  • Turning off the Active Handling in the C6 corvette is not as simple as pushing a button. It is more defeating active handling than turning it off.
    In this video I show you how to do it and why I did it.
    Do so at your own risk!!!

    Hi Bags,
    I have c6 with super charger and automatic transmission. HPDE driving I constantly get service active handling and traction control. Before session I push the traction control off and track driving mode.
    When driving computer limits rpm to 4500 or less. It’s super frustrating to have 1/4 of car to work with.
    Rear diff has been changed from 2:56 to 3:42. Service guy reprogrammed speed ratio to allow for speed miss match but I keep getting modulation to prevent power. Would the control of removing active handling wire help with this issue or do I have other problems?

    • @maintainersgarage

      Is RPM/Power limited ONLY during track sessions? And my guess is ABS module, but woiuld need to trouble shoot it. You can disconnect plug and see if that helps

      Adam, in my 05, that doesn't turn off Active Handling. It turns off Traction Control. I tried that 1st and it allows the car to slide some, but AH comes back on and tries to stop the car from sliding. But, your car may be different

      It's my understanding that you hold down the button and turn AH off, it can still activate if certain spin/slide/drift conditions are met. I know it happens in my 05 and I have read about it in most years of the C6 including a 2010 GS.

    I’m an old guy who had a number of quite potent “Muscle Cars “ when I was young. My first ‘Vette was a ‘70 ls6 warmed over.
    No electronic gadgets, hell it didn’t even have power steering and at roughly 500 horses I knew how to drive that sucker in any situation other than snow.
    Let me tell you, what a ride that thing was ! Don’t get me wrong, I love my current C6 convertible /stick but I don’t care for all the electronic nonsense, just shit to go wrong, but we have no choice, don’t we ?

    I have the " Service Active Handling System" on all the time. I can't find anywhere how to service the system. Is there such a thing as servicing the system?

    • @maintainersgarage
      @maintainersgarage  4 года назад +3

      If you have a C6 corvette, the active handling system is a group of sensors and computers working together. "Servicing" is finding out which component is bad and fixing the problem. The ABS system, wheel speed sensors, steering sensor, G sensor, Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPMS) and Electronic Body Control Module (ECBM) are apart of this system. If that is the only message you are getting, I would think that the problem is one of the following; ECBM, Steering sensor, G sensor, or wiring due to the lack of ABS warning and TPMS warning. You could take your car to a shop or try and diagnose yourself.

      @@maintainersgarage It's been interesting having Corvettes, especially newer ones. I'm an old school car guy from the 60s when things were a little more simple. I had Mustangs and a nice Fairlane 500. They ran well and fast for the day and had few issues compared to the new cars of today. I realize that every new invention has a purpose and will make vehicle operation better with cleaner air and all that but when those things go bad and don't work they are frustrating. The shade tree mechanic days are over. With the help of a friend we worked on the active handling issue. I got in the car for a quick cruise and found that the brake lights were on but would go off when the E-brake was applied, weird hey. This went on for the ride so I made it a short ride, Next day I looked at the fuse panel under the floor board while friend tried the brakes, E-brake etc. I pulled and moved relays and things started working, I'll look deeper to see which relay actually caused the problem. BUT, when we took a drive the SERVICE AH system light was OFF and the ride control button would switch to competitive drive mode. The car ran well with no issues. These cars are very high maintenance but so much fun to drive. We have three Corvettes: a 1992 ZR1 (waiting to get on the track), a 2005 Stingray Conv ( nice driver), and a 2008 Z51, the car giving me trouble right now, but I love it. So, I'm getting familiar with the Corvette issues. I might get back to you with problems at a later date. Thanks for the help and videos. Long replay but had to let you know this stuff.
