well i mean...crunchy tacos, and chimichangas are not really "authentic Mexican cuisine" they are tex-mex. basically Americanized Mexican food. much like panda express is Americanized Chinese food. so some of the foods they were mentioning are what i would call American in that they are inspired by other cuisines but tailored to American tastes
The middle girl in the group at 3:07 speaks incredible English. Not so much the structure (all of them seem to be good at that) but just from pronunciation she is very natural with very little detectable accent.
What do you think of when you think of Americans" Obesity. (Generalization from most European comparison videos.) What do you miss the most about your stay in America? The Food.
Glad you enjoyed your stay and were able to share with us. These are great life experiences for all of you. Despite what the media says about the USA, we are good people are we perfect? no, but we are good people and proud of it. Thank you for sharing in the American experience. Come back and get some more What-A-Burgers, Taco Bell, Chipotle and the likes and also please reconnect with your Teachers.
In Germany, as far as I know, kids are required to graduate, speaking 3 languages, fluently; German, English and the third is an elective. I am myself am immigrant (LPR) that eventually naturalized (now have dual nationality). I don’t have a particular pick when it comes to food since I can eat just about anything. I will NEVER be a vegetarian. As kid when I immigrated, the most impressive stuff that I experienced was the SIZE of the supermarkets!!!! HUGE!!!! And lots of different types of food.
As someone who was a teenager living in Germany, and specifically Bavaria, I love this video. What do I miss 35 years later? German food, Bavarian mountains and German people.
Interesting prominence for Mexican food, even though it's probably mostly about Tex-Mex and not elevated. Hey, they're students, not food travelers with a spending account. I'm American but have lived two years in college in Germany. Mexican food was the food type I missed most when there. Back then, anyway, Germans had no clue about Mexican or Tex-Mex (that's 1990-ish). They didn't use most of the spices, herbs (try to find cilantro!), chiles, cheeses, salsa, etc.
Wow. That shy girl had impeccable English. Over here in Idaho I wouldn't be able to identify her as being a foreign student until she tried to say Mexican dishes.
The girl in the video 0:52 is wearing an In-N-Out T-shirt. Alllllll of my German relatives Love In-N-Out (so do I). I don't know why the franchise is not international.
2:48.......My God, the girl in the middle is so fluent she could easily pass for a Southern American. She's actually picked up an accent during her stay here. You won't find very many Americans that can speak German as fluently, or with a dialect.
Sounded like a mix of accents, like southern, midwestern, and Californian. Would have never guessed she was German. A lot of the American accents don't sound strictly attached to a certain region, I guess because of stuff like TV and movies.
I think a lot of Europeans are making that judgment based on they're American style restaurants that they have. That attempt to make American style Foods but really don't have a clue. There's really no such thing as American food. America is the world's largest Melting Pot there's so many different cultures so you really can't say you don't like it because it includes every type of food in the world.
I remember my high school hosting German exchange students 15 years ago. I didn't have any interaction, but I remember when they arrived. It was cold season, and they all seemed to be exceedingly well-dressed in expensive coats and luggage. I remember looking around at my fellow students and comparing how we dressed, and it felt really intimidating. It was weird because I attended the wealthiest school district in my state. I remember thinking that we were probably disappointing them.
I'll tell you what. These kids speak the best English of any exchange students I've ever heard! (either in person or on the internet)Honest to God, if most of these kids, esp. the girls, came back to America and told the average American that they were BORN and RAISED here (but maybe had a German mom, etc.), they'd believe you. Congratulations on your outstanding assimilation from your stays. You should all be very proud of your achievement!!.....
Seriously, I completely agree. I thought that something was up with my ears as the German accent was virtually nonexistent. Really impressive. And, they ALL seemed very likable as well. PS I think that Now I'll appreciate Tex-Mex food a bit more. "Welcome To Moe's🎵!!"😀
First of all they're all underage. Its inappropriate to comment sth like that. Also she's not shy, she's german. We're not overexaggerating every word we can talk normally.
If the 'Mexican' food contains these ingredients--- beef, yellow cheese (like cheddar), wheat flour, black beans, canned vegetables (especially tomatoes), and cumin.--- then it is actually considered Tex Mex. Those ingredients are generally not used in authentic Mexican dishes.
Mac Tek I was raised on Tex-Mex, so I don't really care. It was homemade and we didn't call it Tex-Mex, it was just what we had. Also, nothing came out of a can. It was in the 50's and 60's before it was labeled Tex-Mex...and like they say, it is delicious. Most "authentic" Mexican food is generally too greasy and has more of a primal flavor. Btw, fajitas are Tex-Mex too: • www.gazettetimes.com/news/local/history-of-fajitas-is-short-flavor-is-not/article_2bc50150-5d0a-11e1-b076-0019bb2963f4.html
Although you find these accents very American-which they are-notice how Scandinavians who spend months here also speak English with no accent. My wife and I were on an annual trip across "the pond", and sat next to a young Romanian guy who had been an exchange student in southern Texas. This guy sounded exactly like a person who had grown up on a ranch in Texas. You would not believe it. Here is quite an irony: To be quite frank, we live in Memphis, where a vast number of people who grew up here have trouble Speaking English. What is Their excuse?
So the thing that Germans miss most about the United States is... Mexican food.
hey one of my favorite parts of America, Mexican food. And Im American! that's the best part of America my friend.
Devyn Duffy I thought that was very funny as well!
Now they know why we are all fat....

