  • Today I bring you along on a typical day at Stanford. I did a bunch of computer sciency stuff - prepared for my engineering trip to China, presented my app, and worked on a web app. Love this school!!!!!

    At the moment I am trying to decide if I want to go into computer science and web design in college. It’s great to see a woman in this field sharing what she does everyday!

    Hey I hope you read this
    I am a high schooler who likes coding and so far I've learned HTML CSS and jquery. My question is should I take website designing to the bottom or just get a highlight of other languages? Which one is more l beneficial for college?

    Just curious, were you born into a Singaporean family? No disrespect if you are not, but that’s how we spell the surname Wang in Singapore: Ong, which is super weird. By the way, love your video! And do you consider Arduino too simple for college programming?

      I'm Taiwanese :) And thank you! Arduino isn't too simple! Depends on what you do with it.

    Hi, hope you're well. I have a computer science query. My brother is interested in pursuing compsci and is looking for a laptop that will last him 5 years (for college and university). Currently, he is looking at the HP Spectre x360 - he likes it due to its slim build. He is not that fond of gaming laptops. He wants something lightweight, durable and portable. I'd appreciate if you could give any recommendations. Thank you.

      Get any laptop with at least i5 processor and 8GB or more RAM. MacBooks last longer because they rarely get bloated but if you know how to maintain a Windows laptop, then it shall be no problem what laptop you get. Or you could just install Linux and have fun with it.

    This is sad. You obviously love photography and could have majored in something like it. Sadly, the allure of start-ups, facebook, google, etc. made you major in CS. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure you like CS more than you did in HS. However, this happens to so many people because there is such a STEM focus at Stanford. This pressure causes humanities people to major in CS in hopes of "being more successful".

    • @Zheng261
      @Zheng261 6 лет назад +56

      This is sad. You obviously care a lot about the state of humanities at STEM schools. Sadly, the allure of feeding your "I know what's best" complex and passive-aggressively condemning a student who is just trying her best made you post this. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure university hostility towards humanities is a huge problem that needs attention. However, your solution to this problem was to look at peoples' videos, make several incorrect assumptions and generalizations about them, and proceed to explain how much better you can assess what's best for these people than they can for themselves. Just because there exists a community bias against humanities, does not mean that every student who declares CS and has some humanities-related interest or hobby is being "oppressed" out of their clearly better-suited art or english or history major. Pretentiously and narrow-mindedly making false accusations helps no one.
