    I'm going to say, I'm leaning towards following the team in Utah still. I respect all the fans of the Jets that still followed the Coyotes despite what happened there. I can take a page out of their book.

    The owner of the Coyotes has had several years to get this done, but he treated the Coyotes like a casino business, so this isn't surprising to see this sell. Maybe this will finally allow the Coyotes to get a new permanent home in Phoenix and they will be reborn in 5 years......
    As for the move to Utah, this is very exciting for those of us who live in the Rocky mountain region, as now we have a team other then the Avalanche, to root for. Salt Lake City is MUCH easier to travel to and navigate through then rush hour congested Denver.
    As a Cleveland Browns fan, watching my team move to Baltimore was tough, but the City of Cleveland did get their team back, so hold on to hope Coyotes fans! I truly believe your beloved Coyotes WILL BE BACK ❤

      Meh, he fixed the front office that was a total mess before he got there. This team in Utah will be competitive quick. Dealing with covid was huge. The fans want him to just build an arena with no help from tax payers and not build other facilities? What a joke. They don't deserve a team. They barely filled 75% of the place for 20 years.

    Life long Coyotes fan here. I'm actually not even from Arizona, I grew up in a small town in British Columbia and now living in Vancouver. Back when I was like 6 or 7 my older brother wanted me to get into liking hockey as well, but I wasn't sure what team to pick. My first name is actually Jeremy, and he told me there is a player named Jeremy Roenick, and he also showed me the howl sound that is played when they scored at home, and I liked that so I quickly became attached to the team. I did what I could to follow them with limited coverage at the time. I did get to see a Coyotes game at home back in February of this year, so at least there's that. Despite the loss against Minnesota that day, I still had a great time, and one highlight is Howler happened to be in my area during the game so I absolutely had to get a picture with him.
    Anyways despite being outside of Arizona I am still completely devastated by this entire situation. I don't even know what I'll be doing moving forward and right now I have almost 0% faith in AM. I'll still try to watch hockey to some extent, it just won't feel quite the same. Some say they will follow the team to Utah, but as for myself I don't know if I want to do that yet, but I guess I'll decide later on. Not being from Arizona, if a new team does come back in 5 years or however many it may be, I'm not even sure if I will cheer for Coyotes 2.0 since it will be an entirely different team.

      I feel your pain on a different level. Give Utah a chance. Ryan Smith will invest in this team and I think you will like the rebranded team. I'm in Wyoming so to have another team in the Rocky mountain region is exciting, even though I'm a Seattle Kraken fan. Most of my family is from Utah, so this is exciting. The Coyotes could still be reborn in Phoenix in 5 Years so hold tight.❤

    I can see why Alex doesn’t do media. He looks bad at it. But this process forces him to face the media, face the public. Maybe he can feel the public rage in stride and grow into the owner AZ fans deserve. He’s a great businessman for sure. There is a void that he can choose to step into. I’m not sure if anyone sees that. I don’t know if Alex sees that either. Even if he is awkward. It’s ok to be an awkward face of the organization.

    The NHL made a mistake giving Alex Meurelo another chance, especially with the Coyotes brand. He has created so much bad blood with the Phoenix area over the years, and it is apparent with how Tempe voted to keep a toxic landfill over a new arena project. We already know he isn't paying people and this has been a recurring theme for years going back to the pandemic. I wouldn't be opposed to the NHL revisiting Phoenix in the future, but they need to wait until an owner with a proven track record comes along, or maybe looking to other Phoenix owners like Mat Ishbia or Ken Kendrick to own the team. If I were the NHL, I would have also blacklisted Alex Meurelo from ever owning another NHL team and also dissolving the Coyotes brand because of how toxic it has become. Meurelo is holding the team hostage in Arizona.

    Did you catch the fact that the rights to reactivate the coyotes isn't transferable from Alex. So if he isn't successful, another ownership group would have to build an arena prior to applying for an expansion team. If your community couldn't get an arena built while having a team, how likely would it be to get one done without a guarantee of having a team.
    That group would also have no preferencial treatment in competing with other markets for an expansion team. It was a poor choice by the media to be so combative and ungrateful to the commissioner in Fridays press conference. He worked hard and stuck by that market for 27 years attempting to get an arena built. Do you think he's anxious to return?
    Its also a poor decision to vilify the current owner. The community and local / state govt is going to have to put past disagreements aside and work together to satisfy the NHL'S requirements in the next 5 years or Hockey will never be back.

    • @traci635
      @traci635 28 дней назад +1

      The NHL wants hockey in Phoenix. There is a great fan base in Arizona so I see this as the last ditch effort to save the market. Ryan Smith stepping up, as well as the Utah government and their 900 million commitment, it was a no brainer to allow the sell to Smith and give AM the money he needed to build a permanent home for a reborn Coyotes team.....this also will allow another market to expand once the Coyotes are reborn

    It makes me nervous when he claims he had more lucrative deals on the table in the past that he declined. The man needs to cut his losses and let the team be managed by somebody competent. If people were offering upwards of 1.2B (1.5-2B) for the Yotes then you can bet they probably cared more about the franchise. It’s an utter joke that they’re not transferable. The NHL should consider all folded teams inactive with the rights provided to any new ownership that wants to revive or bring in a new team. Let the individual markets hold the branding/records/etc.
