This lady had so much character and a very individual beauty. Photographs of her in her youth have a kind of wistfulness I've never seen in another actress. Thank you so much for uploading.
Elsa was I suppose what would be described as a working Actress not a beauty in the Hollywood sense but certainly a great Actress, this is a very fitting tribute, the stills from The Bride Of Frankenstien are of such an Iconic nature, Elsa will never be forgotten, you have done it again excellent tribut to a a rare talent such as Elsa's
As a young girl one of my greatest pleasures was visiting the Turnabout Theatre. For many years she was a permanent "guest star" there and her poignant, saucy renditions of Forman Brown's wonderful songs inspired me. Though I was never able to write to his level, he and she have remained exemplars to me during my entire, though more modest, creative life. Truly exceptional posting. Thanks so much for this gift.
I recent read Elsa Lanchester's autobiography 'Charles Laughton and I', published in 1938, and practically none of these photographs were included. A lovely & splendid tribute. Thank you!
A great tribute to a brilliant actress. She also had a cuteness and an endearing femininity about her that we all appreciated.. Thanks for the great Video!
Great tribute! Good to see other's appreciate Elsa's talents. I truly believe if she was a young actress working today she would be a major star. It is tragic she didn't get more lead roles to get her teeth into. Still, watch 'The Beachcomber', 'Private Life of Henry the Eighth', 'Passport to Destiny' and 'Rembrandt' to get an idea of what she was capable of.
The Bride of Frankenstein's director, James Whale, wanted a unique look for the Monster's mate, and I believe he had Elsa in mind from the get-go in the making of the film. Mysterious, eerie, and oddly beautiful, she was the perfect bride for Frankenstein's "monster". Ironically, her screen time and dialogue are very brief, yet her Nefertiti-like image from that film has made her an iconic part of cinema history.
WOW.......that was just beautiful & touching. Charles & Elsa were both giants in their field. Excellent photography & accompanying music. Thoroughly mesmerized by this tribute. Thank you for posting it.
Great collection of photos. I came upon this tribute because I love her in the few films I've seen and hoped to find a few more for free on RUclips. Fittingly beautiful music accompaniment, as well. Thanks.
Elsa guest starred on I Love Lucy as a motorist why picks up Lucy and Ethel while they were hitch hiking to Florida, who mistake her for the ax murderer they heard about on the radio.
Its great how retrospection can bring cream to the top. During the golden years of British cinema Elsa was one of many excellent actresses and one presumed that this standard was the norm. Now with all the opportunaties of reliving this era in cinema it is much appreciated just how remarkable Elsas performances are. Thank you.
When she was younger, she was both beautiful and ugly at the same time. A rare, very sexy quality that very few women have. Kind of like Ellen Barkin or Jeanne Moreau in their primes. That's meant as the ultimate compliment. The ugliness makes their beauty that much more human, and that much more sexy.

Elsa...what a dish!!!And a fantastic actress.....Bravo!!
Underappreciated gal. Wish I had a time machine.

She was a real beauty in her youth. A truly great actress,
The background music is really beautiful, can you tell us what it is?
I always thought Elsa Lanchester was attractive as Mary Shelly in BOF>
What a unique and vibrant face she had and personality to match.

Charles was a very lucky man, not only beautiful but also a very lovely character, she made a monster look sexy.
The first woman I fell in love with

@lakewalker11 The soundtrack consist of two edited pieces of music. Michael Nyman's 'Eddie' and 'Hana's Eyes' by Maxsim Mrvica.
Extraordinaria dama britanica y mucho mejor actriz

She had some felliniesque quality about her. Looked like Giulietta Masina, in fact.
She was quite beautiful, wasn't she?!
A beutiful lady who was relegated to playing charater roles becasue she wasn't Hollywood's idea of a glamor girl.
👍
She was a Socialist, but I still liked her. She could not help it...the parents, you know.
Mike Zip , I noticed if a comment is a year or older there's no response.
