  • I have been wanting to drive the Rubicon Trail in Lake Tahoe, CA for some time now. So after a two day drive from Wyoming I finally made it here so I can cross off a major trail from my bucket list! Unfortunately things don't go as planned.

    My own opinion, any time you don't break any thing you had a decent day.

    My buddy and i did the Rubi by ourselves in summer of 2021. I checked every box except in jeepers jamboree website diff sliders. 2007 jeep Rubicon two door with 37s and 3.5” lift.
    You guessed it. The diffs leaked afterwards because of lack of diff sliders.
    Next time I’ll follow their recommendations to the tee…… when i take my new four door
    Fyi. We went all the way from georgetown to top of cadillac hill in one day. Just steady wheelin. Lots of fun.

    That’s all we used to have , 72 cruiser with 33s and a 3 speed and a wench , air down and pay attention . In my opinion lol trailer queens are irritating

    • @CodeBrownProductions
      @CodeBrownProductions  3 года назад +1

      I don't consider mine to be a trailer queen. It just can't do highway very well plus I feel better knowing I have an option to get home if I break the Jeep.

      I like you. I just bought an 04 rubicon and I got a 4in with 35x15. Have a ranger too but the jeep is now my daily. It's just too much damn fun no matter the terrain. He'll never see a trailer unless I break something and don't have a choice.

    Do you think a stock JL Willys Wrangler can make it up? I feel like the JL has more overall clearance than previous models but I can definitely be wrong.

  • @kirkpalmer1709

    You would have made it just fine as long as you didn't break anything important. Your jeep just would have been beat up a little and that rear bumper might have gotten half ripped off. I knew you didn't go all the way through when the video was over half over and you were still on the granite slab.

    It’s people like this that make the trail hard for other people. You just expect another person to pull you all the way off the trail when your truck fails.
    I ask all not to try this because I have been the person to drag another first timer inexperienced person 8 miles off the trail. Ruined my family’s weekend.
    Just at least go with another truck so you can handle your own responsibilities

    • @CodeBrownProductions
      @CodeBrownProductions  4 года назад +24

      Funny, I don't seem to remember anyone pulling me off the trail. If I recall correctly I made the smart and responsible decision to turn around when realizing I was over my head.

    • @allgoodjd
      @allgoodjd 4 года назад +7

      He's right. He pulled back once he knew he couldn't do it. It was the smart thing to do.
      I for one appreciated his honestly and think it will deter people who aren't ready from tackling this trail. He knew from the start it wasn't necessary a good idea but he knew his limits unlike the person you pulled out. Maybe if that person saw this video your weekend would have been more enjoyable.

      Wow. Elitists in the Jeep world. That's too bad.
      It's also too bad that I've seen stock jeeps make it all the way through, those jerks with stock trucks thinking they can go have fun.
      Wonder what Mark Smith would think.
      I'm glad I don't have to be around you in real life, I had a version of you though. Saying I couldn't make it the same places because he's twin locked lifted 8 inches sitting on 38's while I'm no lift on 32's with stock side steps on my little Toyota, I can go everywhere he can go plus some he can't.
      Don't rain on other people's parade, you don't want to tow someone? Then don't, but don't tell people you can't come here because you didn't spend enough money on a trail that stock chevy square bodies can make.
      Experience is more important than equipment.
      I hope the next time you need to get something fixed the technician tells you he hates people like you because you can't fix it yourself even though you own it, therefore you shouldn't be allowed to have one.

    • @sgg17003

      A little bit of butthurt here. I see the point of the guy who had to tow someone 8 miles back and ruin his family's weekend.
      If I was in that position I'd probably agree a little bit more.

  • @texanerection492

    I don’t got any lockers on mine, and it can get through just about everything I put it up to. Now I’ve been off-roading with Jeep’s for 20+ years so I have some experience, so that probably plays a huge factor in it... But none the less, lockers aren’t the biggest deal in the world (as long as you have some other jeepin tools).

      @texanerection492 3 года назад +3

      viczvapo yes I did. If you’re thinking about doing it I would make sure you are well equipped and try to have some with you. It’s not that bad, but better safe than sorry. Especially if you are new to off-roading. Don’t do anything that makes you uncomfortable.
