Mercs Original Mode Completed Hard No Miss No Bombs Megadrive

No-commentary gameplay of Mercs / Senjou no Ookami II. US Version. Megadrive / Genesis. Original mode, hard difficulty. Played with Gens, no tools, cheats, autofire, re-recording or save states were used.
I had already uploaded a gameplay from the arcade version of Mercs. This time I have tried the original mode exclusive for the Sega Megadrive/Genesis version. This mode includes new levels and the possibility of buying items and upgrades. You can control 5 different characters, each one carrying a unique weapon and with their own speed and power levels. The characters/weapons are: Rifle, Burner, Launcher, Laser and Homing. The latter two are new for this version.
I must say that this is an incredible mode, even better than the arcade one. It's longer, more varied, more fun and has better replayability, with many hidden areas.
There's not much to say about the gameplay, but I mainly use Rifle and Laser for the bosses. I don't like Launcher because he is too slow and Laser is more powerful. Homing arrives too late and Burner can be useful in levels 2 and 3.
I show the strategies that are suitable for me. Maybe there are better ones but I didn't find them out. I also show all hidden areas or at least, most of them. If I missed any of them, please tell me.

My favorite trick is that you can use the yellow medic kit to heal the entire team. (If you select each member while the current active fighter’s health bar regenerates, each member will heal fully). Note this works only in the field, not in the shop.

Original Mode on the Genesis kicks butt. I love the effort they put into it. Unlike arcade mode, original mode encourages secret hunting. Also unlike arcade, medals are used as currency to make purchases so there's elements of decision making the arcade mode doesn't have. The only thing the arcade mode really has going for it is the spread gun. The only major drawback on the Genesis is the slowdown.

Final boss always felt like a let down to me,after all you go thru to get there🤬 really good playthrough&massive respect 4 doin it without mega crashes,they saved me a lotta times. Good job soldier 👍

Thanks mate! Indeed, the final boss is somewhat disappointing. After all you've been through, you expect a more lethal and impressive enemy. Sometimes I try to self-impose challenges that make the games I like a bit more difficult. A lot of times they give them a new dimension and more replayability.

rifle and burner were overall good for any situation, launcher was good against heavy armored units and even bosses, laser was extremely good against bosses only and homing well it was good for nothing since you get it so late in the game

I honestly think he only gave him a power up at the end by mistake!!!

you are very good at this game. i was a wizz at it to. i could never get all the boots or ammo to make all 5 men at there full strenth. but i agree with lazer he was good for bosses only

For mission 5 boss intro,jus stand at side of screen&create a wall of fire tht enemies will run into. Rifle or burner for the bikes,laser for the jeeps&you get thm all. Thts how a did it
