Inexpensive Freightliner Cascadia fridge/microwave install/renovation

Probably preferable for owner operators. Company drivers might not be able to do this solution but the cabinet that I took out is intact and could easily be put back in as easily as it was taken out. A company driver could do this if they chose to and if they can have an inverter. Dual door 3.2 cu ft fridge, microwave, and cabinet space. Minimally intrusive, skill level moderate. Original cabinet removed and replaced.
I never got a chance to do the install on the other truck. Our schedules never fit but here is a link to detailed instructions for this install.

I had a 16 freightliner Cascadia. I cut the bottom half of thar passenger side cabinet out. I kept the top half mounted. Didn't need that bottom cubby. Walmart mini fridge 3ft tall ...can't remember the cubic square inches. Got a small rubber floor mat velcro to top of fridge. Placed micro on top got a pull strap around fridge and micro and it fit perfectly behind passenger seat. I wish I had a picture to show but it looked professional. 2000 WATT INVERTER. MAN IT WAS AWESOME. BUT YEA THAT MICRO PLATE CAME OUT WHEN J WAS ROLLING RATTLING DROVE ME CRAZY. BUT GREAT PERSPECTIVE BRO

looks like it works, looking at doing a similar setup on my cascadia, the inverter, charger, and an install kit PLUS that fridge come out to just a little more than the custom fridge costs WITHOUT the brackets to mount it since mine already has one installed, but it's dead so here I am. Would still go with some straps hooked into some D hooks from the floor over the top of the fridge, I read somewhere in the fmcsa book that the straps are required. makes sense in case some meathead runs you off the highway.
Just started a new job. I'm used to driving the Volvo and had everything set up for it. Now I'm in a Cascadia. I like what you did there. I need to see if they'll let me do that
Took my 3 girls and there mom on the road wth me in my 780, housed us all greatly, plenty of room. Did it in the cascadia n we were miserable. Definitely looking at doing this set up
Great work! I'm about to invest in a VNL 780 and will be doing some customizing to the rear section myself. When I was OTR from 2010 > I did all my cooking in the cab, MW, crockpot, freezer and a fridge. Great ideas! See you on the road. Jerry

Awesome! Thank you for sharing! I wanted to separate freezer myself but got a 660 and on the top bunk so have a 2.4 cubic only uses 80 Watts when running. sitting on styrofoam as well :-)

Very innovative bro, fridge came in the truck but I’m on my second one in a year and it just went out again. They will replace it again, definitely need to get me a microwave✌🏾

thats strange. I am a company driver with USX and they let us put micro waves and sm frigs. just as long as you dont use both at the same time (but no hot plate)

Unfortunately no. If I had another truck to do it on I would do one. What's more, the cabinet is no longer available from sterilite.
Awesome. I had a frig like that but when I would go over the road the bottom would make noise but looking at your video you have the styrofoam on the bottom does that keep it from making noise. I have killed two of them

I have a 2014 Cascadia 113. I bought a fridge that’s 1/4” too tall. There is a metal bracket from the factory I guess that’s in the way and I can’t figures how to remove it. Any ideas?

I measured the dimensions then cut the carpet to fit. That was pretty easy.

No. A 1000W should be plenty.
With the fridge and Microwave on tbe 2000w inverter, you don't have any issues running the microwave??? Bc I've heard others having issues

What is it that your wife made for you to put the glass plate in and how did she make it? I have the same problem with my glass plate rattling and making noise while driving
1st off it would be best to take it out of the microwave while you're driving. As far as what what what my my wife made it was just a pocket made from a cloth placemat sewn together on either end
With the truck vibrations all compressor fridges die in 6 to 9 months “broken down”
Yes. Ac compressors are a different animal. Lucky to get a year out of it. Have gone thru several over the years.

The only fire risk would come from thr inverter if any.

Cylais buddy I know what you are talking about I have a 3.5 Haier fridge freezer combo. Then ratchet strapped to that is my microwave could send you a photo I literally have to almost fat man squeeze just to get to the front of the truck. I drive a company truck so not sure if I could do this or not, but would like to discuss this more. I can give you my email,or cell phone number and we could text. Anything to get me some more room.
