- Julia Hartley-Brewer challenges former Labour spokesperson James Matthewson over his comment that Angela Rayner has always conducted herself with a “very high standard”.
Angela Rayner hit out at the Tories’ “desperate tactics” after police said they would take no further action following an investigation into her living arrangements prompted by a senior Conservative.
The deputy Labour leader had faced claims she may have broken electoral law and dodged capital gains tax and council tax because of the way she and her then husband used separate homes.
Julia says: “She’s someone who… called her Tory opposition ‘SCUM’ for goodness sake.”

Under tax laws maried couples are only allowed ONE main residence. Thus if you have a second property, whether you live there or not, you are due to pay Capital Gains Tax if you sell the second property. She not only bought the property at a huge discount but then made a gigantic profit and did not pay tax on it like everybody else would have been forced to do. She is a LIAR. Her mate Andy Burnham obviously brought his influence to bear on the local Police just like what happened in Durham.
The last time I checked, HMRC was the Tax Office, and was part of the Government. Has that changed?
Surely HMRC have found that any increase in the value of the property occurred in a previous tax year during the time when it was her sole residence, therefore she didn't have a capital gains tax liability.

It's not a complicated story - she's a liar and she's unethical. She's also not qualified for the job. Imagine you go in for an operation and they pull the cleaner into the theatre and say yeah, she hasn't got a degree, she didn't pass her GCSEs or A levels, but she really, really wants to do the job and everyone likes her so we thought we'd give it a go. There are some things where you need to be educated, you need to be able to think, and you need a track record. It's outrageous the lack of talent we have in our MPs and this is scraping the very bottom of the barrel. If I wanted to know how to hoover the carpet better, how to wipe my arse, or needed help with getting dressed then I might ask Angela, but when it comes to how to run the country there are so many better women that could do the job.

There was a time when we had grown up's as politicians who could disagree but not let it get personal. Having respect of the other person view even if you disagree with it is what adults do. Someone once said I disagree with what has been said but will defend to the death a persons right to say it.
And she never ate pizza or drank beer with colleagues during Covid.
No one should be slagging off other politicians the way she has and by rights the doubts about her previous conduct should have continued being investigated. She has now shown her true colours and I would never vote for her or her party in any circumstances as the party is confirming this sort of behaviour is acceptable which I certainly don't think it is. Still we will see at the election if the voters in the proposed constituency think as I do, or really don't think about the quality of the candidate only the party.
So one rule for Labour and another rule for Conservatives - God help us if Labour get in
