs: The Second Cataclysm?! 😂🦖
Yep, someone else said that also….people love that tower! Mickey Mania is like any platform game, memory is key 😉 I do like that Cadillacs and Dino game but nothing compares to the arcade 🤷🏼♂️

Hopefully you can collect more, I mean if you wanted too 🤷🏼♂️ Yeah Mickey is tough, like what most of us grew up with tough lol! I hoped you liked this one and thank you for watching as always my friend, I appreciate you!
Think final fight is also on the sega genesis mini 2. Sonic cd made me disappointed. You free flowers instead of animal! What’s that about? Is Sonic somekind of environmentalist? Then I can be AC no more. That Mickey game looks amazing. Unfortunately. Don’t wanna support the D. But I do like their older stuff. Then again I mostly prefer older stuff anyhow. Maybe with a exception for food. Mostly it taste better when it’s fresh instead of rotten and moldy… mostly
I think it is too, I don’t remember now 🤔 Yeah I totally get the Disney stuff but agreed that the older stuff is bueno but also a solid point with the food but budget wise I gotta rock leftovers sometimes 🤷🏼♂️

Thanks my friend! And I do have a love Rebel Assault, I too had it on the 3DO and would also buy the early PlayStation ones also! And yep, it’s getting hard to find the systems and games cheap anymore sadly. Thank you for watching as always my friend, glad you liked this one!

Amazing my friend, always look forward to your comments!!! And I appreciate you watching and the support as always!!!
Yeah, I have to agree with you there my friend! Well I hope you liked the video, thank you for watching as always!!!
@@retrobeliever of coarse. Had some good ones in there. what I loved most about the CD. The amazing music that a lot of them had.
@@JRod-zr8qk agreed! It’s so crisp!!!
Yeah this version of final fight looks awesome !! Way better than the super Nintendo version (but I still rented that a few times cause it's still great)

Great list! I always wanted that Final Fight game because of the CD quality music.
Thanks my friend! And yes indeed, quite good! Thank you for watching too, it’s appreciated!

MegaCD has some of the best video game music ever, Final Fight, Batman Returns, Wolf Child, Jaguar XJ 220, Thunder Hawk, Silpheed and many more.
I couldn’t get it to work though 😔

@@retrobelieverbtw I almost forgot Prince of Persia! It might be common, not necessarily the best looking version but it plays super slick and that intro, and again ace CD music! Another Win. 😉

Mortal Kombat Sega CD was a huge improvement over the cartridge.
Just some long loading times but otherwise, yes sir!
And I totally agree with you, it’ll always be in my top 5 of consoles 🤷🏼♂️

The Terminator looks really cool! I’ve never seen it before!
Oh man, yeah it’s amazing! Hey thanks for watching Nick!
