Noe arrogant? He quite literally said out loud what happens pretty much in all arts if not created in vacuum (which it's not), that he more like mixes things he likes from other movies and makes it something differend. He have straight out said that he liked the storytelling of Memento and hence used it, I tho disagree with it being irrelevant to the story and enchances Irreversible a lot. Many are not willing to say they do that to differend extent especially in filmmaking, that they took a very clear inspiration (for example Nolan has quite a lot old school Bond type of things in his movies 😅). Tarantino have also said so, but then again he does that on a hyper scale with shot for shot composing from another movies scene, just with a differend context. Also much more to the point of it's better to just say aloud.
Is it more like.. arrogant humble then to you? 😂 Because Noe is pretty much always like this and don't neccesarily see himself as highly as others for knowing the secret behind the magic trick. Doesn't want to make up a fake story why he did something shocking for these 100 important reasons when the reason could be quite mundane.
