Fred, it snowed here today and is 31 deg. F just a little warmer. We do try very hard to give a good product to make people happy. The look on Mark’s face when he seen his design come to life is priceless to us. We are extremely busy but our quality can’t drop!!! Love the customized hives Rickey! Ours from last year made it through winter strong and ready for spring. It’s the centerpiece of our back yard and gets tons of questions from visitors. We got 15/15 hives through winter this year and looking forward to a busy spring!

Ricky, I made my Double Deep Dovetail Horizontal Hive with the Hinges like yours and I found that 2 of them was sufficient to hold the lid open for a flat top lid might add another in the middle just to keep it from warping. Thanks for your encouragement- I will be making them for my local area for now in Upper Central South Carolina If there is a demand for them. I would love to see everyone converting to Horizontals. They are so easy to work with once in place. I will e-mail you pics of my designs .

They call this copper flashing made by Menards comes in a 24x50 foot roll. Thanks for the kind words and good luck on your horizontal hive.

Very nice my friend. Something I thought about watching was if there’s a way to add some type of quilt box? I’ve been using those the last few winters here and it helps in northern Ohio. Would I just use the space between the frames and the outer lid?
Scott the moisture isn’t a big problem in a horizontal hive because the bees are up in the top of the box and slowly working there way across the hive. With this A- frame horizontal you could use the quilt box if wanted.
