I was a student from Ireland in the U. S. many years ago. Before returning home, with two friends I drove from Baltimore, Maryland to Santa Cruz California. We spent most of New Year’s Eve at the Grand Canyon before driving on to California to celebrate the New Year. It was cold at the Canyon but almost 70 degrees when we arrived in Needles! Two memories stand out: the amazing contrast in temperature, and the police warning us of crazy drunk people on the roads. The temperature is my principle memory of Needles. Santa Cruz and California though, even in January were beautiful.

I lived in Needless for a short time in the early 90s, nothing but cops, lops, and lots of drunks.
