I grew up with Allen Iverson.
The apartments we lived in had about a 2 mile stretch of road named Garden Dr. running right through the middle of it. I lived on one end, Bubbachuck, as he was known then, lived on the other.
Chuck would start at one end of Garden Dr. and practice dribbling the ball between his legs. With each step he took, he bounced the ball through, and if he messed up once, he started over from the beginning of Garden Dr. until he could go up and down the roughly 2 miles perfectly.
He would do that for hours. Every day. From around about 9 years old until he moved away when he was around 12.
Most days it would just be him out there and me watching from my usual spot sitting on the sidewalk in awe. I was about 4 years younger than him and he was very territorial, so we didn't have many meaningful interactions other than him sneering at me to get out of the way or to stop sitting on his porch staring at him and not talking, but I didn't care.
I had no idea that I was watching a future global superstar (this was '86 - '90 ish), but I instinctively knew that I was gaining valuable insight on just how much hard work it takes to be great at something, so I'd better pay attention.
    Thanks, Chuck.

A.I. more than lived up to expectations but he wasn't always on a title contender (especially in Philly).
So I guess that his rationale was that win or lose, as long as he played well, he could live the results.
Also A.I. was on the floor A LOT, he's 4th All-Time in MPG and played over 40 Minutes a night for most of his career. I don't think that anyone can blame him for wanting or even needing to decompress.

Sounds like they just hated on the players who had the gift….lol….I don’t give a damn how you live if your on court performance is where it should be. He getting arrested? Doing illegal shit? Violating team rules? No….none of that?
Well pass him the fucking ball and let his gift be great.

This show is 1000% better than watching Skip or Colin Cowherd, Stephen A... we have eyes we all can watch the game and see who made a shot missed and play but this is real insightful, not a bunch of screaming hollering or crying about who is your favorite superhero doing things you couldn't do but wished you had the talent. Those debate shows are 100% scam artistry.

People get in the league and stressed this narrative of privilege being there or you have to work on your craft and dedication. When in honestly, no you don't. This is a game, and in this game the best person wins naturally once the horn sounds, and afterwards you go live your life. And that's what Iverson did. Being an NBA player isn't a everyday job, that's for people who really aren't that good and seek to be. Its about who's the best on the court on four quarters. And Iverson is the best, he failed to obtain rings based on the true structure of that league. Not his committal.

My thing is how does a.i. putting in more practice time change his career when the fact of the matter when he was in Philly was that his teammates just weren't that good and HE WAS THE OFFENSE?

I mean if he had worked on his 3 ball more it would have extended his career when he lost his athleticism after Denver. And also just drinking way less would have made his athleticism last longer and make him way less volatile of a person which would have extended his career. The last 3-4 years of his career were insane. The Detroit/Memphis/Philly/Istanbul years were out of control. He was getting banned from casinos and shit for being so wild.

Multiple NBA legends won rings with only one other All-Star caliber player on their roster. Dikembe was on that Sixers team so what's AI's excuse?

Dahnay jones was a certified gold tier scrub in the NBA. And he has the unmitigated gall to talk about AIs love for the game. His career ppg if 5. And he played for 10 teams in 13 years. Iverson is a legend
