Love the music of Meat Loaf. Remember him appearing on kids TV numerous of times in the UK. He was also a great actor.
Thanks for the very real and understanding reaction to this touching performance of this song by Meat Loaf and his ability to always insert himself into the lyrics of his songs. Jim Steinman who wrote this and most of Meat Loafs songs knew all about Meat’s life and knew how to match his lyrics to at times real feelings and experiences of Meat Loaf’s life. The official music video of the song is like watching a short movie as it was so well done with Hollywood Director Michael Bay directing it with a big budget production team. This “ Live” performance leaves out the second verse of the song when it talks about Meat Loaf’s hard childhood when his dad was an alcoholic that beat him all the time , until he was old enough to run away from him to begin his new life on his own…. Which thankfully for him and the world , was becoming this beloved singer/actor that gave us so much entertainment and happiness over his long career. RIP Meat Loaf as the Lord has called you back home and your souls journey here is over 😇💫❤️

This performance was missing the 2nd verse about his alcoholic father beating him. See the 1993 live version to get the whole thing and better younger voice resonance.
Watching Meatloaf preform live is always a gift. His energy & spirit come through his music. Seeing him in the movie Fight Club, allowed for me to see his real soul. His offerings to our music world is spiritual, incredible & genuine. Missing his light is a good thing. Well rested you old soul. Appreciations to you for sharing this one!
This song is definitely in my Top 5 favorite Meat Loaf songs. It touches on some deep topics of what it means to be human. Nice to hear this live version, but do go back and check out the official video. The cinematography is superb, and Meat Loaf is doubly so. I can't articulate how much his music has meant to me over the last 5 decades... Mr. Aday, thank you for it all. You are loved and missed.

There is a verse on the album version that he left out of this performance, it details the abuse he suffered at the hands of his father. Might have been too emotional to sing every night.
