There is no life like it. I was a Field Engineer, same as a Combat Engineer from 1974 to 1982, I was posted to 3 Fld Sqn/ 1 CER at CFB Chilliwack, BC,, now closed and at 4 CER at CFB Lahr, West Germany. Best 8 years in the Canadian Armed Forces, I had to medical re-muster to the RCAF, but that's another story. I also went to the Yukon to work on the Eagle River Bridge on the Dempster Highway in 1977, another great bridge project, the bridge is 16 kms south of the Arctic Circle and is a 100 meter thru truss bridge, still there too.
Fiancé applied as combat engineer and is going for his physical on Monday and interview Sept 2nd. Proud of him and I'm sure our kids are very proud as well (2 year old daughter and 3 month old son)
Ah the good old days. I was a sapper 35 years ago 1 CER CFB Chilliwack. It it nice to see our soldiers with better equipment so they can do their job CHIMO
Was that reg force ? Not sure how long it's been since we had a reg force in bc but I'm not quite sure why we dont, considering we are the furthest west province
I actually switched trades but I haven't gotten the official acceptance yet. Passed all the tests and everything, just waiting on Ottawa's final approval
I remember a Canadian military RUclipsd it was this little brown girl going through basic training. If I remember correctly she was trying to be a combat engineer. Her videos were really helpful and her name started with a k. Recently I haven’t been able to find any of her videos

You're an idiot, just need to put that out there. You literally know nothing on this topic judging by your comment. So stop being an idiot and look up what combat engineers do and learn. It's easy, you can go right to the CAF website and learn more.

I have been having the same dilemma, after all the research I have landed on CE. CE set's you up (Trade Wise) for operating heavy equipment, carpentry, engineering tech, road builders, etc. Where as the Artillery Gunner would set you up for jobs such as surveyors, tractor trailer operators/heavy machine operators, prison guard/security, firefighters etc... In the end I'm more excited to try out the Combat Diver. Good luck with your choice!
I wrote this myself... The role of the combat engineer is to.... Assist in the mobility of friendly forces, And to deny the same to the enemy. Are there any combat engineers out there both current and former that want to weigh in on that???? (I'm an ex infantryman type)
Aswad B 13 weeks of basic in st. jean sur-richelieu, qc. and ober 3 months of training depending on trade. in my case, it's 13 weeks being an infantry soldier. (it's not pleasant at all. But when all is said and done and looking back at it, it sucked... at the time) I love my job.

You need to fuck off with that conspiracy nonsense. It is complete and utter disrespect to the men and women who serve to keep our country safe, and contribute to global peace. Maybe do some research first before spouting off like you know what you are talking about

Canada trains some of the best snipers in the world an there special forces have the most confirmed kills.
