      I also enjoy Colin's content, he is very clever. But saying if people don't check their subs are a liar is hurtful to those who really don't care about numbers, some make videos just for the enjoyment and not subs, and are definitely not a liar.

      Brian, please have a sleep on this and rewatch the video again on a fresh head on a new day. Your comments here directly contradict what I said in the video. I make videos because I enjoy it, not to gain subs. However, gaining subs can be a metric that people like your content and that gives you confidence to make more videos. My opinion only and we disagree here but that cool.

    I discovered your channel via the inscrutable machinations of the youtube recommendation engine pointing me at your EFHW videos. I was really impressed by the quality of the information that you presented. The rigorous approach you use is really appreciated when you characterized the variations of EFHW transformers with actual DATA and not anecdotal experience. That's actually a pretty unique thing among ham radio RUclips channels.
    I wouldn't stress over investing lot of money in production equipment; it's not the fancy editing or camera equipment that attracted me to your channel.
    Thanks for investing your time sharing this information with us.

    Hi Colin, I subbed very recently due to your participation in the online discussion on the new proposals due to come into effect next year. I am not a techie person in the least, but I do love to get out portable with my meagre 10w and work the world on my own home brew antenna's. I have recently started to wind my own QRP 49:1 which I find a brilliant little antenna for lightweight operation. Thank you for your content and take it from me, its very valuable to beginners such as myself. Have a great Christmas and I look forward to watching in 2024.

    Hi Colin, I went for the 18Ah battery that you reviewed because it was exactly what I was looking for. You have put out some excellent content and have also followed your suggestions on the cores to build 49:1's and am very happy with the results of my 40m Fair-rite EFHW.
    Your channel also got a mention by Peter Waters of Waters and Stanton this week too :)
    I really enjoy your content and look forward to your releases, very practical and well explained - I like the thinking behind some of the projects that you do and have given me some ideas for /P antennas.

    Good work, Colin! I really appreciated your thorough work on measuring those ferrite cores and I’m happy you pointed me to the infamous Fair-Rite core for 100W 😉
    Recently I became a fan of Moxons, so the videos you made on those were very interesting to me. With it being winter now, I was thinking a lot lately about making one for 20m but I haven’t figured out the construction yet as the antenna might end up being rather large and heavy and I’d like to keep it portable 😄

    • @MM0OPXFieldRadio
      @MM0OPXFieldRadio  9 месяцев назад +1

      Just glad I could add something. Moxons are brilliant. If your building one for 20m best to opt for small telescoping type flag poles. The tent poles are too floppy.

So I managed to source some of the kit from Colin which I’m very grateful for. Colin also knows I’m also a big EFHW fan for portable working. @@MM0OPXFieldRadio likewise, have a great 2024, your aerial experiments have been fascinating. For a science based hobby there are a surprising number of myths which need busting. For example the nonsense about "you can't beat a resonant antenna" the truth is often very different. For example, by making a ground mounted quarterwave slightly longer you can raise the feedpoint impedance, reducing ground losses AND get a better pattern, the matching to 50 ohms is not a challenge. Not the way forward for everyone but certainly an option. As for viewer and subscriber numbers, I have seen a variety of scenarios play out, sometimes a channel will suddenly explode as the algorithms find that the viewers stay engaged.

    • @MM0OPXFieldRadio
      @MM0OPXFieldRadio  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, matching to 50 ohms no issue for me now but I understand why some newbies don't. Grounds losses can be substantial are are largely ignored by many.

    Good morning. I just want to say thank you for all the videos and specifically the efficiency testing. its something I consider a definitive source of what's best along with others dl2man and evil layers work all converging with matching results we can now not guess and know for sure which is something that amateur radio has needed for a very long time there is far too much hocus pocus crap around antennas people claiming certain things about antennas and especially for new or even experienced but ona limited budget. its far too easy to be led up the wrong road which is a shame. I truly hope all of you who have contributed to finding out the truth understand just how important your work on this subject has been and how much a huge amount of people appreciate the hard work and the teaching giving us the tools to know how to get the truth on our own which may be even greater a boon to the community. I make a video after been asked about a subject. Too many people seem to think youtube is a extention of the lic , to the point, some folk are using live stream as their rx, and cannot actually hear the other station on their own radio. I have no intention of checking my subs etc, it may be 2 or 3 , I don't care, as long as folk get something out of it, iam happy. I also make private videos teaching morse code, I ask nothing for them, I am just happy that someone is enjoying the hobby. I think, if we all did everything for rewards it would be a sad life.
