Excellent craftsmanship! Must make you happy to know your work (and the medicinal carpenters craftsmanship) will still be standing 300 years or more from now! Thank you for making the English version for us. Your English is superb and your explanations are great! Looking forward to the next video installment.
Matthias, thanks for this excellent series on timber framing repairs. This has helped me a lot in a project of my own, not quite as ambitious as yours. Timber framing is nearly always explained in the context of a new structure, but rarely as repair work to an already existing building. Thanks again. Excellent video series!
Matthias, I just watched all of your house restoration videos and I love the way you respect and replicate the mediaeval techniques, your detective abilities are great too! I like how you describe in such detail the repairs you're about to make, your animated drawings are excellent! Plus you are teaching a new generation by hands-on experience - kudos!
What a great series, Mr. Burger. You deserve lots of respect for this fine job, and most of it by yourself it seems. You must have a strong sense of responsibility for this Medieval House. It is a lovely piece of history. I was intrigued by the large equipment in your shop. Thank you very much for your fine videos and sharing your hard work!
This work demands a lot of hard labour, a lot of skill & knowledge of structure in general so as not to compromise it's integrity & above all dedication, passion & love for old historical buildings. To see you underneath this huge potential disaster whilst you are hammering away makes me realise how confident you are in your knowledge & understanding of how to tackle each issues. Your drawings & explanations are those usually in the education sector; very well presented for anyone to follow what you are conveying. Ihre Arbeit ist sehr pädagogisch; Vielen Dank. Mit freundlichen Grüßen meine alten Früchte
I just watched all 5 of your timber frame repair videos! You did very fine repairs to such a great old home. I live in the Pacific Northwest of the United States of America, and we don't have home much over 100 years old. Our old homes are made with dimensional lumber ( 2"x4", 2"x6" 2"x8", 4"x6" 6"x6" and such) or brick and some log cabins.
Great Video! You did a very good job explaining what you were doing in each video. I also like how also had drawings of the entire house to show where you are working.
You are doing a wonderful job. I am sure that you will figure out how to proceed the best. I wish you luck and thank you for sharing your videos with us.
Thanks Matthias, Very nice! I really enjoy your videos. Looks like you are making great progress. Question, what was the hoist you were using to install the beam? And what did you have the hoist connected to?
Fabulous, Matthias. Perhaps you can share the challenges in the attic. I am sure there are professional carpenters following your channel who could help suggest approaches. Do you have conservation organisations in Germany with respect to old timbered buildings who could offer advice?

Thanks Matthias, Very nice! I really enjoy your videos. Looks like you are making great progress. Question, what was the hoist you were using to install the beam? And what did you have the hoist connected to?
+Gareth Dirlam That was an electric winch, hanging from an aluminum rail above the collar beams.
Alors là, chapeau.

+Brian Jones It's not difficult to get advice here. The problem is to go through all the possible solutions and choose the best one.
What is the recipe for the finish you are using on the wood?
У Вас хорошее хобби!
