  • A lockdown performance of Haydn's 'The Heavens are Telling' by members of Halifax Choral Society.
Featuring soloists Christine Birchall Sampson, Warren Gillespie and William Burn.
The Halifax Choral Society is the world’s oldest Choral Society with an amazing unbroken record of performance since 1818 and its members continue to love making music.
The recording was made by members of HCS in the summer of 2020 during the Covid-19 lockdown.
This compilation of Haydn’s The Heavens are Telling, from his oratorio ‘The Creation’, proves just how adaptable the choir is. The oratorio was sung by HCS at its first ever public concert on Monday 9 February 1818; this chorus symbolises our determination to continue making music together.
Halifax Choral Society is always pleased to welcome potential new members, even if you aren’t completely sure whether choral singing is for you. If you would like to try us out, or just want more information, the Choir can be contacted via email at: coordinator@halifaxchoralsociety.co.uk