I grew up in California on the border, I live in Georgia now and I miss Mexican food too!

Sounds like she was based on the West Coast.
@@miket2951 I wouldn't have a single idea that she was German, for real!
She sounded too American, I would be fooled if I saw her talking in person.
All three of those girls speak excellent english, but for sure the girl in the center speaks as though it is her native language. Amazing.
there is something for everyone in the states. we welcome all European brother and sisters.
I love hearing positive things about America . So used to the world hating us. Wonderful kids
I didn't think that that many people would miss the food.
I'm currently in america and so far it's great.
What do you think of when you think of Americans" Obesity. (Generalization from most European comparison videos.)
What do you miss the most about your stay in America? The Food.
There seems to be a theme of loving American food. Were always happy to have our cousins over.
Tex-Mex, yesss. You go girl!

Aye the first girl had a Brazoswood high school shirt if that’s the one in lake Jackson, Tx that’s like 15 min away away from where I live!
Its amazing how good some of these girls accents are I would have thought they were from here.
the girl in the middle sounds exactly American
Very slight accent but she speaks better English than many Americans
@@johnreed9050 wdym 😂, um... That's pretty basic stuff
She just speaks English fluently.

3:00 That middle girl's English is amazing. She could pass as an American.
Wow that girl in middle of three who had gray top spoke English without accent
Utah is gorgeous!
yes it is why don't you move there

You were an exchange student as well?
Cheers from Utah! I can't leave the mountains!
2:20 "I miss Taco Bell." Oh that poor poor girl.
When I was in Germany in the 70,s I missed BBQ & fried chicken

It seems that they all miss Mexican food. I can't say I blame them. Mexican food and Tex-Mex food is the best there is.
Lol. No it's not. Not even close
@@matthewhunter6421 A difference of opinion but I can respect that.

she must have American parents or something. That is straight up an american accent

I would have guessed a southern Californian accent. I'm from Louisiana.
I love Germany! I want to visit Germany some day!
Europeans usually disparage American food. That is quite surprising to hear the students say they liked it. How cool is that?
Yet you can find it all over the world.
Olyv Oyl because german food is bad
I guess

Sorry for the girl who was posted in Oklahoma. Wouldn't wish that on any exchange students. Funny how Germans love Mexican food.
how much they sound like americans. that girl in the middle of 3 does not have a german accent at all
God forbod they go home with the same accent and mentality as American teens. Maybe Russia is western culture’s last hope?
