Awesome video! Came across this trying to figure out how to model my city. I hope all things are well since Covid hit. I was wondering if you could go more in depth of these tutorials. Like “how to create streets in rebut from the exported outlines file”, “how to add doors/windows to the exported buildings file”, etc. essentially taking that cafmapper file and making a realistic detailed city. I don’t see anyone making tutorials like those so you would be the first!

Thanks for the detailed video. You have a pleasant teaching voice, but I find the background music quite distracting. Nice work.

Hey there! An easy and effective video, specifically loved that you specified the key shortcuts for Revit and AutoCad.
I'm new into the architecture software (used to do it by hand) but I think either a video that sums up how you switch from one device to an other, or the types of softwares you use for each sort of job could be useful as well!
    (p.s: the intro is nice)

Thomas Gesbert Thank you so much for your feedback. Great suggestions!
I find that it’s really useful to learn the key commands, because that way if the AutoCAD User Interface changes, you don’t have to worry waste time setting things up. Keyboards will never change, so once you have the commands memorized it just improves your workflow so much.
I’ll be happy to add your suggestion to my list. Thanks for watching and definitely look forward to my future tutorials.

Hi Kade, thanks for watching. I'll be happy to create a video that covers this. Actually, I had covered this during the original recording of this tutorial but opted to edit it out in light of keeping the video under 3 minutes. I think I'll go back and edit the rest of the tutorial into another quick video like this one. Stayed tuned for it in the future!

Hi, thank you for your videos it's very helpful, but I always have the same error message when I try to validate my topography layer selection " error the surface must have at least three distinct Points" . (I just find the solution, I mess a step, I forget to explode my topography)

Great tutorials. really helpful. It would be even better if you will do it not for fast. Hard to follow up with you for beginners. Have to stop the video 2-3 times to see the same command over and over. Could be hard to follow for foreigners as well. This is only for the drawing part - when you talking it is fine. Thank you very much. Your video is very helpful and easy to follow step by step.

Hey, Jon thank you for the helpful tutorial I just had a quick question when I imported the topography into Revit my topography was paper-thin not thick like your and also there were no contour lines so it was hard to see the changes in level. How do i go about fixing that?

Hi. With the layers of your cadmapper drawing, there is one called outlines. (Basically the roads) how do you get that layer on its own into twin motion? Need roads only, will sculpt the terrain.

i cannot explode the mesh in autocad but i have no idea why. Without exploding i also get the error in Revit that i need at least 3 points to convert it into terrain :/
edit: found out that that in my case i could not use the command, or used it wrong. However if i used the button to explode in tool bar it worked.

@@Rascoh I have an urban landscape design project for my graduation project and it's include a topography with area around 1 km and more than 100 buildings in the site, I imported the topography in Revit and cad mapper but I didn't find a solution to create the buildings in easy way with Revit and attach it to the topography with specific height, like even if it's just a boxs.

Basheer Ghadri I have a separate tutorial that covers AutoCAD linking to Revit, which you can find here: ruclips.net/video/eX7rqikSOQ4/видео.html
I think that tutorial should cover the problem you have, so definitely watch it let me know if it works for you!

  • @blackghosts3886

Hey Jon, I need your help. I followed your previous video and started on this video. My problem is after I import the mesh to revit and click on the Toposurface tab, then down click Create from import to select import instance. After that pick topography on the add points from selected layers. Hit ok but nothing happens on the screen like I saw in your video. When I go to click the green check, I get this error the surface must have at least three distinct points. Could you help me get the topo please?
