Nice video! I spent some time researching both of these around a month ago and was looking for a video just like this. Ended up opting for the Starlight. Another difference worth adding to your comparison that sets the Starlight apart from the Mix is it can be used with Serato (for the benefit of other readers - a more professional DJ software), in addition to DJay. Whereas, the Mix cannot connect to Serato. The RGB lighting, and soundcard that enables the direct connection of speakers and headphones makes it better suited for a mini home setup in my situation. Hopefully, this feedback is useful to someone! It might save a bit of researching for those who are unsure which controller is better suited for them.
Hi David, You say it can be used with Serato: Do you mean that the starlight can be used with a Windows computer or Apple, and not only a smartphone ? actually can the Control mix be used with a laptop by the way (Windows or Apple) ?
@@Boris161 Hi Boris, Thanks for your questions. To answer your first question, yes the Starlight can be used with a Windows or Apple computer, and not only a smartphone. I do not have first-hand experience to answer your second question with absolute confidence. However, from what I have seen online, the DJ software that the Control Mix is compatible with, named 'djay pro', is available on both mobile devices and computers (Windows or Apple), meaning that yes the Control Mix should be compatible with a laptop. Having answered the above, I'd like to conclude by bringing attention back around to my original comment. The Starlight is compatible with two types of software; 'Serato' (arguably more professional, Windows and Mac (Apple) compatible only) and 'djay pro' (mobile device compatible (and according to online resources should be Windows and Mac compatible too)). Whereas the Control is only compatible with one software, which is 'djay pro' (as mentioned above). I hope that helps.
You dont rlly need a adaptor you can use Bluetooth headphones (i just used the bluetooth headphones without anything plugged into it) and you can use blootooth speakers
Nice review. The only drawback of the Starlight controller is the lack of a browse and load button/knob. However, is it possible to convert the function of one of the Jogwheels with the SHIFT button so that we map it to the browse function? Also SHIFT+ some free button can be used for load. Is it possible?
If you look for DJ Carlo here on RUclips - he has mapped SHIFT + VINYL to advance the track selector and then he can press SHIFT + one of the headphone buttons to assign the selected track to that deck.
i'm beginning with the starlight, because it has eq unlike the dj2go, and also you can scratch with it... i think the djcontrol mix is more for mobile use? keep on going
Brother, I'm sorry, I don't understand English. With the mix controller, can I DJ only on my cell phone? Or is the Bluetooth function an advantage? Sorry, I'm confused. I want to learn to play and I don't know which one to choose.
Heyy brother.... I'm a student from India I watch all your videos and I too want to be a dj mixer.but as a student and from a middle class family I really can't afford consoles....can you please help me by giving a mini Hercules console or a cheap console which you are not using.....please brother your small help may can change my life....
So the starlight is all wired. To your laptop, iPad or iPhone + any output speaker you want your sound projecting? Also what does having a sound card mean? Thank you
Soundcard is in the Starlight controller. You can connect headphones and main directly to it. The Mix does not have a sound card in it and thus cannot provide sounds. Look at it, there are no 1/4” or 1/8” holes like on the Starlight. Mix controls midi signals. The sound, when using the Mix, comes from the device the mix is connected to (phone, iPad, computer etc). Hope that makes sense.

@@daviddlovesmusic cristal clear understood !
Thanks a lot for the additional details
Bro, is dj control mix compatible with djuced ?😊
Does the DJ control work plugged into a laptop?
Glad I came here. I was a mouse click away from the getting the Serato branded unit.
You dont rlly need a adaptor you can use Bluetooth headphones (i just used the bluetooth headphones without anything plugged into it) and you can use blootooth speakers
You'll introduce a bit of latency through bluetooth headphones though
@@MrMargaretScratcherbingo!
THANK YOU! Your video has a better explanation than Hercules!! Thank you for the insight regarding the USBc and the Powering requirements!
Glad it was helpful let me know if you have any questions
Great video! Would love to see more videos on the djay control mix. Can’t find any videos to help beginners learn how to dj with it.
got one for little under 50 including shipping, planning to use as a device for wedding ceremonies, and my main rig for receptions
THIS IS REALLY AMAZING
I LOVE IT BROTHER 🔥
Thank you

You get latency with Bluetooth HeadFones?? Like the Bose QC45???
Yes for now all Bluetooth audio devices have latency the Bluetooth midi controller does not

The headphone situation is troublesome and I like the ability to load music on the controller….hard decision lol
You can connect to a bluetooth headset with the bluetooth one, do it everyday with my airpods
Can you pre cue with it?
really helpful, thanks
Glad to help, witch one are you going with ?
not the bluetooth one - that bluetooth lag sounds terrible! shame i like the colour scheme@@justinspiegel6841
Hey is it possible to connected both at once, one through usb C for the main control and the other via Bluetooth for stems? Thanks.
Yes! It is cool and you can map them both
Can you use serato on white one?
According to my research: no
But you can on the black (Starlight)
I believe Serato recently announced that you can now use any controller with it.

if you are only getting one I would say go with the Numark
@@justinspiegel6841 Yes, just 1. Here in Brazil it is 500 reais for one of these. Thank you very much
One of them supports android and the other doesn't, kinda matters for some.
Thanks for letting me know
That played a huge role in my buying decision.
@justinspiegel6841 also idk if you have gotten a comment, but with andriods newer versions you can have the control connected and a blutooth headset
Which one supports android?
@leroy7072 I know right... makes the statement, but doesn't clarify.
you should tell people that you cannot connect a bluethoot speaker using Starlight with iPhone. It's not so clear
this can be done you just have to adjust the audio device settings
I tried. Can you tell me the settings I should use? Thank you!
Yeah you can
