Mumbiker Nikhil bro i live in jammu...so i guess i am ready for ladakh trip...because i have gone to sonemar ...and bro i am buying the r15 v3 which may come in july 2017....will it be helpfull in my trip
“Don’t get ready, Stay Ready” this attitude will take you long way and make your ride more easeful. Most important point in-case of breakdown, first check fuel level in the tank before anything else. People tend to open the whole bike for searching the problem and most times the fuel tank is dry. 1. Firstly make sure your bike is well maintained and is properly serviced 2. Tyres Get your bike tyres checked and if necessary get new ones especially the rear one. Make sure you get off-roading tyre(s) 3. Chain Check for chain sprocket, if it has broken gears (teeth) get it replaced. Also get the chain setting done from mechanic. Make sure you inform the mechanic if you are riding solo or with pillion and he will do the chain setting accordingly. 4. Suspension / Shock observers Check Suspension / Shock observers and break shoe. Make sure you carry the rear shocks nut-bolts along with spare chain locks. 5. Chain Clean & Chain Lube Must have, Every morning before resuming your ride. Spray the chain cleaner, keep the wheel moving for 5-10 mins and spray chain lube after that. Daily practice will keep your bike chain assembly well lubricated & functional. 6. Air Filter Check and change if necessary. 7. Battery Water / Engine Oil Check and top-up as necessary. 8. Clutch cable and Accelerator Cable Put new ones and carry one spare clutch cable and accelerator cable for the ride. 9. Spark Plugs Check and carry one set with you 10.Bike Covers Not a must have, however it saves your time of un-mounting and mounting of saddle bags and other luggage. And above all helps conserve your valuable energy. 11.Saddle Bags / Ladakh Carrier 12.Bungee Cords / Spider Bungee Must have. Helps in many ways to put your stuff together and easy to manage 13.Petrol Can Must have. There are areas where the distance between 2 fuelling stations is more. For example the nearest fuelling station after Tandi is located at 365 kms at Karu. (Manali-Leh route) 14.Carabiner Must have, comes handy and easy to use for last moment mountings. For example bathroom slipper can be easily hooked to it 15.Waist Pouch Must have, useful to keep documents, eatables, fuses, cable ties, nut-bolts and some smaller spares. 16.Tail Bag Optional. However proves to be useful if your stuff exceeds. 17.Tank Bag Must have. Proves to be very useful and handy while on the go. 18.Riding Jacket Must have, no compromise with safety. Preferably go for jackets with armours. 19.Reflector Belts Must have, makes you visible from a distance and also distinct from others. 20.Riding Gloves Must have, no compromise with safety. 21.Woollen Gloves Good to have if atall you may feel the chill. 22.Thermals / Long Jhons Must have, keeps you warm in cold weather 23.Warmers A modern and handy pouch that will keep you warm for 8 hours. 24.Gumboots Must have once you start from Manali. You can easily get those from mall road, Manali. 25.Oxygen Cylinders Useful and good to have in-case of emergency. 26.Sun glasses Must have. Carry UV protection glasses. 27.Balaclava / Bandana Must have, keeps dust away 28.Toilet paper roll / Wet tissues Must have, comes handy in the coldest of regions. 29.Paper Soap Must have, comes handy almost everywhere. Easy to hand-wash for meals on the go. 30.Extra Bike Keys Must have, Carry both original and one extra key. 31.Documents Photocopies Carry 4 set photocopies of following documents: License, RC Book, PUC 32.Sleeping Bag Not a must, however will be useful at odd locations. 33.Poly Bags- Large Keep all your apparels and spares well packed in big poly bags before placing your stuff in saddle/tail bag 34.Fuel Pipe / Battery Lock / Battery Rubber Strap / Cable Ties / Helmet Lock / Fevi-quick / Fuses all types / Head Lamp Bulb / USB Charger Cellophane/Duct Tape / Nut-Bolte (size 10, 12 & 13) / Heavy Duty Towing Cable /Jumper Cable / Must have. All these items will be very useful during your ride 35.Extra Tyre-Tubes Carry extra tyre-tubes especially for the rear wheel. Make sure you carry the right size tube made by a branded manufacturer. 36.Electronic Air Pump Good to have. Comes handy if you may have a flat tyre. Make sure the air pump has a PSI pressure gauge. 37.Medicines Consult your family physician and share about the ride. The doctor will prescribe the correct medicines. Especially about Diamox tablets RIDE HARD, LIVE FREE...
Wonderful pointers A couple of things I always carry when riding long distances 1. A torch or a head lamp 2. A tool kit for the bike - i assemble my own along with a few spare fuses, cable tie, mounting tape 3. A pump or CO2 cartridge 4. A bottle of water or a hydra pack incase u re stranded in the middle of no where 5. Consider heated grips for cold or rainy climates

Mumbiker Nikhil sir can you suggest the route from kolkata to leh and is there any specific time in the year for bike riding in/for ladakh?? please reply if possible ..thank you
thanks Nikhil , I was planning fr this trip, as me Nd my Wife v are solo rider Couple ( too hv a RUclips Channel) thanks for making my ride more smooth through this video
Very honest and a very much required detailed review on the things necessary for the Ladakh ride. It is a dream destination/ride for most of us because of which sometimes we tend to forget many things to take on the ride. i would blindly suggest this video to anyone who asks me for the Ladakh ride preparations.
Good informative video .....One thing I thought of is person traveling to Ladakh needs to continuously keep hydrating as you dehydrate because of altitude and cold. Ideally take ORS which is available at any chemist and mix it water to hydrate yourself. Diamox (altitude sickness tablet take at 12 hr interval ) will reduce the phosphorous in your body which will be compensated by ORS and keep you well hydrated.
very useful video for me ur best video is ladakh..every video is great bt ladakh oh just osmmm.. great information..must needed n useful...*ur rokstar*
Thank you very much MumBIKER Nikhil I loved the vedio, I found your ride journey was a good source of information gathering and All the best for your next venture..👌👌!!

Hi Pratamesh, Also at higher altitudes the combustion rate is less and it directly affects the bike's milage and performance. But the newer engines are capable. I did meet a Delhi girl on Honda Active riding towards Leh.

At the end on the ride it all depends on the rider how he control hi/her bike

Yes, PUC surely needed from the Manali side as well. Also if riding from the Manali side make sure you get the permit (for environmental reasons as only a given number of vehicles can pass from the check post each day). The permit is available at a nominal cost in the SDM office at Mall Road market.
Here are the contact details on Manali, SDM office:(Sub-Divisional Magistrate)- 01902254100, 01902254200
Timings for the SDM Office, Manali are 10.00 AM to 5.00 PM and do keep in mind that SDM Office Manali will be closed on National / Local Holidays, Sundays, Second Saturdays.
