If you're new to Ubuntu, hopefully this beginner's tutorial helps you with getting started with the operating system. More advanced videos covering the various Linux distros will be coming to this channel in the future... Thanks for watching :)
How does Linux Mint compare to Ubuntu?
Yes this helps and is encouraging for a try-out. Thanks a lot.
You are amazing. unlike other RUclipsrs. nice Tutorial. Pls make one on Kali Linux.
Hey techgumbo as we say in Jamaica big up your self
Your a cool dude man much respect foryour friendly and informational video
Looking forward to more of the same . Can't wait to ditch Windows. I'm using Windows 7 and when this dies I'm going Linux.
It combines everything I love about windows and Mac OS and adds so much more

I am slowly doing away with Windows 10, I am using Linux or Ubuntu on my own computers. My computer runs much faster. I only use W-10 on the computer my wife uses.
Lol the wife be root 🤖
Linux Mint is awesome. I have used Ubuntu like two years ago, but after I tried Mint, I knew what is actually fast OS. I am downloading Ubuntu ATM to test it after long time.
The Guy what is better for beginners? Ubuntu or mint?
@@jonathanlange1339 I used Ubuntu for few weeks after my comment about downloading it. I still think in the same way as I have done for years. Mint is more friendly for eyes. Ubuntu is technically simpler, but it is not. I think every button is just too huge. Ubuntu may be better for old people that want to learn PC, but anyone under 30's should be using Mint.
Sorry for my English, I am not too good with it.
How's looking out for you 2 years later
Been trying the Ubuntu 22.04 development version for a couple of days and have been very pleased with the aesthetics, performance and stability. The user interface and desktop interface are top notch, really beautiful and customizable. Well done for the Ubuntu team. Great LTS release! Congratulations

wow, great tutorial, would love to see a series on moving from windows to Ubuntu installation process :) - Keep up the amazing updates and thanks again for the valuable information you share with us.
Thank you for such a good presentation. Yours is the first beginner's tutorial that didn't assume that I already know everything about Ubuntu/Linux. Now I'm encouraged to make the switch. Windows 7 support ends January 2020 and I'm not going to the newer windows crap. I have subscribed to your channel and will be following you closely. thanks again.
I just switched to ubuntu from windows 10 today and this is the first video I am seeing to get started to ubuntu and I already am love with ubuntu as their are some many features that I wanted on my laptop wich were not there in windows and my laptop's speed is increased considerably ,
Thankyou so much for giving me this excellent starting guide 🙂
I just started using ubuntu today and It is way faster than when I used windows. I was afraid of using ubuntu at first because I needed microsoft office for some school projects but it also offered that. The ubuntu software makes the download of the apps way easier than some other linux distros and I personaly find it way more useful than the windows 10 app store.
Great beginners guide. simple and to the point without over load of information. I look forward to seeing the future videos. maybe see a feature I hadn't stumbled onto yet :) Love the Videos BTW :D
thanks for the tutorial! I used to play around with ubuntu when I was 13... now 10 years later im being hired for a job that's having me use a system I haven't touched since then. this video helps
Great introductory video - got me really excited about Ubuntu and I can't wait now to try it out.
Ubuntu is so much faster than windows I think. I know Gimp opens up WAY faster on Ubuntu than on Windows
Yeah your right
True dude👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
i just installed ubuntu, and i noticed the same thing. Ubuntu is soo fast
True it revived my old laptop that had windows
@@sovereign3311 I got Ubuntu on virtual box on i9 9900k @5ghz 32gb ram, rtx 2080ti. I gave the vm 4gb ram 2 cores and 20gb hdd space... And its choppy as fuck, just launching the app draw the animations all over the shop lol Is that shit normal for Ubuntu? Also for some strange reason I can't seem to select my minitors native resolution, only wierd in between resolutions. There's not even 1080p as an option, I settled on 1980 x 1440p wtf kind res is that idk 😅
Thanks for the time you took to make this.
Well done too, no annoying music or superfluous nonsense.
I'm a beginner with Ubuntu and I found this very helpful. Thanks
Dope Video! Sending blessing your way, Keep inspiring!🎒🙌🏻
Very much appreciated! Literally cannot wait to ditch Windows 10 and this was all the assurance I required, in terms of how exceptionally straightforward Ubuntu is/how easy it is to pick up.
Thank you. Very well explained. I want to change to Linux from Windows and your tutorial has shown just how easy it is to use Linux.
Thank you!! I'm just looking for more videos on yout channel, that was perfect for me. You saved me!
Late to the party, but I just want to say THANKS! I searched for a while to get a good, clean intro to a Linux system (I'm thinking about taking the plunge). I am interested in the history, the kernel, etc., BUT right now I need to know what it's like to use it.. This was perfect.

