When I was growing up Dune lived down the street. He would skate the local school with me. I didn’t know who he was at the time but he was always super nice. Always giving me decks. Literally pulling over when he noticed me on the street. He would give me those bamboo decks stereo made. Best dude ever. Even still he’s always been the same and never changed his views or morals. I try to reciprocate the same kindness to kids now just as he did to me.
I think Dune deserves at least 4 specials before his intro. He's one of the most important people in the history of skating at least through the 90's. I've been hoping and waiting for this interview for a while. Thanks Nine Club!
Met Chris at the X Games as a youngster and had recognized him from The Daily Habit. My dad and I introduced ourselves and he invited us into his suite. So gracious and cool to my pops and I. legend
That was so sick. You guys are killing it. Love this shit. Im 53 skate every day don't drive or have a license. Watching the nine club and experience and stop and chat give me fire to skate after doing it for 43 years. Keep it up guys. Roger rules. Slap the gap
I thought he meant Dune was a satanist. Natas is the male version of Natasha is believe and it is his real name, he’s not a satanist. People always talk about Gonz but Natas will always be the king of street skating for me.
Amazing interview. I loved the focus on Stereo history. It seems like Stereo becomes a footnote to Jason’s movie career in most interviews and it’s a shame. I hope Dune was serious when he said Lee wants to come on the show. I’d love to hear him walk through his skate career.
Pastras is a legend. Great episode! To keep it consistent with the announcer category, it would be cool to hear Selema (Sal) Masakela's story. Dude was the voice of actions sports for my generation in the late 90's - early 00's.
Was lucky enough to get a Dune’s Stereo deck designed by Alyasha. Dune even did a drawing of Thelonious Monk on the outside of the box it was shipped in. I’m never getting rid of that box by the way.
This was so refreshing to see this meeting of the minds, Chris Roberts is a great interviewer but Chris Pastras gave him and the boys a master class on how to do it lol
@@ambientjohnny His ability to have a face to face conversation with his guests, while being welcoming, conversational, and considerate at the same time
So dope, really loved the brotherhood story between him and Rodney Smith, how their parents were connected too. Lastly, so cool knowing Kareem was recruited for Blue early on before World. Motivated to run my own operation just like Dune.
Dune is seriously a huge inspo on following your dream and being TRUE to yourself no matter what. His vision never veered from what he wanted and he fought to keep it. I have the Home Depot graphic on the wall signed, in front of me while I work at my desk, above my Daewon Kill Bill graphic, for motivation. PS. LAVAR on the OG Stereo team is the BEST. Lotta love, Dune.
Yo thank you to everybody who worked on making Home Depot and Costco skateable, ive spent so much alone time skating those places when I had nowhere else to go in the wee hours. It’s really cool that these random spots have whole scenes around them.. and the beach too! Fuck man., I really need skateboarding and it’s good to have a place to feel comfortable being yourself for a while even if it’s under a freeway or the back of a parking lot.
I remember those shut guys coming to the park in sayreville nj in around 88/89 Mike Keeper was doing lofty ollies in the mini ramp. Mike V came there that year too. I was fifteen.
First place that i seen Dune on was Bluetorch used to watch it/record it immediately after school before going out to skate! Seen Crob on there too! I still have that vhs and cant believe that was 20 years ago this Sept!🤘👽
Stereo better load up on boards cuz the Nine Club is one hell of a marketing platform. Which by the way is awesome for smaller Brands and Legacy brands. Where else can you advertise for free and you know that 100,000 skaters are going to see it.
Love Chris “Dune” Pastras, total legend. It was great to hear more about Blue > Stereo, but I wish they spent even more time on that period. It’s also still a “mystery” why Gonz left bLind and fell out with Rocco (I understand that it was because of Ternasky coming in and starting Plan B through World).
So good. The Tortoise-heavy soundtrack, the editing, etc. It’s amazing. I remember watching it a bunch in my college dorm room in 1996-1997. A Visual Sound is better in regards to the skating, but the music and vibe of Tincan Folklore is a lot more interesting.
@@bennyshambles yeah dude it's more of an art piece. Low fi and raw. I was always into raw Street runs just pushing and taking it as it comes. The whole thing just clicks for me.
Not only do thing like curb clips speak to someone like me, but to see curb clips from like, crob and bagley, and dudes I admire so much is so fucking rad because it is stuff i can do. Just because you post clips/skate curbs doesn't mean you can't ALSO post other stuff too. Seeing stuff from people that stoke me out so much that I can actually do makes it that much more meaningful to me.
I had Lavar wheels. 38 mm. Also, had a Jason Lee Stereo deck. Race car type graphic with yellow background, but I can never find a picture of it. Damn I wish I kept that board.
Fuck Yeah! Dune gave props to Duck Tran & John Orlanes! The 2 mentioned & Wilbur should’ve had some kind of spot on LA Boys. That whole Rene’s Records/Skate Shop(Melrose) Crew was super heavy!
i am a recent amputee, lost my right leg to pyoderma gangrenosum,a rare skin disease.been surfing & skating since 1967 and soon i am hoping to get back up on my skateboard, thats my goal but i am still in alot of pain and discomfort.how can i get on the nine club???

An interesting event! Thank you for using our product and sharing the skating experience of Chris Pastras.
Hook these guys up(if you haven't already!?) The show has been going from strength to strength over the years. Be rad if you guys got onboard 👍
Agreed with George Crooke. Hook up the nine club team, please! 🙏🏾
Jason Lee if you see this PLEASE do the show!
