The bit with children is so real!! I remember playing with a 2008 Yasmin but her hair felt so rough for some reason. I loved her but I couldn't stand her hair so I asked my mom to braid it so I wouldn't deal with it. Later on I found out that she indeed had Poly hair as MGA had to resort on that. As an adult now, sure I can deal and manage poly hair but kids don't. And the parents may do something to further damage the hair if they don't know where to research. Like doll collectors are not the only ones buying and playing with these dolls. I love the Day's Out line so much. Draculaura, Frankie, and Clawdeen look so good but my goodness, I can't stand Clawdeen's hair. Either I'm gonna microbraid her or reroot her someday idk. Ik it's a budget line but the fact Mattel is using it in their deluxe releases is so messed up fr.

Like the LACK of critical thinking and the way they’re trying to normalize poly hair is concerning, that’s exactly why Mattel keeps using it. I’m sorry but I do NOT have patience for Stans that can’t use their neurons and hold a multimillion company accountable. Mattel is NOT struggling or facing a financial crisis so let’s all stop acting like they’re some struggling indie brand that NEEDS to cut costs, this narrative is false, there’s no excuse for them to deliver shit quality dolls atp and considering they’re one of the oldest toy manufacturers which means they SHOULD be at the top of their game. They do it because we (consumers) allow it.
"g3 stans" are not a thing. Product consumers are not "stans". Attributing a poorly educated opinion on manufacturing materials to people liking the redesigns is wild. Ultimately, the problem is that Mattel has always had problems with the MH hair. Do "g1 stans" also lack critical thinking and can't use their neurons because they buy dolls that are so poorly made their joints are all floppy and the head vinyl is stained from glue seepage? Cmon now. You can criticize mattel without trying to shade and throw jabs are people who just like the new designs better.
I was on the Monster High Subreddit and someone made an entire post about how they thought poly hair is great because Clawdeen's poly hair is curly and anytime someone would use factual reasons why poly is bad they would act like that person was just a "hater" obviously I immediately downvoted the post

Honestly when I hear the price of 25$ I'm gagging because I'm sitting here in the poorest country of Europe where I have to pay 75$ and UP for a BUDGET omg doll, crazy, and the fact that there is no mh dolls at ALL and have to buy em of eBay for like 100$, i'm out here getting more broke than any doll collector
girl i feel you 😅 i live in finland and i have to pay at least double the prize for the dolls and some dolls take forever to even get here 🥲 i always joke with my friend that we have to travel abroad just to get the dolls for cheaper 😂😂
like you said, us as collectors we have access to products that help us treat poly and make its manageable but kids don’t and it’s sad that they won’t be able to enjoy the hair play aspect of a dolls because they can’t even brush through it. as of right now, i don’t mind poly being used as i know how to treat it and work w it but it’s sad knowing that my dolls hair won’t last and i’ll eventually have to reroot them it’s so stupid that mattel uses the excuse that they don’t have color matches when they clearly do and just choose to cheap out on dolls that are considered a luxury to have. i’m hoping that they stop using polypropylene as frequently as they do cus it’s just going to cause problems.

I will never shut up about Poly! It's a terrible fibre for doll hair, feels nasty and does not age well at all. I will never excuse Mattel for using it on MH. I am so sad that Abbey one of my most anticipated dolls has this hair type. I'm going to have to stop buying G3 poly dolls, which is a shame because I wanted the Skulltimate series 2. I don't even think kids deserve this bad hair, kids like to play and brush hair yet they give them the worst kind. I suppose we can reroot but also that's expensive in the long run and takes skill and time. Or I can buy a bunch of core dolls that already do have saran and treat SS and other releases like fashion packs instead to put on those but then I lose out on the new faceups... I hate mattel so much, they keep doing the MH community a disservice over and over again.
Hi 👋 very late but I used to be someone who didn't care about the poly hair but after seeing images of dolls with that hair degrading overtime, it made me realize just how much of a letdown it really was to have dolls like abbey and everyone in the secrets 2 line have polypropylene... they're so cute and pretty and just imagining their hair falling out is... :(
Plus the fake some dolls have poly is a deciding factor on buying them I have one Clawdeen and Cleo and they are from the 6 pack. I REALLY wanted Skullimate secrets 1 Clawdeen til I found out it was poly now like their cores I’m waiting til really good sale and holding out for the entire monster ball dolls. Courtly Jester said her source said ALL skullimate secret 2 line with ne poly hand the source has never been wrong! I almost cried I definitely wanted most of them they looked so good. What I don't understand is that companies claim it's because of the colors. But Katsilk comes in blues, purples, etc. So I don't see why they can use katsilk. Poly is plastic. it's not conducive to pretty doll hair.
I'm tired of some G3 fans just telling us to shut up about poly, like just cuz u don't mind that their hair is gonna fall off in like 10+ years, or that u're gonna have to spend 20+ dollars per doll on doll hair to reroot doesn't mean I have to not care!!! This is an issue I've noticed with a lot of G3 stans, any sort of critique is seen as an attack to the entirety of G3. I like a lot of the G3 dolls, but the quality just isn't there sometimes. This is why I'm always fond of RH even though they get called overpriced at the same price as G3 MH, they ALWAYS give us nylon

I hear the new $150 limited edition Ariel doll from the live action Little Mermaid remake has polypropylene hair. I can’t even comprehend how a ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY dollar adult collector doll has such cheap hair. Absolutely ridiculous.