I'm new to Linux. I just installed Ubuntu from Windows 10 via USB and I am well pleased at the OS. I have a Dell Inspiron 15 3000 with 1TB HDD so I have lots of space for projects lol. Loved this beginners video very much. Thanks!!!
Hey. Could u help me out on how u installed Ubuntu in your laptop? Any guide u followed or steps u used that can be used by me? BTW I am new to the world of PCs.

Helpful video I'm getting sick of Microsoft's garbage. Is Firefox still able to use all the plugins available, or are they OS specific? Like Android FF has almost no plugins available. .
Loved!!
That was helpful. Thanks
VLC media player was the shyt back in the day. Thanks for the reminder, gonna download it on my windows pc later.
a very useful primer as i'm partitioning my laptop today (unfortunately i have certain work requirements that need me to have windows at home) to get ubuntu on it and then when i build my pc later in the year, i'll definitely be on ubuntu.

Thanks! Please more new Ubuntu videos. I am a newbie, and done with windows, wanna switch to Ubuntu.
Ubuntu is my Linux distro of choice! Reliable, similar to Windows, and easy to use!
you remind me of the old days. perhaps I should dual boot windows 10 and ubuntu
This video is exactly what I was looking for and has perfect explanations and inferences about possible questions/needs. Keep up the good work 💜
Great video. I use CentOS and Windows, both professionally and personally a lot. However, CentOS (being a RHEL variant) doesn't do as well as a desktop platform from what I understand from coworkers. This video shows a lot of features that are great to be aware of, how to use and etcetera. It helped that you spoke with confidence, loudly and clearly for people to understand you too.
Are there any video games for Ubuntu being written?
I turned to Linux Today after my windows was affected by PIIQ virus and that virus deleted all my softwares and doc
I found this very useful I had used the data wipe I ended up losing the operating system from then I had to download virtual box onto my other computer then download linux ubuntu to boot load this operating system to be able to use it and i like this way better then windows thanks.
Thanks so very much
Congrats on 500k subscribers.
Very good!
Thank you. I need more--from the beginning.
Yeah your right
My first flavor was slacko puppy linux and oh boy I was so impressed.
Haven't stopped using it since then.
love this video
Thanks for the video, I have not touched Linux since RedHat 6.22. I bought this program for my laptop I have owned since new. Having Windows Vista on it I wanted to update it to 10 so I could use a software defined radio on it. No way am I paying 135.00 for windows. Uncle Billy has seen his last dime from me .I am grateful tho. I made a lot of money as a tech keeping windows working for clients.
Current UBUNTU is just an improved and nicer looking version of this, every year it gets closer and closer to being able to completely replace Windows for a mainstream normal user. sure there are a few hiccups but as a student software developer i'm sure i'll be fine. I actually enjoy learning Bash and how to use the terminal, it's refreshing to just type sudo apt-get theappiwant and it just installs immediately with no restart needed.
Love You Man
Thanks!
Very good video

From my point of wiev, when you are buyin a computer with an adiacent software, on sale, it shoud work. This computer was bought on sale, with receipt, and it commed with an version of "Ubuntu". I do not want to talk about he other issues as other adiacent "opportunities'', such as...other advanced oportunities...Plus it is an very powerfull market tool too, at the end is wright me, the buyer and the consumer. Thank you!
Thanks a Lot...
I'm reviving an almost 10 yr old laptop that was shelved after a hard drive failure (I'm lazy) and a friend suggested Ubuntu when I asked if I was screwed regarding windows and the age of my machine. I just want to use it again for basic stuff, documents and video editing... This looks like good alternative and I'm looking fwd to using it.
Hey. How did it go?
That girl on the h3h3 video really need this tutorial .
I recently installed ubuntu in a virtual box to test it out. There's one feature that I don't get but its probably just the virtual box. When you lock your screen, on the upper right, there's a pause button instead of a power button. When I clicked it, it looks like its shutting down but it just goes into a blank black screen. I have to reset the virtual box to makw it run again and it shows it wasn't shut down properly. What does that button do?
Clear explanation, I might go that way - sorry Mr Gates...
thank you
I would like to see about files management. In windows it's very easy to identify hard drives in anything we are doing.
If you want see all partitions, open files then click on other locations located on left side.
thanks you
Using Ubuntu for a very long time primarily for entertainment surfing, I have a couple laptops that have Intel HD graphics and the kernel is better than Windows. I was having HDMI audio freezing with w10. This hardware hasn't been supported since w8. Only thing I don't like is Firefox doesn't allow me to easily save a URL shortcut on the desktop.
dual-booted ubuntu on my cheap, generic windows laptop, and couldn't be happier! Plus it's great for my programming, since Ruby and Rails are optimized for Linux and sucks on Windows.