See with old doll lines like bratz , novi stars , etc (basically old MGA lines) the poly hair is valid as MGA didnt have access to saran-(allegdly) mattel brought all of the saran But with newer dolls like monster high theres really no excuse for mattel to constantly use bad quality poly hair, espically when their meant to be played with , rainbow high has fantasy colored hair too yet they never used poly on any of them-all of the dolls have good nylon hair mattel is a billion dollar company they more then can afford nylon hair if they cant find fantasy colored saran hair yet they rather keep using cheap products instead that will make it harder for kids to play with
I'm fairly new to the doll collection scene and the g3 dolls are some of the first ones I've gotten, I'm sad the hair will disintegrate over the years but I'm also scared about having to eventually reroot because it seems like these dolls heads are significantly harder to remove without damaging. I know dollightful did a video on repairs if so but still, it'd be nice if they just used better hair quality for sure. I personally combed through my dolls with polypropylene hair and I don't mind it's texture but I definitely worry about the longevity. +With rerooting, it's going to be difficult to find a perfect color match, especially since these dolls hair can be so mixed and detailed like Abbey who has such beautiful colors throughout her hair being a slight blend of very light blue and purple with the matching tinsel(and I love the tinsel look on her).
I have sensory issues so doll hair is massively important to me. I wanted to buy some of the new MH dolls but hearing how many of them have poly hair really put me off. I love the new abbey doll but the poly hair is a dealbreaker, I just can’t stand that hair type. Plus it’s not like Mattel is struggling financially and I can’t imagine it’s THAT much more expensive or inconvenient to just use Saran hair instead!

So sad that so many g3 dolls are poly. I was looking forward to getting them but like. I get dolls so that I can own them FOREVER, not for a limited amount of time, so a lot of these g3 dolls just don’t interest me at all anymore.
I have over 10 big bratz dolls and more than half of them are from the 2010-2014 era of bratz and they all have poly hair but not only that but it’s used poly hair which makes it WORSE so not only is it dry and stiff but it’s crinkled and GROSS not to mention in like 10 years all of those dolls will be bald which you know puts the cherry in top

I have some vintage sailor moon little Chibi gashapon dolls from 1993 or around that time. For sailor Uranus they used poly hair. It literally crumbles into dust and I’ve had to re do her hair with kanekalon. Poly hair feels gross and crunchy after a while, it should be discontinued as a material option for dolls!
I’ll say I want them to not use poly but also please not Nylon I personally feel it feels greasy and am uncomfortable by it but Saran feels so soft and comfortable
Thats why i didn't get the 1st wave of ily 4ever disney bounding dolls from the disney store. The 2nd wave made by jakks pacific have nice nylon hair and i can't wait to get them.

I wanted to get the 1st wave so I watched a lot of reviews on here and Peace Love & Plastic yt channel did a review and explained that the Cinderella one at least had poly hair. That turned me off the first wave because sometimes I just relax and comb my dolls hair. It's like therapy, playing with my dolls.

I'm currently fully braiding Clawdeen's hair cus it's just so nasty, even after boilwash and conditioning it still feels like garbage. So frustrating

So sad that so many g3 dolls are poly. I was looking forward to getting them but like. I get dolls so that I can own them FOREVER, not for a limited amount of time, so a lot of these g3 dolls just don’t interest me at all anymore.

I have over 10 big bratz dolls and more than half of them are from the 2010-2014 era of bratz and they all have poly hair but not only that but it’s used poly hair which makes it WORSE so not only is it dry and stiff but it’s crinkled and GROSS not to mention in like 10 years all of those dolls will be bald which you know puts the cherry in top
Besides clawdeen, what other dolls have poly hair? I haven't opened my dolls yet. My oldest neice has her doll's and she plays with them. I'm getting ready to fix her monna doll.
I have some vintage sailor moon little Chibi gashapon dolls from 1993 or around that time. For sailor Uranus they used poly hair. It literally crumbles into dust and I’ve had to re do her hair with kanekalon. Poly hair feels gross and crunchy after a while, it should be discontinued as a material option for dolls!
I’ll say I want them to not use poly but also please not Nylon I personally feel it feels greasy and am uncomfortable by it but Saran feels so soft and comfortable

Thats why i didn't get the 1st wave of ily 4ever disney bounding dolls from the disney store. The 2nd wave made by jakks pacific have nice nylon hair and i can't wait to get them.

I wanted to get the 1st wave so I watched a lot of reviews on here and Peace Love & Plastic yt channel did a review and explained that the Cinderella one at least had poly hair. That turned me off the first wave because sometimes I just relax and comb my dolls hair. It's like therapy, playing with my dolls.
My thing is you all bought her you can’t say “we need to change” if you bought clawdeen you want things to change then don’t buy the poly dolls clawdeen Frankie Cleo bc when they use poly and you get them that only shows Mattel you’re willing to buy bad quality dolls if no ones buys the Poly girls they’re forced to change the hair quality so 🤷🏽♂️
always so funny when people in America say 25$ is premium price for a doll when budget MH dolls in Europe are 39€ and core line are 49 € for the same polypropylene having dolls 😢 i love them and i would still like to get clawdeen at some point but but her having polypropylene is stopping me from getting her

for people living in europe this is even worse, bc for example the monster high g3 dolls are 40 euros in here at the lowest. i would love to have the g3 dolls bc i love the design, but i will not pay that much money for a doll that’s hair feels disgusting 🥲
